i call her valentine for obvious reasons. and yet again - it is all duct tape. oh and the red square is a pocket. but its hard to demonstrate that.

i originally wanted to do this one with white and black. but i ran out of black tape. drat. though now i think i like the red more anyways.

I was looking up mini envelope templates when I came across this web site:
http://www.bydonovan.com/templates.html
*pants*
It has tons of templates for envelopes and other such things...damn. I wish I would have found this site before I cut all my envelopes out. *curses*
Anyways, just thought I would share it.
ENJOY!!

I just posted this to [livejournal.com profile] handmadebooks last night, but someone told me there might be some interest here as well. This is a link to some of my handmade books. Most of the books pictured are coptic bound hardbacks. There are a few images from my sketchbooks, which tend to be made entirely from materials I've dumpstered, trashpicked or otherwise recycled.

in light of all the pirates here, i'm hoping someone will have ideas!

my bday party this year will be pirate themed. (i love the 'pirates and their booty' phrase!) any suggestions for not *too* hard decorations? how about pirate games? i already have a poster of (ha ha) russell crowe for pin the tail on the pirate, and my artist roommate is going to make some cool cardboard decorations, but i would love some suggestions for other games!

most guests will be in the range of late twenties to early/mid thirties.

thanks!

since a few people have been asking how i make the bags i thought i would draw up a simple tutorial.

if you can make a nice clean duct tape sheet you can make anything. make a long one then fold it in half tape up the sides for a simple purse. alternately you can make large large sheets and then use sewing patterns to cut out pieces for clothing. (staple the hems for more durablity and run a strip of tape over the staples.) a good sheet of tape is just like a piece of fabric. purse handles or straps are just long thin sheets. coin purses are just small sheets. its quite simple once you get the hang of it.

I finished my Health Journal, it looks pretty cool. I also took it upon my free time to decorate the cover of one of my scrapbooks, my mom thinks its gorgeous. I think I'm going to make my mom and dad a wedding anneversary present, but of pictures of me and them and all of our animals. How does Mod Podge work on photos? Any tips/advice? Also what kind of Mod Podge works best with photos- Matte or Glossy?

My mom might be picking up some more Mod Podge and brushes today, in both matte and glossy, she loves it and wantes me to teach her how! I love when crafty things help me bond with my mom, we've been going through rough times.

I'm going to try my hand at a duct tape wallet today. Wish me luck girls.

(I'll post pics of the books, wallet, and forementioned Ikea Table (which will have pictures cut out of rolling stone most likely) when I get my birthday present- A much needed digital camera!)

I'd apreciate anything, I've posted here before so I know I can count on you guys for some great ideas...thanks guys!

Hey persons,
I was reading thru the archives and noticed several people ask how to attach things to those cinderblock dorm walls you can't use nails or tacks on--i've long since left the collegiate world but remember my roommate's favorite way to attach things to those walls (and everything else)--big ol dollops of hot glue. it will peel off the cement (and most other things) once its adhering duties are done. i hope this tip helps somebody!

I free-formed a ducttape wallet. It's pretty nifty. I'm thinking of decorating the front. Can you decopage ducttape?

Also- is anyone in here a photographer who has worked with Holga cameras or other medium format (120) film?

making artsy-ness for the boyfriend's birthday;
_bought acoustic guitar strings for the purpose of stringing them across the length of the inside of a decorated altoid tin.
_problem-- attaching the strings effectively so that they don't:
   a) detach
   b) look trashy
   c) interfere with the opening and closing of the tin

advice?

I am currently making what I call "kennel" snuggles for my veterinarian's office by crocheting two strands of thread with a K hook. The yarn I am using is stuff intended for a project that never got off the ground (Red Heart Super Saver 8 yarn).

My question is, I am a smoker and I would like to deliver these to my vet's office without the underlying smell of cigarette smoke. Anyone have any solid ideas on how to take as much of the smoke smell out of the snuggles before I deliver them?

Aside from quitting smoking, there must be a solution until I am able to stop this nasty habit.

I plan on making these for local no-kill animal shelters as time goes on as well.

Your help is appreciated.

Yeah, I looked through the FAQ and couldnt find anything... SO...

The other day I was in Schnucks and saw this Metallic Gold Crayola 100 Crayons Box. I had to buy it. Now I have 100 (...er 104, the are adding 4 new colors - that I get to name!) and nothing to do with them other than coloring books.

Ive racked my brain for crafts... do you know of any>>

I was about to go out and buy one of those overpriced, cheapo learn to knit or learn to crochet kits. But I think I might just buy a few supplies and teach myself from here http://www.learntoknit.com/. Yay, I love the Internet.

A while back someone here posted a recipe for gesso using house paint and ... other stuff. Could they repost it, please? I have a whole bunch of banners in need of re-painting.
