(the kind where you can take the base out and put your own pictures in) i know they had them at starbucks for a while but the location closest to me does not carry them anymore. id really like to have one by fathers day so if any of you ladies know a place i could look i would really really appreciate it.

Hi everyone!

I just started a new community called [profile] krafty_kitchen.

This is a brand new community for people who love to play with and make fun things out of food. It's a place for people to discuss food crafts (both edible and non-edible), novelty food preparation, and entertaining. Food photography and creativity is encouraged, and so is sharing your ideas.

Everyone is welcome, you don't need to be a gourmet! I challenge you to get creative and crafty with whatever's in your kitchen and join! It's food and it's fun! :)

I've looked through the FAQs, and perhaps I've missed it, but I'm trying to find information on how to go about custom painting an acoustic guitar (what paint to use, how it will affect the sound, etc.). I'm clueless. Help?

Hey everyone!

A few days ago, someone had replied with a link to a kids craft site. I had bookmarked it, but the bookmark didin't work! I've been looking through past posts, but I cant find it again, and I looked in the FAQ, and I coulden't find it either. It had a ton of ideas on uses for pony beads, and just really a ton of kind crafts. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, could you please post the link? :D

Thanks in advance!

Woohoo! I'm rather excited today because I finally finished my first knitted hat. It's actually a gift for a friend who is leaving for college back east, and I think she will like it. I started on Monday and finished up today. I probably could have finished sooner of if I didn't have so much studying to do.
The hat! )

Ladies and gentlemen, could you dear crafty peoples offer some advice to me.
I want to make myself a new menstrual activist t-shirt, I’m going for red with black text, however not quite sure how easy that is going to be. Being black on red then the screen-printing might work, but might not, it wouldn’t be a real solid colour. For the main image on the front it may be suitable to screen-print, however I want text on the back – which would make it very hard, if not impossible. I do have access to very good screen-printing materials and screen-printer itself, so I know it would be up to the job, it’s just the matter of the effort with the text and whether black on red would work well that’s the problem with that idea.
The only other thing I can think of to do is embroidering, I have the Singer Quantum XL-6000 and the Professional Sew Ware 2.0 to play about with, so I can create the image on my PC and program it into the sewing machine (ever so crafty huh?), however even with the satin thread it might still be too thick to have on a lightweight t-shirt.
Has anyone any idea about what could be used to get an image and writing, in black onto a red cotton t-shirt so that it remains bold and that it doesn’t involve too much work in applying the lettering?

Hello,
I checked in the FaQ section under faerie costumes, costumes, flowers and a few other sections i thought this may be in but did not find it. Does anyone know where i can find directions to make a flower wreath to wear around the head. If it was just for me id swing it but its for a little girl and I dont want any little wires to be poking her and want it as comfy as possible so any help would be appreciated!

ra-ra skirt. )

this is the first skirt i've made and it was all from the top of my head. i'm going to be taking closer pictures for the detailed parts like on the heart etc.

measurements are about a UK 10/12. it's a little too small for the person modelly, hence the tug on the fastening.

xposted like a biatch.

I don't remember exactly where I saw this, but someone on a craft type journal posted a shirt/sweatshirt? they stenciled with the beatles's faces on them.
if you were the one that did the shirt, could you email me? I'd like to talk to you! :)

I've been a busy bee so far this weekend with the making of another pouch. This time, a cute dove like birdy pouch! The only thing I need to do for this is to find a new drawstring. The one currently in place is just tempoary until I can find a nice thin cord suitable. Once again - hand sewn and using vintage kimono silks. And for once in my life - I actually took a decent photograph. Go me!

Side On Without Cotton Stuffing in Pouch

The Pouch

I had intended on making a photograph tutorial for this - but got so caught up with what I was doing that I forgot to take photographs of all the steps. I did however, get one photograph of the fabric cut out...so I think I'll post that and give a text tutorial.

Tying Off

I avoid handsewing as much as possible. But there are those inevitable times when it's just gotta be done. My least favorite part is tying off. It seems it takes me just as long to tie off my thread as it does to handsew whatever I just sewed. This is how I do it: make a loose knot, stick my needle into where I want the knot to go, then tighten thread around needle, repeat about 4 times. But a lot of the time my knots end up spaced away from each other. When this happens I end up tying about 12 knots, maybe more.

There has got to be a better way. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Hi, for a photography final we have to make books with all of our pictures from throughout the year.
The photography part I have, but we have to physically make a book. Pretty muuch everyone is making theirs out of cardboard and fabric, but I want mine to be unique. Problem is, I'm not too crafty and am having trouble thinking of something to make the book out of.
I don't really want something that looks like a typical book, and maybe not something rectangular. I was hoping to somehow bind flar objects together with pages. Does that make sense?

Any ideas are both appriciated and helpful. :D
oh, and if anyone is interested in seeing the pictures I'm putting in the book, they are all posted Here

i keep telling my best friend that she needs to decorate and sell furnature for a livng. She's awsome at finding a piece of furnature (coffee table for example) and finding a personality for them. Not too long after she moved into her apartment four years ago, she found this long wooden coffee table in someones trash, in semi perfect condition. Fist she had painted it silver and put duct tape on the edges so peoples shoes wouldn't rub off the paint. Butit didn't suit the table. So then she painted it black, and added some color with... believe it or not... finger nail polish. She later found another coffee table and didn't want this awsome piece of work, so she told me i could have it... hehe i tottaly accepted it.
Coffee anyone? )
