I'm currently working on a project, and had planned to make a sculpture with the base itself being sculpey rather than wood or other material. I have the normal white sculpey, and then I have super sculpey (that comes in the greenish box).

I know that they bake differently, as far as they behave differently after baked, one being a bit more flemsy than the other.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience in making a similar project, where you have a sculpey base using regular sculpey, and then mold the figures into place using super sculpey, which the figures will be composed of.

If any of that made any sense. My brain is sputtering.

Okay. I have a billion scraps of various and sundry fabrics and I don't really want to chuck them but I have also run out of ideas about what to do with them.

I have already thought of quilting (yet to do this) and making little drawstring bags because, hey, we can all use those.

If possible items are sellable, so much the better (not in here though!)

I crocheted a post and purchased some Aleene's Stiffen Quick to try and make the bottom stay a perfect rectangle...I've doused it about 4 times now and it's not stiff at all. I'm going to make a lining for the inside but I'm wondering what I can do to make it keep it's shape other than use this stiffen quick because it's not working at all.

I bought this awesome skirt at Value Village and it's way too small on me (in the waist). I want to keep it as a skirt - I do not want to alter it into a shirt or a bag or anything - and I was wondering what I'd have to make it bigger while somewhat retaining the pattern. It's 70% wool, 30% polyamid & the stripes are brown and cream (I'm sorry for the quality of the picture, but my digicam ran out of batteries yesterday and I can't find anymore batteries in my house).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know it's not much, but without a pattern, I was pleased at how it turned out.

I hate to ask questions, but...

I'm sewing a knitting needle roll as a gift today but I don't knit. I need to know what is the longest needle the average knitter owns (in inches, preferably)?

Any other feedback like how many pockets are good or how wide the roll should be would be appreciated. I'll probably only make a single row of pockets, unless I have enough fabric to make a short row for crochet hooks.

Some links with images:
+ crackers+honey (from what I understand, these can hold needles up to 15" long)
+ Sarah's Mostly Knitting Weblog (a few examples)
+ "Roll Your Own Needlecases" (I like these)

Thank you all!

I recently bought some buttons and earring backs (err...or..whatever they're called..hehe) and I wanted to turn the buttons into earrings but I'm not sure which kind of glue would be the best to glue the buttons to the "earrings" Any suggestions are welcome...Thanks :)

for my senior women’s studies project i’ve been exploring the recent reclaiming of traditionally female crafts by young feminists, and looking at whether or not there is something feminist about it, or if in actuality its hurting the feminist movement & setting it back.

-for the second part i’m looking for people who participate in these traditionally female crafts (ie, sewing, knitting, crocheting etc etc etc) to answer some questions. there aren’t many, and it would be a huge huge help!
if yr interetsed- )

i'm trying to make an alttered book, but i have problem... i'm trying to make the pages colorful like ones i've seen, and i think i've seen some people paint their pages... my question is this, if i page the pages, how do i keep the pages from feeling all chalky? do i need to put some gloss over it? is there a certain type of paint people like to use? or is there a better way to cover the pages? thanx in advance.

A few months back, someone posted a website where barbie type dolls had been stripped of paint, repainted, and modified to look like fairies and such. It also told HOW to do this. Does anyone remember the site address? I cant find it for the life of me!

Can I cut a crochet pattern down to 2/3 of the size simply by multiplying the number of stitches it says to make by 66%? It's a pattern for a stuffed crocheted duck that I bought today and I don't want to make it 7.5" tall. So am I allowed to do that to a pattern (I'm assuming it's OK) or will the proportions be all weird (I'm guessing not, but just wanted to check)?

Thanks girls (and guys), you're the best.

Edit: While looking through the crochet memories of this community to see if the question had already been answered, I found this. These gauntlets are UBER hawt and I totally want to make some--but what the heck is a chain stitch arch? My trusty stitchguide.com doesn't have info on it and I don't know where else to turn.

Alright, this maybe a stupid question, but it doesnt hurt to ask. Alright, I made a sewing booboo because I was watching a baseball game on tv and I need a seam ripper. I own one, mind you. It is somewhere at my house. I am at my boyfriends house and I don't really have time to go out and buy one. Do any of you know any seam ripper tool alternatives? Any help will be much appreciated! Thank you!. . .I was thinking maybe using a fork. . .

I'm making my mom a mix tape she can listen to on her way to work. I've had the blank tape for a while. (It's a cassette. My mom's car doesn't have a CD player.) Anyway, I lost the little plastic cassette cover-thinger, so do any of you have suggestions as to how I could make one? Anything would be highly appreciated!
