I was lookin around and found this great Strong Bad pic I made into a stencil. I wanted to make me and my BF matchin shirts. I saw ppl mentioning a mix of acrylic and elmers for the paint....I have Apple Barrel paint..in like 30 different colors....would that work? or must I go to Walmart at this time of night and buy acrylics? Anything I should know before embarkin on my first ever stenciling journey? Thanx!

haha. everyone hates the handistitch so much, there have been many posts about that. but has anyone tried those "whizzers" scissors? are they any good?

I got a great idea from this post for what to do with my ceiling! Quote :

"at this coffee shop i used to frequent, they covered their ceilings with record album covers. it was pretty awesome." - ann_gwish

so, now that I've bought the records I've made a layout for the ceiling and Jeff has made a layout!! ^__^
so, help me pick which layout to use, PLEASE! ^____^

Packaging

I am making a lot of soap, and was wondering what I should use for packaging it. I was thinking I wanted some of that cool heat shrink wrap, but was unsure where to get it, or what kind of heat gun to buy.

Also I was wondering what you guys use for labels. Sticker printer paper? Plain paper glued to the plastic?

Any ideas would be really helpful because I just don't know where to start.

ZoMbIe Make-up I did for Halloween ^ (Chris and myself)

I dont like the tyoe of makeup I used for that pic...it was too creamy and wet, but Chris' looks nice.

Some more Zombie Make-up for no reason what-so-ever. I like these pics more, cuz the makeup was totally N.O.T.L.D. style.

D.I.Y.  or die! heh

x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] handmadebooks...

The owner of the company that created and sells Sheer Heaven and Now What? e-zine sponsored an online handmade book show on the theme of "Matchbooks." The show just opened and while small there is some very inspiring ideas to take in.

Check it out at http://www.dotcalmvillage.net/gallerypages/matchbookshow/matchbookshow.html

I'm only affiliated in that I have a book in the show...

If yooouuu were making a love coupon book for your boy for Valentine's Day, what would you put inside? I need a couple of ideas.. I found some by googling, but they were all super cheesy. I think this might have been a subject recently, because I seem to remember someone posting an idea for a coupon of "show me your boobs," which will definitely be going into my coupon book. *hehe* Anyway! Any suggestions would be super appreciated. :)

i'm turning a t-shirt into a purse. i looked in the memories for handle ideas and all i got were sites to buy handles. the only ones that would work with the idea i have are really expensive or are really ugly. is there anything i could use around the house or something under 5 dollars or so to make a metal handle/handles for a handbag?

{edit} i'm looking for a sort of retro/rockstar look i guess

what do y'all think about a group craft project? maybe that's not a good word. more like we all decide to do one craft (all the same craft) and then post pics of how we each did that one thing. does that make any sense at all?
[identity profile] feline.livejournal.com
I made these based on patterns in the magazine Bead & Button. I guess I'm happy with them, although I haven't a clue what to do with the net-wrapped rose quartz crystal.

I thought I'd share this with you all...last year I made this shadowbox valentine with a picture of my hubby and I...this picture was our 1st valentines together when we first met and we have been together 4 years and been married going on 2.

The matting around the frame I used conversation heart foam stamps I picked up at Michael's. And I used different color pinks purples and blues for valentines. (My cousin made one for her bf but instead of stamping on the boarder she used the word magnet strips you get at Target...(those can be a little pricey though)
And I poured 2-3 boxes of candy hearts inside...suprizingly this has held up well for the last year....so I wouldn't worry much about your hearts going bad unless moisture somehow gets in.

I looked under flowers and candles, and even decoupage, but I'm still confused.

I found some dried and pressed violets that my mom had stuffed in an old book. They're just lying around. We have a huge green candle I think they'd look adorable stuck on. I'm just not sure how to do it. I was thinking just a little Elmer's, but I've never tried anything like this before.

Any tips?

Thanks :)

i recently received an invitation to a stamping party. im not exactly sure what this means. my friend sent an email invitation, and all it said was that its a card making party - a demonstration by the woman who sells the materials, and then card making fun. it sounds fun enough, cause its crafty... but i dont want to get there and wind up having to buy stuff i dont really need (since i do plenty of damage just buying the stuff i already use for crafting). does anyone know about these sorts of parties or what to expect?

and since i finally got a digital camera - heres some pics of recent projects
yay! my posts finally dont have to be boring! )

HELP

an upscale boutique 'chain' (has a few locations) in a metro area wants exclusive rights to carry my stuff at their store; she also told me "If you do give me an exclusive- I will support your product completely."

is this a good idea? it sounds like it could limit my other retail outlet options

Corsets

[identity profile] g33ku5.livejournal.com
I'm a lurker..I've been in this community for bout 3 or 4 months, and rarely post but I read alot of the posts. Anyway, my friend found this dress on the net that she loves, but can't find anywhere to buy it, so I offered to make it. The top bit is a corset kind of top, and I was looking in the memories, but I can't find instructions on how to make a corset. I may have missed something though, um.. any ideas?

For Christmas my mom promised to buy me a new sewing machine, and i got it! i was so excited that i made my boyfriend a cute stuffed vampire bunny. i swear once i get to the fabric store i'm going to go on a sewing spree. mmm.

I've been offered some space at a studio that's between home and work. It's not free, but not too expensive.

There isn't any one art/craft that I do regularly; I'm more of a gatherer of scraps and whatnot that I sometimes glue or sew or piece or paint. The problem is the scraps and whatnot are taking over my house. If I take the space, will I really work there? Or will I just be paying money for storage? Is it worth it to pay for storage?

Therein lies the problem. Comments? Questions? Advice?

I am looking for a knitting kit... I wanna start making scarfs...

HI I am new btw..
[identity profile] xxbettyragexx.livejournal.com
so valentines day is coming up and i've already decided to make my boyfriend a handmade teddy bear. i'm also going to make him a bouquet of a dozen roses out of duct tape. i looked through the memories and there's a lot of great ideas, but i was wondering if any of you had any ideas for some "naughty" v-day gifts. like i was thinking of making some of those love dice out of a regular pair of dice. i also thought about making a sort of racey coupon book. any other ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

hey people i got a great response for a group crafting thing. now i wanted to know how y'all wanted to go about choosing a craft. either we could all suggest crafts and vote on one to do and then all do it. orrrr, we could pick a household item and all use it in some crafty way and post from there. i ilke that idea that someone suggested. i love recycling crafts. so if you like idea #2 then say that, or if you have a specific craft idea reply with that.
this is going to be so great. i second what someone said "aahhh... togetherness"

"the paper chase" article in readymade....

Well I think I've finally figured out the necklaces I want to make to go with my bridesmaid dresses(Lavendar Haze). I found some ivory pearls (my wedding dress is ivory, I can't post it cause my fiance has LJ, heh) and some really neat glass beads that are all shades of purple. Both found at Michael's, yeah I know. Anyway, I tried three different designs before settling. Not sure if I'm too keen on it yet though.

Here is how they look:

I know they are kinda tough to see...any opinions yet?
[identity profile] pelesgirl.livejournal.com
Okay. One more question regarding paper. I read in the FAQs under Paper crafts/ Paper making, and it explained how to flatten the pulp and whatnot..but, heres my question: how do you make the pulp?

Also, thank you all for helping me with my other question regarding tea staining!

This post http://www.livejournal.com/community/crochet/551089.html directed another link to a catalog that features a lot of crocheted garments. Going through the link, it seems they are selling leggings. The same type of leggings that were pretty hip in the early - mid 90s after stirrup pants went out of style.

So many of you are so much more in touch with fashion than I am, I am curious as to the concensus of leggings.

Hip or not?

1.) Hell no, I wouldn't wear those again!

or

2.) Heck YEAH, break out the leggings I have a lot of cool long tops that I spent hours working on, I still have all my leggings from long ago!

I still have all my leggings and if they are coming back, I would love to break them out but if people think I am crazy, they will stay locked in a box for archeologists to uncover when we are all dead and gone.

I have an old Caboodle (remember those?) that I still use to store makeup and whatnot. The problem is, it's a hideous 80s Pepto-Bismal pink color. I've tolerated it until now. I thought about decoupaging it, but I didn't know how to keep the pictures from getting damaged from moisture (a particular sealer, perhaps?). I keep the Caboodle in the bathroom, so it's exposed to the extreme temperature fluctuations and moisture. So, I thought, why not paint it? My question is, are there certain paints out there that are better for a bathroom environment than others? I need a paint that will stick to plastic and tolerate the climate of an everyday bathroom. Any suggestions for what types of paint are best are very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
[identity profile] metal-lunchbox.livejournal.com
Hello! I made a purse and did some decoupage work today. The purse isn't all so great because I don't have a sewing machine and had to hand stitch, and use my handi stitch..heh, i would so much rather have a sewing machine. ::crosses fingers::

anyway, here's some pics of what i did )
