I wanted to make myself a t-shirt skirt, but all my big, un-wanted tees are thin and white. Freezing my butt off in the cold Wisconsin weather while showing everyone the color of my underwear (if I'm wearing any o.O) is not my idea of fun.

Micheal's had a sale on their plain-colored sweatshirts, so I bought a black one for US$4. Good shit. I made myself a skirt with some hot pink fleece for racing stripes (not that I rush anywhere) from the remnants bin from Joann's for about $2. It took me about two hours, on and off to make this, try it on, tweak it, try it on again, and tweak it some more until I was happy. I'm pretty satisfied with it. The bottom band acts as a good waistband. And I can wear the front as back and back as front because there is NO DESIGNATED front or back.

I didn't include a front photo 'cause it looks like a regular skirt. It is kind of form-fitting (you can see it curves around me butt) but not tight, and it flares out a bit at the bottom. But it keeps thighs warm, it's a good winter skirt, and more importantly, I can wear it in public without people telling me that they love red undies too.

I've included some instructions (with awesome graphics!) if you are interested. )

I made this cool flower pin yesterday after needsomecoffee posted the instructions here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/2820944.html

Hey crafty craftsters! I saw that Craft Planet is selling Meat Babies.

You could buy them or make your own, but I think they're so darn cute!

I'm not really sure if this belong here, and if it dosen't I'm REALLY sorry! feel free to delete this post if it doesn’t belong here. (also if you could direct me to the correct community I’m appreciate that)

any way, I have a plain boring ceiling that’s in need of some paint, or something to spice it up and also match the wall paint. Only problem is painting it is REALLY hard since it’s that textured stuff! So, I need any ideas for painting or just making my ceiling look better! Any ideas what so ever are appreciated! ^___^

I'm making a necklace that uses some paper components. Does anyone know of a waterproofer or varnish or sealer that would work on paper and dry clear? It also needs to be a stiffener.

Thanks.

Beaded this last night, am going to put a ring on the back so I can put it on a necklace & wear it.

Hey crafters

Just wanted to let everyone know that at the Rag Shop, marbles are on sale for $1 a package. Also, at Michael's, they're on sale for 4 bags for $3. I just checked in the circular I got in the paper and I thought I'd let you all know because I'm sure you all love sales as much as I do. I live in NJ so I'm assuming that this sale is for all the Michael's and Rag Shops in other states.

Just another t-shirt skirt. Made out of random scraps that have acumulated over the years. I think it's pretty neat considering it cost absolutly nothing at all.. I think all but 1 of the old scraps were actually given to me.

I just bought some E 6000 glue for making marble magnets and I just don't know how to handle it without getting it on me. Also I am concerned about the toxicity of it. I have a neurological disorder. I made some at Christmas but I used mod podge and a craft adhesive to glue the magnets on. Anyway, anyone get nauseated or dizzy from this glue? Anyone have any medical problems that it aggravated? Any other suggestions?

I know I have asked before for alternatives, but I don't quite feel up to digging for the old answers in the archives or my emails. I just had laparoscopic surgery and I was hoping to make these while I convalesce.

Alright -- here goes a question that has already been asked, and I have researched a little: How does one go about making t-shirts smaller? I found this post very helpful, however, it still leaves me with a problem -- the shoulder seam where the sleeve meets the body of the shirt is still going to be too low, making the shirt look like it doesn't fit. I'm assuming that to fix this, one would remove the sleeves before cutting off the excess material on the sides, however, does anyone have a particular technique for re-attatching the sleeves? I have a rough idea, but if someone has experience with doing this, advice would be welcomed. Otherwise, I'm just going to have to wing it. And by god, I'm ready to resize my shirts now! Thanks for reading this.

I couldn't believe my luck when I found a loom up in the attic a few days ago. We have two other looms but they're usually taken (crafty moms- a blessing and a curse *to be said in the deep voice from True Hollywood Stories, etc.). So I asked my mom why it was up in the attic, and she said that she just didn't use it because it was a bit too small to do carpets/tapestries, and said that I could have it! Yeah, baby!

I used yarn from SISU, and made this:

So I am in the process of making a duvet cover for my fav blanket. I love the heavy wieght of it but it does not match my decor, so I figured I could make a duvet for it. So, If a duvet cover is basically a giant pillow case for a comforter, then how are you supposed to keep the blanket from buching up inside of it. I dont want to sew it directly to the blanket because it would be way to hard to wash that way. Any ideas???

PS.The duvet is a patchwork made of variuos grey cotton calicos. The back will be just plain fabric, probably just a plain sheet cut to fit. I am thinking that I will probably make it close in the style of an envelope like you do on pillow covers. I will post pics when and if I ever finish it.

this might sound completely ludicrous, but...

next month my divorce will be finalized (trust me, this is a GOOD thing). my friends and i decided to throw a celebration party, a "re-bachelorette" party if you will. we want to have decorations and games and favors and whatnot, that will have a slightly risque edge to it all, without going all-out in the typical bachelorette party style (no penis-shaped straws, in other words). but i'm coming up blank as to what would be fun.

any ideas?

But Halloween is a big event in my town, and since I didn't have a costume this year, I really want to make it good.

I'm watching Moulin Rouge right now, and now I'm really wanting to make a can-can costume for myself.

Have ya'll seen any patterns that I could possibly work off of for this?

I saw the idea for these on here, and decided to make some.

TV1 Bag.

[identity profile] object001.livejournal.com
I saw the ugliest duffle bag at vinnies a while back but it was made from the coolest fabric. It must've been some TV1 merch or somethign cause it has Seinfeld, Cheers, I dream of Jeanie, Brady Bunch etc. So for $1 I thought I could aford to buy it, cut it and make a bag worthy of this rad fabric.

Agree?

A while back people were talking about making bottle incense burners, but drilling through glass is a pain in the ass, right.

WELL

Snapple elements are now bottled in metal, so you can just hammer a nail into the back and voila - a ready to decorate beautiful burner!

i use elastic thread like this for making necklaces and bracelets. but it doesn't seem to stay tight when i knot it. i've used superglue before now to put a bit on the knot, but it makes any beads near it go a white colour.
is there anything else i can use to secure it? or perhaps there's a more secure knot or something?
am in the uk, btw...
