i don't know if anyone has posted this before, but I found a place that sells great iron on letters and transfers.

I might be buying some myself soon!

[edit: argh..I fixed the link ]

I was looking at this post on image transferring
I want some horror movie t-shirts and since I'm poor I thought I could buy some soft shirts from Goodwill and use that transferring process

what was never really answered, though, is if there is
1. A way to make the image last longer
or
2. A way to get those same results a different way that would have the image last longer

Really, I just hate those basic computer t-shirt transfers and like the way these look

anything...and I mean ANYTHING that you think help me make some killer shirts would be mightily appreciated.

I checked the faq
and I read that whole thread
I swear!

I was looking through the memories to show my boyfriend what a record bowl looked like, and he asked if a record bowl could be made into a ashtray, i said of course, then i had the idea of using an old 45 record, but.. he brought up a very valuble point. What about the monstous hole that 45's have? I looked in the memories yet again, and couldn't find anything. Does any one have any good ideas? I mean we could still make a large ashtray for his coffee, but little ones are just as convenient. anyone help?

does anyone want beer bottlecaps? i've saved up like 3 pickle jars full of the things, sure i was going to do something crafty with them. however, i don't think i ever will. and if i ever will, i'm pretty sure i can save up some more pretty easily :)
anyway, if anyone wants them, they're yours. let me know.

Allo craftgrrls! :) *waves*

I'm currently working on a project which I've deemed "Portable Devotionals" - basically what they are are shadow boxes decorated elaborately to reflect varying dieties, elements, ideas, for people who haven't the space for a full-sized altar area or who would like to take a devotional with them when they travel. Thus far the "prototype" is coming along smashingly (the focus is Gaia), and I have having so much fun doing it. I'd like to do more but here's my dilemma:

I bought the shadow box ready-made at a sale, and it cost $10. That's not too too bad - but they're usually very hard to find and when you can find them they're crazily expensive. I've combed ebay and a few other crafty/decor sites but to no avail. Do any of you clever ladies know where I could get some fairly cheap or perhaps even better, how I could go about making my own without heavy toolery?

Thanks in advance!

:)

Hi girls! I’m writing an article for Shut Up Magazine about diy fashion. I also wanted to include a little about how now stores such as A&F and Urban Outfitters are almost exploiting our creativity by selling “vintage reconstructed” shirts for way too high of a price. If any of you have any suggestions, they’d be welcome!

hey have any of you ever decorated a guitar or seen anyone that has? i got a decent guitar at a really good price, but it was a little beat up in a few places. so i was wondering if anyone would have any ideas of how i could decorate it or cover up the places that aren't too pretty? i know its not necessary, but just for aesthetics i'd like to add my own touch to it. let me know if anyone has ideas! thanks!!

For a school project, I have to make a newspaper that would look like something one would read during the 1920's. I already know how to age it with tea, but I was hoping to look for another way, like how to yellow it. One website said to let the paper sit in the back of a car for a month, but I don't have that much time =X. Any ideas? Thanks!

Has anyone participated in a craft fair? I'm doing one (my first) on May 15th and i was wondering how much people mark up their merchandise. I'm making record bowls, clocks, and marble magnets, and some other stuff. Anyone have any ideas on how much I should sell them for? I've seen record bowls for 30 dollars online but thats way too much. I'd never pay that. Thanks in advance!!

Hooray! I bought Speedball brand "fabric screen printing ink" and whipped up another Ozzy shirt to finally make my first sale...

...and it's even better than my own! )

I also delivered a surprise present I made for a friend tonight too; a quote directly from her when people gawk at her piercings/tattoos...

...and she liked it! )

I'm thinking of painting this mini chest of wooden drawers in white then sanding some of the paint off to give it a distressed / worn look. Can I use poster paints or shld I use something else. I don't want to use a stain as I'm not sure if it will yield the look that I am aiming for.

Would be grateful for your comments!

Its amazing what a little modge podge and some paper will do. This is a long shelf, I was unable to get all of it.

I'm just now starting to get crafty daily so I'm trying alot of new things.  First it was the skirt, then the painting, now a record bowl and a fitted tube top.

Open your eyes... )

OK, so in my apartment I have those cheap, hollow pasteboard type doors. When my cat was a kitten she grabbed a corner of the bedroom door and began to chew, then tear strips of the "wood" coating off of it from the bottom up. UGH! THEN a horrible dresser moving accident smashed a big ol' hole in the front of the door.

Obviously I will at some point be replacing this door before I move out so I can get my $500 deposit back (I normally wouldn't care but my parents expect that money back from looong ago0. Until then I really want to cover it up somehow. I was actually thinking of staple-gunning batting and then fabric/ribbons to it to create a big, big fabric message board and tucking/tacking cool photos, postcards, etc. to it. That would serve as some decoration too, since my apartment is very small and you can see the bedroom door from the living room.

Does anyone else have any other ideas?
