Halloween

I have a question for everyone, and it may be a fun running post.

What are you guys doing for halloween? Lets share idea's. Maybe post pictures of what we did the year before!

I personally, made from scratch, the BEST mulan rouge style costume.

But I have no idea what to be this year. And I need to start planning, and creating.

So my two questions:

What did you do last year and how?
What are you planning for this year, and how are you doing it?

this really isn't considered a craft... but i guess it could be... anyway... i really need help with this as all the baking communities I've gone to have hardly any members and even less people who actually read/ post. so ... I know many of you also like to bake so maybe you can help me... does anyone know if for a breadmaker... is it possible to substitute yeast ? possibly with club soda?

zippers

I was wondering... is it possible to cut zippers? I bought a packet of about 20+ zippers, in various sizes & colors, for only $1.25 at the junk store. Some are waaay too long (about 22", and I only need them for change purses). Basically, can I cut them down to size? If so, how?

Is there anything better to hollow a book with than an exacto or a razor?

I've never hollowed something like this before, and I just sliced majorly into my thumb. It hurts like all else.

I would like to decoupage a large wooden jewelry box for a friend's wedding, and I need to know if the cut-elmer's-glue-with-water-half-strength trick for when you have no mod podge will work for creating a glossy finish on this box. And how long does it take to dry?

I was wondering: How do you make earmuffs? I've seen people with homemade earmuffs before, and thought I'd like to try.
Any tips, pointers, instructions, etc. would be niice.
(Hopefully this hasn't been asked 438957 times before... though I checked the FAQ/Memories section, and I didn't see anything about it..)

Thanks :)

Faery wings

I made my first ever faery wings for a friends' costume. This was just a practice run and I didn't have any supplies but old hangers, a pair of tights and mismatched socks. Oh and the paint job is like 4 coats of housepaint. Heh...Any comments? Ideas? Advice? Do they look decent?

here they are )

just a thought:

when making the record album purses, if I'm not doing anything to protect the album sleeve (like putting it in a vinyl sleeve) do I need to do something to it like spray it with a clear coat or maybe put modge podge (sorry if that's not the right name. i've never actually used it.)

because I'm thinking that if I were to just put the sides together with some laces or something that if it rained as it often does the cardboard might get soggy and it will just fall apart.

sorry for my crazy vernacular. my mind is going a mile a minute. i just got out of a very nervewracking presentation for my speech class.

thanks grrrls!

I know this isn't crafty but I think it's relevant to this community ... well because it's an LJ community. How exactly does one cross post .. how do you post an entry to more than one journal/community at once?

Okay, I don't have a webcam or a digital camera so I can't take a pic of the whole thing. Sooo I just scanned in the stencil. Welp, here it is:
Harley Quinn! )
Okay, I first stenciled it - then, cause the gun didnt come out detailed enough for my liking I used a fabric pen *the lighter color* to bring out some highlights, then with a black fabric pen I put in more darks.

The shirt itself is long sleeved - I've cut the neckline to make it more of a boatneck, and I shortened the bottom, because it was overly long. :) Other then that, my first evah stencil, and I plan to do it again, cause I loved it!! Yay.

x-posted btw, on my own journal and t-shirt surgery.

Hey hey, new to the community. Im Jenna :D

Anywho, here's a bit of craftyness I've done. I spotted this scrap fabric on sale at Craftmart awhile ago, and couldnt pass it up. Later that day, it became...

Yep. It's kind of weird to put "popsicle pouch" on the front..seeing as how I wouldn't actually put popsicles in it, but the popsicle was lonely, so my sister suggested that.

All I used was a little bit of scrap striped fabric, an orang zipper, some white lining for the inside, and the popsicle (including the sticks) is made of felt. It's about 4x5 inches. Perfect size for carrying make-up or little knick knacks.

Right now I'm working on a sort of collaged album for my strange black and white photos I shoot. It's kind of got a vintage/nostalgia theme. Yum. n__n That's all for now!

Is starting a community the same as starting a regular account. In other words do I just go to the create section and input my code and then it will prompt whether I want a community or not. I would like to get this started but I am a bit in the dark about LJ info. I am asking here because folks in this group seem to start communities alot and are always so helpful.

yo.

hey.

i was wondering, i've been making some clutches out of felt.. and have been thinking about upgrading them to vinyl. i do want to sell them, but obviously felt is incredibly much more cheaper than vinyl. wow. bad grammer.
so do you think a vinyl clutch would last? or should i just move to vinyl before selling my designs.

...relaly. this isn't selling anything. it's pretty much asking about the strength of felt. thanks. :D
