This is probably a silly question but I was wondering if you can use soap dye for candles. I have all the stuff I need to make a candle but no color stuff for them and I was hoping that I could just use the soap dye/color stuff.

My grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration is coming up.
I'm in charge of Favors, among other things, but they seem to be what i'm stressing about most.
I have to make 160-170 of whatever i make. My grandmother really liked these clear swan things, which my aunt picked up and mailed to me. I wish they were white or gold, they just seem to disappear into the background since they're clear.
For the favor, I'm just putting Almond & Caramel hershey kisses since they're both in gold-ish wrappers, trying to stick to the gold theme.
I live in a rural area, and didn't have much luck on the internet either, finding gold tulle circles, and the white ones seem to make them more plain.
They also don't photograph well

My question is what i could do to spruce them up a bit. I find them to be very plain and not very appealing to the eye.
Any Ideas?

I made small chinese take out boxes out of vellum that had silver martini glasses and olives on it (pictures to come later today). I am filling each one with hershey kisses. Since we are giving these out at the beginning of the night, I've decided to put and icebreaker type question in each one. Before dinner everyone will read their question and answer it. I thought this would be good since not everyone knows each other.

I'm looking for some more questions. Its like once I came up with the idea my brain just stopped working. The questions can be silly, serious, stupid, sexual. I don't care, I'm just looking for some help.

HELP PLEASE!! :)

One of my livejournal friends had an icon that I just fell in love with so I used it on one of my bags that I made.

okay, so i finally have my own bathroom for the first time in my life.

and when thinking of the new bathroom and decorating possibilities, i remembered look who's talking, too when mikey is getting potty trained and his friend tells him about the potty monster who eats all the pee-pee.

and now i really really really want a potty monster themed bathroom, and i've already decided on blue and whatnot, but the question being:

how would i stick fur (the kind you can buy at walmart or something) to a plastic toothbrush holder/toilet brush holder/trashcan/etc and have it not warp off with the steam from the bathroom?

also, has anyone ever hand-stiched with fur? i don't have a sewing machine, and will therefore being sewing a big monster to a shower curtain (not liner) and is this going to be too hard by hand? i could always paint.

and, lastly, does anyone think the fur will get mildewy? i'm pretty good about letting bathrooms air out and cleaning them. i would just hate it if i did all of it, and then the fur got all disgusting.

Hi ladies (and gents),
I stumbled across a perfectly intact dog skeleton this morning and thought the ribs would look wicked in a necklace.

One side is completely bleached white from the sun, but the other, I'm sorry to say, is still stained and encrusted in dirt. Also, the tips of some of the bones have been charred (my guess is that the animal died in a controlled burning of the nearby forests).

I was hoping someone might have experience with bone preservation/cleaning/etc. I'd hate to have this go to waste and be brittle in a matter of days. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone!
I'm working on crafting some stepping stones (pre-molded stone [cement] circles) for my front lawn and I would like to put some Asian lettering on them.
I'm sort-of clueless as to how to go about this tho.
I have considered printing out the words and then cutting stencils but all the supplies required are going to stretch my budget slightly further then I had planned.
Another idea that came to mind was printing out the words and going over them with a heavy weight lead pencil and then putting it face down on the stones and going over the back with a pencil to sort-of transfer it. And then painting them with patio paint.
Has anyone tried anything of this nature onto stone? Or would happen to have a better suggestion for me? Freehand is really not an option as I really suck and drawing.

Thanks in advance!

a good online source for sherpa. I'd like it to be organic, but everything I have found to that end is over 12$ a yard.

Anyone have a tried & true online source for it? And (relatively) cheap? Everything I have found that is on the cheaper end is a cotton/poly blend, which I do not want.

Or a good alternative, just as soft and absorbent as sherpa. I am using it on the inside of cloth diapers, so it wont be seen (in other words, it does not have to be pretty, just functional) but I don't want to have to use so much it looks like I put four dipes on my boy.

Here are the finished favors. I couldn't get a picture of the insides cause they are small. Each one is filled with shreds of the printed vellum, hershey kisses, and 1 question.

I got the take out box pattern from here.

okay. you know that grungy flaky crust that gets stuck on stuff when batteries explode?
is there a good way of getting rid of it?
also, after batteries explode, do they generally ruin whatever they exploded in?

Help?

I'm trying to figure out how to make a mold for polymer clay out of a doll. I have a small doll and I want to make a mold of her body so I can make more doll bodies. The pre-made molds just aren't that pretty.. If I do each part individually .. but how would I get it all even?

*thinking*

For the person who messaged me asking me about where I got the rings I used in my chainmail (sorry, since you're not on AIM it won't let me message you back now and I have no other way to contact you since I don't know your lj username), I got the rings from http://www.dcwireworks.com/rings/rings.html -- they were the aluminum brite ones.

Does anyone have experience using a jig (not the one used to saw jump rings, but the one for making uniform bends) for wire work? If so, how did you make it, what kinds of things do you use it for, etc etc. And any other information that I'm not educated enough to ask about would be good too.

thanks, Spoon O==

I'm redecorating my room this summer and I decided I wanted to get rid of all of my old AOL cds. I checked the FAQ and Memories but I didn't find anything about this... I was thinking about making a CD curtain type thing, and hanging them along my walls, but I can't figure out a way to hold them all up,and I don't necisarily want glue all over my newly painted walls. I was thinking about maybe using some string or something, any suggestions?
