Is there something that I can paint on fabric to make sure acrylic paint doesn't soak in or bleed?
Something that almost seals the fabric, and creates a layer that can be painted on?

I finally got around to making those nifty marble push pins... I think they turned out really good...
Im a moron, though. I couldn't find push pins to save my life, so I used ear rings... and kept the backs for when I loose the ones I have. Hehe...
I took lots of pictures, but only one of them turned out any good, so here's some of them. I'll post the rest of them in the morning. I wanted to resize the pic, but then it would be hard to see the pictures inside the marbles... :)

Oh yeah... And they're all different shades of green, because my room is lime green :D

WHY AM I UP THIS LATE?!?! )

I know that plastic bag purses have been discussed before (like here : here), but what I've seen are only crocheting instructions. Does anyone know of directions for knitting the purses? Or if it's even possible? I don't know how to crochet, only knit, but I want to make one quite badly.

(p.s. I was lucky enough to find one for 75 cents at a thrift shop and I have never gotten so many compliments on a bag before.)

Which do you guys prefer...ironing on images or stenciling. Does one look better than the other? I'm guessing the iron-ons look better and are easier?

Thanks for listening.

I'm trying to find online stores that sell sheeting - the extra wide fabric for making bed linen from. I don't know if it's called something different in the USA since I can find loads of UK stores but none in the USA (where I currently live).

Does anyone know of any stores, or if there is a better word or phrase I can search with?

Thanks!

I still have to glue the little paper thingie in Michelle's gift box, but other than that, these puppies are done! I went to Michael's yesterday and picked up three 99 cent boxes to put the attendants' jewelry in. This will be the attendants' gifts. I may use white excelsior or maybe easter grass or something to put the necklaces/bracelets on top of. I hope this is making sense, it's been a long day.

Now for pictures... )

I'm also painting a small army of clay pots (4 for a $1 at Michaels!) for my centerpieces (pots with candles in them) and also to hold candies/nuts at the reception. I'm also painting and decorating my flower girl basket. I'm hoping to get a good chunk of all this done this week. It sucks that I can't do my actual big decorations (including a couple of topiaries I want to try to make for my wedding site) until the week of the wedding, where the stress will be more, but what's a girl to do?

Anyone have any ideas on what you could do with all of those tiny paint samples that they have in the paint dept. of stores such as Home Depot?
Also, I got StitchNBitch today, thanks to those who suggested it, it looks cool so far.
And, I started making a red&black duct tape purse today with the help of my boyfriend, I'll post pictures when it's done.

I'm hoping someone might have some ideas/instructions/etc about sewing a petticoat.

Example 1
Example 2

And if you're super crafty, what do you suppose they use for the wire in the back of these?

And what about
bloomers?

Thanks ladies.

this may be a really bad idea, in which case I'll deal, but I figured I'd ask. My cellhpone is ugly and grey. But its a flip phone, so I cant really buy a cover for it and I have no idea how to make a cover. Is there any way to decorate it? I was thinking paint or something and being careful not to get it on the screen or buttons, but im afraid the paint wouldnt stick. I don't know. Anyone have any ideas? Or is this a bad idea and I should live with my ugly phone?

Knitting

Eek. I started knitting a scarf today, the go-go-garter stitch scarf from Stitch and Bitch. I left the long peices of yarn when switching threads, but then they were getting in the way. Being the impatient person that I am, I didn't want to take the time to learn how to weave them in, plus I'm lacking a yarn needle. So I tied them off and cut them short, right to the knots. Now I'm noticing that the knots are coming undone. I tied each of the several times, but I'm just wondering what I should do. Are they going to stay tied together? If they come undone, I'm not sure that the yarn will be long enough to weave in. What should I do then?
Side note: I just starting knitting, this is my first real project.

1.where are the proper areas to measure bust, stomach and hips? sounds stupid, but I need to know =P

2.what is the best way to make a skirt? do you just go by waist measurement or do you leave a little extra or take some fabric in?

3.what is the best way to make a shirt?

I have a [geniune] camo military jacket that I got at a thrift store a while ago. It's a bit baggy though, and I want to take in the sides to make it fit better. Now, if I'm doing that, do I have to take in the sleeves as well so that's in proportion to the body of the jacket? And how do I deal with the underarm area? If anyone has worked with this type of fabric before and can give any tips, that would also be great.
Plus...It kinda smells. I've washed it already though and it still has a distinct odor. Should I use something special to wash it in, and if so, what?
Thanks in advance.

Your ideas and advice could help prevent senseless sewing machine abuse.

I've been sewing some things for a friend of mine and the stitches are looking funny. The top side looks great, but the bottom looks all jerky and messy , not really loose, it mostly just looks crooked and wierd. I've tried turning all kinds of dials and pushing all kinds of buttons, but I haven't been able to stop this from happening. I'm wondering if any of you totally awesome people have any ideas as to what might be wrong and what I could try to stop the madness.

The machine is too heavy for me to throw very far (which is what I feel like doing) so I wouldn't get much satisfaction, but I'd probably mess the thing up more than it is and end up regretting my violent act.

Wah.
