I was in a rush to make this shirt, so it came out a bit trashy. But the spray-painting turned out really clear. I sprayed the back of the stencil with some water, and pressed it to the shirt to make it stick more. I got the quote from Inga Muscio, fabulous writer of Cunt.

I wore this past Friday to classes and to the Anti-George Bush party. It was a hit with my LGBT Studies class and people in general. And when I say it was a hit, I mean no one smacked me becuase they disagreed with the shirt.

Go small boobies.

I dusted the cobwebs off of the old sewing machine this weekend and whipped up some cute-possessed appliance cozies for my kitchen. You just can't go wrong with quilted red gingham! So, I took some gingham, piping and WIGGLE EYES...and made some little masterpieces. I think everyone should cover their appliances with cuteness!!!

But my fiance and I scored a bunch of records (just about all of them beyond hearability, and had peices broken off (like my bowl) so I wanted to do more stuff then just make bowls!

Oh jeebus, it just hit me that saturday is Valentines day and I don't have anything for my boyfriend. I am in need of massive help! I planned on giving him some Light bulb vases and doing something like that. But, light bulb vases are just so plain sometimes. I'm going to give him a blue one and a clear one but I want to decorate the clear one. What should I decorate it with? Glass paint and a paint brush? Please give me some quick and cheap ideas. Thanks!

hey guys, i need some advice, although this is a slightly larger project. everyone knows the character marie de salle from "high fidelity" right? and has anyone seen how, in the movie, she has used window frames hanging, surrounding her bedroom area from the rest of the apartment? well, my boyfriend and i want to try doing that in our studio apartment, to set it off from the rest of the space, but i don't know quite where to begin. first off, where to get window frames? i assume i can check local landfills... but i don't really want to buy a whole bunch of brand new empty frames, and we would like the glass still in them. also, how should i hang them so that they don't pull right out of the ceiling? think there's any way i can construct a sort of frame to support the whole thing?

any advice you guys might have would be awesome... thanks!

hey y'all

I promise you I searched the memories but I couldn't really find anything about Valentines day. Forgive me if I didn't look hard enough!

This is the first year I'll be celebrating Valentines because I actually have a boyfriend. The relationship is semi-serious, we've been together for almost a year. However, as of right now I have 12 dollars in my account and 6 dollars in cash. I was driving home from college last Friday and I got a flat tire and had to take care of that. It cost me 48 bucks just so some guy could flirt with me and put a donut on my car and then 60+ dollars for a new tire. ANYWAY.. I need to have gas money to drive the 150 miles home so I can actually see the boy this weekend, so funds are EXTREMELY limited. I know that driving all that way to see him seems like enough, but I would really like to get him/make him something nice. A little something. I do have two thrift stores near me, a dollar store and a Target. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

I know there is a post similar to this below, but I thought this was a tad different since I have such an extremely tight budget. If you need to delete this, go ahead. :)

PS - Sorry for telling you my life story! I'm just flipping out right now. :P

I have a really close guy friend who is very political and very patriotic. He wants to be President one day. His birthday is in a week and I need some ideas. All of the patriotic craft sites seem to be for little kids.

I know I'm going to frame two patriotic quotes that I know he'd like, but what else? I was thinking red/white/blue magnets. Can anyone help?

This VD is the first one in years that both my best male friend and I are single (we've been helping each other mend shattered hearts).

SO! I'm making him a card (since I'm ass broke) and sending it to him on the other side of the country. It's black construction paper. On the front is a red heart, broken in two with a Band Aid across the middle holding it together.

But the inside is the coolest...heh heh. I've been cutting out pictures of hot hot hot women and modpodging them on the inside so that at least he can look at a bunch of sexy women on VD. My personal favorite is a picture of Norah Jones with a conversation blurb above her head that says, "You can penetrate my vagina!" (a comment he made to me about Jones in an email recently). He's gonna love it.

I'd take pics but I'm lame and don't have a digital cam. I was just too proud of my (amateur) craftiness that I wanted to share with you ladies!

my mother is taking a trip to florida tomorrow, to see our family there. she requested two bags to give to my younger cousins, rachel and samantha.

samantha is 12, and reportedly has started to become "goth" in her taste in clothing. she's also a very serious little girl, and so I made her a dark, more adult-like bag using black and gunmetal colored seed beads. it also has hematite accents and jet czech beads for the fringe dangles and strap.

I have two questions for everyone. I did look through the FAQ, btw, but I didnt see anything specific to what I needed/conclusive. Anyhow, on to the questions:

1. I want to repaint an old chair. I *think* its upholstered with vinyl. I can tell its been painted before, so i'm positive it can be painted, I just don't know what kind of paint to use. So my question is, does anyone here know what kind of paint would be best for this?

2. I want to make a glass snapple bottle into a vase, but I want to cut off the top part with the threading for the cap. Anyone know how to do this and what would be best to cut it with? Also, whats the best paint for painting on glass?

Thank you all very much. I really appreciate it.

So my friend is having a rough time for v-day and I'm going to make her a shirt with a pink heart crossed out (think: no smoking)

Anyways she wants something witty on the back- short and simple.
So far we have "love stinks"- any ideas on something else?

I went craft shopping today. Behind a cut, just in case you don't wanna hear about it.
What I Got )

[Background: I recently started a (very) small business selling natural lip balm. For containers I’ve been using white plastic jars, as I personally like them the best. However, these containers are causing shipping problems. They are a wee bit too large for lettermail and therefore I have to pay the minimum for parcel shipping. I figured people wouldn’t want to pay more for shipping than they did for the actual product, so I ordered different containers, which should be cheaper to ship. So now I’m on a search to find labels for one of these new containers.]
Does anyone know where I could get blank sticker labels (for inkjet printers) that fit standard 0.15 oz lip balm tubes? I believe the size of the label should actually be about 2" x 1.5".
I’m having a hell of a time finding them so if anyone could help I’d really appreciate it! :D

You know those heavy, silver, quilted oven mitts?
Where can I get that kind of material?
Anyone have an idea? I really need some for a project I’ve got cooking.

Thanks!

Somebody teach me to cast stitches. Please please please. The websites make no sense, and I figured that someone could explain it better. And so that it's not just a lame plea for help...
