I want to sew an underbust corset using this pattern.

I plan to modify the boning, and instead make 2 different peices, one the outer and one the inner, and sew those together. Instead of boning with plastic or steel, I have been researching boning with hemp cording, and what I was planning on doing was sewing along each seam 4 channels to thread the hemp through.

However, while I was working it all out just a short while ago, I realized that there is a flaw in my plan.

I would appreciate any help or thoughts on what i could do, as well as any other ideas for the corset.. thanks... I really like the idea, and as Im almost done with a vest at the moment, I need another project to start soon..

So I'm new... the names Mary, from Niagara Falls, New York... and I have a question for you all.

I'm turning the oh so sweet sixteen in a couple weeks. (ugh gag me) But instead of buying stupid party favors I wanted to make something unique for my strange and unique friends. Any simple ideas would be greatly appreciated. I didn't see any birthday party favors on the FAQ/memories page, just wedding favors. So please help me out here.

Thank you so much.

I just saw this site and after looking at my old, ugly mailbox was thinking I'd do something like it. Not so flowery, but more desert-y. Anyhow, what kind of paint/overcoat should I use on a mailbox that is actually used? It need to hold up to the heat of the Phoenix summer...Thanks!

i am applying for a major scholarship for a university. the last page says:

"Creativity and original thinking are attributes we assess when considering the recipients for our major Entrance Awards. In the space provided below show us, in your own way, how you meet these criteria."

So basically, i need to be creative, and i need to do it on an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.

I have some photography stuff, i knit, i collage. But what says "i am an awesome leader and motivator and i am creative?" on a little piece of paper like this? They want me to think outside the box, but just making a pretty craft think is not really going to be good enough, i don't think.

Please help.

oh no!

I have an informal survey for y'all.

Think about your favorite craft store:

1. What do you like most about your favorite craft store?
2. What do you dislike most about your favorite craft store?
3. What would you like to see it carry?
4. Anything else you'd like to see change?
5. What do you dislike most about about your least favorite craft store?
6. Any other comments?

Disclaimer - I do work for a craft store. However, I'm not trying to sell them - I just want to find out what people think of buying crafts. (However, it's very possible that your comments could find their way to a veeps desk, so here's a good place to maybe get your two cents in!)

this is probably the stupidest question. but, i didnt even know sewing machines can backstitch until my friend mentioned it. so, i have a singer model 6038 and i was wondering if anyone knew where the backstitch button is, if there is any? i can't find anything that would be it and the instruction manual drives me bonkers. so, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Any way, I decided to make my friends some CD wallets just because and as extra/late x-mas presents. I’ve been working on them for the past couple days using THESE instructions, and here’s the result of my work :

Im planning on starting a crafting/seamstress business soon, starting out via the web. Ive located a hosting service, and someone recommeded http://www.opensourcecommerce.com

Do any of you have online shops where you sell your nice items? If so, do you have any tips/hints that would be helpful to someone starting out?

...wine bottles? I have a bunch at home because I'm a huge drunk we drink a lot of wine and champagne over the holidays. Any crafty ideas?

I know this is a little off topic, but I thought you would have creative solutions. I have a vinyl, clear shower curtain and the first hole has broken through and can't hang on the shower hook now. It is torn. How can I repair this? Any crafty ideas?

Hello all! Today I went to this amazing little asian mall, and they have the coolest clothes ever! The strange thing is, I wasn't allowed to try clothes on, but my friend figured they would fit me. I am not as petite as the target market!

When I got home, one of the sweaters was a little too small, but it is so fantastic, I can't give it away! Its a fabric of a tshirt like knit, do you think its possible just to cut it up the center, and sew in a zipper, to give a little more room? Or would it turn out to be a giant disaster. The sweater was only $10 so it wouldn't be too too heartbreaking if it didn't work, since i wouldn't wear it anyway - its skintight!

Secondly, I bought another amazin zip-up sweater for $15! I couldn't try it on, it fits though (it all seems so strange why it couldn't be tried on!). The problem is, once I got home, the zipper broke! Just the slider, it sort of broke in half. Is there a way I can fix this myself? (probably not!) If I took it somewhere, to say a shoe repair shops or something of the like, would it be possible for them to fix it? Oh, I don't know, but I'm so upset!!! Thanks for any information that can be provided!

I've got a friend who's a little down and having a rough time right now, so I'm going to make her a sunshine basket ("a little extra sunshine for when the world seems dark") can you think of any sun themed items that I could put in there? the thing that started it all is that I got her the funshine bear carebear, so that kinda got me thinking... I'm going to put it all in a yellow basket before I give it to her.

thanks! :)
