hey! umm.. i hope its okay to post this. There were a few people interested in the craft fair happenings in Ottawa, so i just thought i'd post all the official info. (feel free to let me know if this isn't aloud in the community)

What you will find there: all kinds of punky cottage industries from homemade soaps and lipbalm to new wave purses, tea cosies with attitude, dangerous jewellery, garage sale items, bake sales, anarchist books, zines, art, funky legwarmers AND a kissing booth! We will be raffling off some fabulous prizes and offering a taste of Ladyfest (July 4,5,6) to come in the way of workshops in women’s self defense and qi gong!

Be there or be square! Admission is free. Profits from renting out tables are going to presenting Ladyfest Ottawa 2003 as well as punkottawa.com. All profits the vendors make will go to the
vendors.

collaged cigar box

I finally got around to scanning the outer sides of my collaged cigar box. This is one of those almost cube-shaped cigar boxes, with the open front. The inside walls are collaged also, though I don't have photos yet; the inside top and bottom are covered in gold sueded silk.

Two of my best friends birthdays are coming up (on the same day actually) and I thought it would be really cool to make them something using chalkboard paint. Maybe a chalkboard, how would I go about making that? Cardboard? Any other ideas? Thanks :)

i have a friend who joined the army last month and is currently in basic training. yesterday i finally received her mailing address, and was disappointed to find out i couldn't send her anything but letters.

now, this poses a problem for me. i am not a letter-writing girl. to me, dressing up any written correspondence consists of writing on something other than a leftover burger king napkin.

now i really want to send her a bang-up letter....i want it to be so damn beautiful it will make her pee her pants. so i'm trying to avoid the pretty store-bought stationary, but am coming up at a loss for what else to do.

does anyone have any ideas? she's a HUGE david bowie fan (one of the reasons we got along so well!), and i know she can't even listen to his cd's there, so i'd like to incorporate him somehow.

I have several things I can't throw away, but definitely will not use.

So... whoever speaks up first can have them. I'll pay domestic postage (I'm in the US). If anyone who's not in the US really wants these, we can figure out something. I don't want a trade, I don't have room for any more stuff. I'm just giving these away. ;)

a stack of postcards (they stack up to over an inch)... most were freebies from the DC area, '94-98. Some were affixed to various dorm walls and doors with poster putty, I'm sure. Most seem to be in mint condition. If anyone wants to collage, make boxes, etc, these are all perfectly good and some are rather quirky.

four or five old CDs... computer programs, mostly Mac, completely obsolete. if anyone wants them to cut up, melt, or play frisbee, just speak up.

a handful (four, five, six... i don't know) of CVS mint tins. They're about half the size of Altoid tins, but just as tall. They hold about six marble magnets.

I'm currently looking to buy a serger... but i really have no idea what kinds are better than others or what not...

so really what im asking is if anyone has any advice in looking for a particular one to buy? im searching around ebay for cheap ones but i dont want cheap quality.
