Just thought I'd share more skirt goodness!
My camera is a little off on the color, I promise the waist band matches the purple in the skirt..

I had to share this wonderful woman's yarn with all of you... I just can't keep it to myself.

Buggypup's Awesome Yarn

I knit a hat, two arm warmers, and a scarf out of one 120 yd skein of hers on US size 15 needles. The colors are incredible.

a while back i attempted to make a good friend of mine a scarf-hat. it ended up being quite heavy and she can't comfortably wear it. to make up for it, i made her a purse.

i'm dressing up tomorrow night to go to an eighties tribute thing...and i made a skirt:

i actually cheated a bit and sewed the ruffles to an existing skirt. i didn't have the time or patience to start from scratch! i'm pleased with it though, heh :D

Okay, I've perused the shoe-related and transfer paper archives, but didn't see anything mentioning what I'm about to ask.

I have a pair of shoes (like chucks but not - baseball (or is it basket ball? or tennis?) style, canvas things that cost about £3). I'd like to put a few images (Shel Silverstein illustrations) onto them. The only way I could think of was with transfer paper, the kind you print out and iron on. But I was wondering if this is possible? I don't think the shoes have been coated with anything, but how waterproof would a transfer be? Or is there another way anyone'd recommend for getting an image onto a shoe?

Also, I have a tshirt that I transfered an image onto ages ago. I didn't wear it that much, so it's still there but I'd like to get rid of it (which is sort of the anti problem going by the transfer archives). Is this possible/easy? It would pick off, but that'd take forever.

p.s Am new here. Hello.

I was bored one day, so I went through my comic book collection and got caught up in Dream Hunters, by Neil Gaiman and Yoshitaka Amano.

Amano is one of my favorite artists and I've always wanted something of his to display in my room.

Well golly.

I have this little 4-drawer nightstand here that's just so boring, and I really like this picture in this comic... and I haven't painted anything in a while...

Well, you know where this is going.

If you're interested in making your own I've put up a walkthrough for making dreads on my new DIY craft website.

Sorry but so far the only walkthrough I have is the one for the dreads. P.S Let me know if you're interested in making walkthroughs and contributing to the website.

bracelets

Hello! This is my first post to this community. I'm usually heavily posting in [livejournal.com profile] stamping (I'm the mod there). Anyway, I made some bracelets based on an idea I saw in Somerset Studio. They're for a swap I hosted. Thought all you crafty girls would want to see. I'm kind of proud of them since I am not a beader (despite all the supplies I have!) and it took me many months of research and agony to get this down. I eventually gave up trying to make regular beaded bracelets. I love being able to use fibers for this (I don't knit or crochet but use fibers in my paper arts).

So...here's the link!. The necklace shown is a scan from the magazine I got the idea from. The double-looped one didn't turn out right. I'll probably eventually break it down and make another but for now, it makes a pretty neat wall hanging. All the charms are either shrink plastic or polymer clay that has been rubber stamped (the charm with the snake is a handcarved stamp). Oh, and there are 12 charms per bracelet based on the Chinese Zodiac animals.

x-posted to my own journal and the SRS comm.

Alright, so I just started knitting around christmas, although i never fully learned (i've been working on a scarf for months and i'm only 1/3 of the way done) and I am using cotton tape. I was told that this is the best to start on considering that I am allergic to wool. It's coming along alright but I was wondering what other fibers I could use. My local yarn shop only carries natural fibers, so...yeah.

What are some easy-to-knit yarns that are non-wool, either synthetic or natural? I'd like what I knit to be comfortable, and not cheap looking considering that I'll be putting so much time and effort into it. The cotton tape I have is beautiful but it's a bit unforgiving and tight. I'd be super grateful if someone could point me in the direction of a website with said yarns and or a store (i'm in the eastern US).

second question )
[identity profile] smashkin33.livejournal.com
i have never tryed sewing from patterns before, so i thought i'd give it a shot. clothes i buy from the store i wear a size 8 or 10 and my waist is 30". so i picked up a skirt pattern in the 6-8-10 size. then i got home and looked at the package a little closer and i saw that it calls a size 30" waist a size 16...

my question is, did i really pick up the wrong size pattern? i don't see why they call a size 30 waist a 16.
