I need to make a wheel of fortune for Thursday. I have cardboard and paint to make the board, but my problem is the little arrow thing in the middle, which I have no idea how to make. I think I can make the arrow itself out of card too, but how do I attach it and make it spin nicely? And...how do I beat gravity and make sure that, when the board is standing vertically, the arrow spins fairly and doesn’t always go down?

Okay, this may be a stupid question, but does anyone know how I'd go about making an ironing board cover?

What kind of material would be best to use?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all:

What kind of paint should I be using to silk screen onto vinyl? Will simple acrylic work, or will it flake? This is going to on a softish hand bag, so I don't think I can polyurethane it, can I?

-thanks

um, someone posted in here (i think) their idea to take a light socket cover and decorate it with pictures. i think they decorated theirs with marylin monroe and it was for their bathroom... i'm not completely sure but does anyone know what i'm talking about? or how i would go about the idea? i did look in the FAQ section. no help. eh, i feel kinda dumb now. help please!

First off, I apologize if it is in the FAQ. I couldn't find it & I dug.

Does anyone have a recipe for environmentally friendly homemade tub tints? They'd have to be something solid based that melted in the water. Is there someway to do it with the bath bomb recipes already in the FAQ?

TIA.

Another Valentine project I recently finished.  Has a foam rubber inside.  Supposed to look like a big, fancy box of candy.

I just wanted to post about a book project that seems easy and fun. I'll make it when I get the time.

Accordion books.

p.s. the machine is brand new, manual is crap and this is xposted to [livejournal.com profile] sew_hip

hey everyone. i have a question.. but just to keep you entertained, here are some pictures of crap i've been working on. hope the pictures aren't too big for you.

yepp )

now onto the actual question. yeah, i know it's past valentines day, but i'm making something for my boyfriend, and i haven't really finished yet. i'm making a book )kind of thing.. i cut the binding off of a tall, thin book and turned it on it's side and drilled holes into it. then i put black fabric over the covers.. but.. i'm actually not too sure about how to keep them there. should i hot glue gun them or something? i have them taped for now. no good. by the way, it's going to say "annie hearts" on the front, and then have all pages and collages and pictures of stuff i heart about him and us. :) if you have any suggestions about keeping the fabric onto the book covers, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Can anyone tell me the best way to paint one of the crappy bookshelves from like, Walmart?
It's made from particle board, and has a hideous false wooden covering..I don't know if I have to sand it first or what.. Or if spray paint/acrylics would work. I've never painted "finished" furniture, but it's SO ugly.
please help!
thanks in advance:)

Any ideas?

So, I have a little bit of a problem. Both of my best friends birthdays are coming up within the next month, and I have no idea what to do.

My first friend is a girl, and it's going to be her sweet 16 so I want to make her something that she'll keep and remember. But I don't really have enough pictures to make a scrape book or anything.

And my other best friend is a guy, and he's turning 18, (It kind of sucks that they both have major birthdays this year) and I have no clue what to get for him.

So does anyone have any ideas on what I could get them/ make them. Anything would be helpful. Thanks.

i asked the question before about preserving conversation hearts, and thought i'd show off how my earrings turned out:

i actually used a spray liquid clear coat fixative, which did not run the ink or melt the candies. i secured the pins inside of the hearts by whittling out a little groove in the back of each heart and gluing them in place.

ta-da! thanks for the help, everyone!

For my birthday, I had asked for a thrifted couch for my art room.  I meant something along the lines of a 25 to 50 dollar Salvation Army find.  My mom of course, went above and beyond, and found and gifted to me the greatest little love seat ever (read - eVaR*!!!1oneoneone.)

She recovered it for me as well!! )

A jar I made for my boy because he like poker. I figured he could save change in it for his weekly poker games.

[identity profile] koreluna.livejournal.com
Aieeeg.. Well, my boyfriend's birthday is coming up on the 27th, and now that I finally figured out what I'm going to make, I've run into a dilhemma.

Okay, I have had these two flat jade pendants for years, one has a phoenix and one has a dragon on it(a chinese thing -- the dragon represents the man and the phoenix represents the woman, symbols of eternal love, etc). I suppose I've been saving them up until the right time. ^__^;; But anyway, I want to turn them into bracelets, there's already one tiny hole on top of each piece. I want to put correponding holes on the bottom.

I looked up on jade and it says it's a hardness of 5 or 6, aiee. So I'm not sure what I can do to drill myself. These things are special to me so I don't want to end up breaking them under my clumsy fingers. As a last resort, I can go to this gem driller, but he's notoriously cranky at young people so I'd rather avoid him if I can.. @o;

Anyone have any ideas of hand drilling? Agh, and of course, for HIS bracelet, the hole I need to drill is through the thickest part(about 4-5 mm) while the rest of the pendant is around 1-2 mm. Grr..

Thanks in advance!
