I swear (*crosses heart and hopes to die*)I have been keeping track of the community lately but there just isn't much time to post/comment what with being recently employed. Of course, the new(ish) job also impedes my crafting... what with not having as much free time anymore but for some reason I seem to have gotten even more creative and have been having a huge overflow of ideas. I write them out and craft when I have time.

Everyone is making wonderful crafts as always and I am always impressed when I visit the community and read back through the posts. You folks are just super fantastic. :) You're so crafty and creative and fun and supportive of everyone. We have a great group here.

Anywayl, there is a where can I but...? section and a websites: ideas/inspiring section in the memories but I thought perhaps this might be helpful to everyone as well. Since many of us are busy and perhaps not located with in easy reach of quality craft stores, I was wondering if you all would recommend sites online that you have ordered supplies from and that you would recomment to others (and what ones you would recommend we avoid) . I know that, personally, it is easier for me to shop online because of working and such but I never know where I should buy from because I'm never sure what shop sells the best quailty of beads/yarns/wire/clay/paints/fabric for the best price... It would be so much easier if I could reference someone who had used the shop previously and either recommended it or encouraged me to try elsewhere. And I just figure that I am not the only one who could benefit from this. *grin* I just want to thank you all beforehand. Keep up the fabulous crafting!

I've stayed up too late working on organizing my craft area, but it was very worth it. Although I'm not done, I feel much better about the whole situation and can't wait to take it to the next level.

This post has the before pictures. And here ) is a peek at my progress so far. Thank you, guys! All the encouragement and support helped me more than you may have imagined it would. DAMN this place rocks!

Can anyone help me? I'm looking for a place where I can buy enough yellow denim to make some dungarees... Does anyone know of a supplier in the UK? I'm based in the Midlands, a shop would be better but I can buy online if need be...

Thank you!!!!!

i made this awhile ago and never posted it. made it right After valentine's day, actually. it's a bit wrinkled because i already threw it in the closet and moved on to my boyfriend's boyhood superman comic book bag, which is ultra vintage cool.

i actually originally made it reversible, and there are white satin hearts on the inside, but i decided i wanted a zipper, and didn't bother to get a flip over zipper, so now it's Not reversible. heh. the inside hearts are just my little secret.

Pattern

Does anyone know where I could get…like a pattern for a bag or a BIG purse?
I'm having trouble with a backpack. - I get mine mixed up with others in my study group thing and I need one that kinda stands out. {Plus its getting a little worn out…}- I would need something where I could put a lot of books, papers, a wallet and lots of the unnecessary…
So, if anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

i made this purse at the beginning of the school year and it has held up pretty well (excuse the "drunken fouls" that resulted in spills on it). being a poor college student, i didn't want to pay $30 + for its counterpart from delias. excuse the haggard-ness under the cut

At my school, we are having an art show. It's not just a hang your artwork up and stare at it show. It's a make a 3D installation and incorporate your artwork into it. Here is what I am thinking and I would love any spinoffs of this and any ideas you might have as to how to construct it. I am going to make mine like a little cafe with refreshments and a "menu" that lists and describes each piece of my artwork. I want to construct an arch that looks like a window and on the other side of it have some artwork floating and in the background layers of blue acetate or something shiny and dark blue with little lights so it looks like a starry night. I want the whole thing to be very dream like and surreal but I haven't gotten any farther than this. The area I have to work with is brick walls with ceiling tiles, so anything I do I basically construct or use fabric. Any ideas?! PS I have no money, so anything you suggest should ideally be something I could find at good will and tamper with or something I could complete contstruct from home. So think really creative! Thanks so much!

I actually heard about this a couple of days ago, but since nobody had mentioned it, I thought I'd bring it up. Home Depot is now offering a Gift Registry service -- something that I'd be weird enough to use, so thought some other craftgrrls might be interested as well.

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4581661/

And so this isn't too boring, I thought I'd share the little ensemble I made for V-Day (which I've mentioned a couple of times but haven't shown off yet).

My hand-sewn pvc lace-up thong and

My butchered fishnet pantyhose-turned-pvc-top-lace-up-the-backseam-thigh-high nylons.

I'm noticing that the photos show every little stitching screw-up, but IRL it's not nearly as noticeable.

**Edit again dammit -- I've moved them yet again so pleeeease tell me they work now. *rolls eyes*

I've been at it again. I made another dress for my daughter. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I took her yesterday to have her pics taken in it for her 1 year birthday (next week). It's also going to be her Easter dress. Oh, and i made the hair bow clip, too.

I want to make myself some hair flowers. Something like this:

but i have really thick hair so a plain little clip wouldn't really hold much of my hair.
Do any of you have this problem? Anybody know where i can obtain some good strong clippy things....online or otheriwse?
Have any of you made these before?

And once i do get the right kind of clip? How should i adhere the flower? Hot glue?
Open to suggestions.....
Thanks in advance!

it's me again. yesterday i asked about decorating a plastic storage container in this post (http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/3285218.html). i bought the special spray paint for plastic and i spray painted it on and it looks horrible. i ran out of pain and the paint is bubbly and gross looking. so now the question, how do i cover up a horrible paint job? is there any kind of actual paint i can use? i think it's just the psray paint. i always suck at spray painting.

I suppose I could have spent the day working on a project for my class tonight, but instead I spent it in Kenneth Cole and Saks. So when I got home I had only a few hours to throw something together.

Which is probably a good thing, since my last card was a little too elaborate for beginners, but this one is way easy and wayyyyyy too cutesy for me.

The hard thing about working for a scrapbooking store and making cards is only being able to use things the store has available. I'd never use those sticker letters on a card, but...whatcha gonna do?

The first class went really well, after I got over the initial stage fright..heh.

Any ideas for my big Saturday class? I was trying to think of something everyone could use, and all I came up with was birthday cards. *shrug*

2 quick questions for people who make resin bracelets...

how do you drill a hole into the resin after its hardened w/o it messing up?
and
do you coat/seal the top with anything so it's not sticky? cos mine turn up sticky even after sitting around for a few days. thanks in advance!

I had been working on a messanger for my best friend's sister for a couple of weeks. She wanted it made out of rainbow duct tape. While on spring break my Mom said that the local hardware store had some non-classic (non-grey) duct tape, so we went. And to my complete joy, suprise, shock, they had neon duct tape! Neon green, yellow, and pink! Oh I was so happy, I also bought small rolls of blue and white. So I was finally able to finish the bag, although I didn't want to give it up.

I was wondering if any of you could help me figure out how to make this image work for cross stitching....

Peter Fonda (160KB) )

Mostly I'm concerned with is face/hair/head area
I'm not looking to make it all professional looking or anything, I just want to be able to make something that looks somewhat like Peter Fonda in Easy Rider

...actually..do you think the image would work better if I made it look more like a stencil..?
IM SO LOST

thanks so much

I painted a plaster picture frame for my friend, and I was hoping to attach some CD pieces to it. I read the FAQ about breaking CDs into pieces, but I have a problem that I don't think anyone mentioned. I can cut the CDs fine, but the shiny holographic stuff is peeling off--and that's what I want to stay on! If anyone can answer ASAP; I need this done by tonight.

ok let's try this again. i resized the photo before i uploaded it and didn't make it a thumbnail like size.

i have a cat and she's a big spaz. the other day my mom and i were going through the drawers of a vanity i had gotten from my grandmother when she moved back up here and in it were these little pillow things. we were like wtf and didn't see a use in them at first. so last night i was vegging out and my cat's whining at my bedroom door and so i opened it and she had taken the little pillow thing out of a bag we had stored them in of stuff to give back to my grandmother and was dragging it all over the house and chasing it around. she plays with it moreso than a bell ball.

anyways the point of this post is to give you ladies/gents with cats something new to crochet with leftover yarn/polyfill.

i'm not sure how it's made. basically like making a hat i suppose and then make 4 rows and then decrease and stuff with a little polyfill. i don't know how to crochet *only knit* so i'm not sure that i could make up directions. it looks real easy though. i'm sure you could get catnip and stick it in there too but my cat's easily amused.

Alright, I've totally been posting my little heart out here, but I love you girls' ideas...

I need help with my cubicle at work. It is positively depressing to be surrounded by that grey/beige for so long every day. I want to decorate somehow and have a "theme" (just so it doesn't look like a bunch of unorganized junk)...

+3 and some more of my typings... )

I haven't posted for probably a year or so, ha!

Well, I was bored this week and tried my hand at making some AOL CD's into coasters.
I'm pretty damn pleased with my results...They're fun.

I have an oxygen machine that I use at night. Every two weeks I have to change the tubing and plastic container that holds water, so I have about 3 50ft clear tubes. Is there some sort of thing I can do with this clear plastic tubing? One idea I had was to fill it with colored sand and make little bracelets but that's a little young for me, I'm 24.

The tube is very much like this:

Thanks for the tips if there are any :D
