i was clicking around online and i found this, another use for aol cds, not terribly crafty per se, but there are always so many questions about what to do with the cds, so i thought i'd put it up.

Hi, I just joined this community and I love it already. I've been looking around here and I think you all are very creative. I am working on a big project right now. It is a fashion magazine called "Sapphire". You probably have seen my posts about this in other places. I thought this would be a great place to find help for it though.
I am looking for people who like making their own clothes, as well jewelry and other accessories. People who make crafts and other type's of art are also accepted. This magazine will be featuring fashion created by up and coming fashion designers, small businesses, and boutiques and all the other undeground fashion you rarely hear about. I was originaly asking people to donate their work to the project for my models, but then decided it would be a lot easier if people used their own models and had their own photo shoots from their locations. I made a community for people interested in helping out in the wardrobe department and would love it if you could all come and join me.http://www.livejournal.com/community/sapphire_design/

I noticed a few people on here who have some similar projects going on and would love to work with you all as well, so you are also welcome to join.

Hope to see you all there!

Thanks,

Sarah

I need the help of all you crafts girls!

I've had an online journal since 2000 or so. I want some way to document all that has happened in those 4 years since I started writing online.

The easiest way I can think of is to print it all up on 8x10 paper and stick it in a binder.

But that's boring!

What I'd like to do is print it on paper that's journal sized/book sized aka: small than 8x10. Can you buy paper that small? Could a printing company print it up for me? Ideally, I'd like to print on both sides of the page, thus saving paper and making it more like a book to read.

Has anyone here done anything similar? Any experiences/advice you could share?

Below are details on how I made the Save the Date postcards for our wedding. I sent this to a fellow member of [livejournal.com profile] weddingplans. I've been meaning to save this info somewhere before I forgot how to do it - maybe someone can use it. They use vintage postcard stamps and are similar to ones Martha Stewart Weddings featured last year (except the suggested just having a stamp made instead of doing it on the computer).

i have heard of rosary beads made with flowers... my great.grandmother passed last week and the flower arrangements were SO beautiful. she was an artist and i thought it would be ideal to salvage what flowers i can and make something timeless. i would like a simple wrist braclet. do any of you lovely crafters know how i might be able to do this? or where i can take the petals to be made into beads?

creatively yours,

This used to be a regular t-shirt, size large. I got it from my friend, who got it at a thrift store. I always liked it but it was too big so I always felt frumpy whenever I wore it, so I decided to give it a new look:

let's dance! )

Anywoo, the point of me posting is that I am not really satisfied with it....it feels incomplete. I want to do something with the sleeves, but not off-the-shoulder look since I already did that with 2 shirts(however I do want sleeves of some sort). So maybe ruffles or something....I don't know....any ideas? Also I am thinking I should probably cut off the collar. It looks weird....like the first half of it looks like some regular old shirt, and then at the bottom it's more like a "top," if that makes any sense. I'm thinking some yellow ribbon and/or a bow should be incorporated somehow. Any suggestions on how to spruce up the top half is greatly appreciated! thanks!

(Ok, I did check the memories of the communities that had memories, and I couldn't find the specific question I needed answered - if I missed it, though, feel free to yell at me)

I have a big, ugly wooden coffee table that none of my roommates want when we all move out, so I'm taking it and redoing it. I've decided on a decoupage/paint mix. NOW, I already found the answers to my decoupage questions in the memories, but here's my paint questions:

The wood has been finished off with some sort of shiny lacquer already - so for the parts I want to paint over, am I going to need to sand it down and prime it first? And, (this is the stupid question) what kind of paint would be best for painting a wooden coffee table in the first place? And what would I use to finish it? I've only painted little wooden jewelry boxes, and I could get away with little bottles of Acrylic for those, hence my uncertainty. =o)

Thanks for any help(or *thwacks* on the head for not finding this in the memories)!

I have some questions. I am in desperate need of some money (who isn't??) so I was thinking of selling some of my creations. I have tons of handpainted chairs, picture frames, boxes, trunks, etc strewn about my room and I would love to make money off of them. Maybe even painting requests for people. I was searching on Ebay for comparable products and found a lot (kids furniture seems to be a niche). However, none of the items seemed to have any bids. Has anyone else tried this avenue and actually made a profit?

I'm working on family tree(s) for my fiance and I, and am making both our joint ancestor tree and descendant trees for each of our grandparents. Mostly, I need ideas for the descendant trees!

I got the idea for the ancestor tree from here: photo behind cut ) It works pretty nicely, but doesn't really work at all for the descendant trees. I don't know where to add spouses (relatives by marriage but not blood), and second marriages and children make it even more complicated (ANY suggestions on how to handle this are appreciated greatly!). How can I show the decendants of each pair of grandparents???

The ancestor tree will be framed, but for the descendant trees (charts?) I was thinking of displaying it as a scrapbook with photos. However, I'm open to any suggestions that will allow me to use both the photos and tree, and would love to keep with the natural/handwritten tree theme rather than a sterile-looking chart.

Thanks, creative people! :)

Hey there,

I guess I'm looking for some input on my future bedroom organization/color usage/decoration. I'll put the images under a cut, but I've got the layout, potential color pallete, and the lime green chair that must come with me.

...? )

Please forgive me if this has been discussed, but does anyone have any ideas on how to make the top part around the bust of THIS tube top? I've been seeing these all over the place, but whenever I try one on, the top stretches all funky because I guess you could say I'm rather well endowed in that area *blushes* so does anyone have any ideas? I'd love to make one of these on my own, possibly with a soft salvation army t-shirt.

have gandered through the memories but nothing has struck my fancy.

i have 6, same sized photos, all about 4 inches by 3 inches, and i wanted to have then in a line top to bottom. i cannot find anywhere anything that will hold these photos being this size. so i'm guessing any other alternative is make on???

but how? has anyone ever tried making a photo frame for a number of photos before. also, i'd like it to look pretty good because it'll go on a wall with other frames...

*sigh

My boyfriend asked me if I would make him some curtains for his bathroom because he tried to wash the ones that were in there (which were in there when we bought the house) and of course the lining ripped. I hate curtains with lining. :-p Now I am not very good at using the sewing machine yet, and some of the stitches are not....well, not straight at all. LOL But I think they look cute!!

I went to Wal Mart today to buy some Mod Podge but being the broke student I am, I didn't buy any. Here's my dilema: I want to deco a box. It's a pretty sturdy one, not like a cardboard box, but like the ones you buy at JoAnn for painting and such. My question is can I dilute down some Elmer's glue with water and use it like Mod Podge? I know it obviously won't be waterproof or sealed like aryclic medium would but would it keep everything down? It doesn't need to be real hard or anything, just needs to keep the paper onto the box.

I was inspired to post this little dragon thingy when I saw the polymer birds. I made this half a year ago, but I just recently joined this community.

hey girls, this is my first post here. I looked through the memories for this but didn't find any posts, so sorry if this has been asked before..

the other day, out of boredom, I went to Garden Ridge with barely any money (I'm talking a quarter and some dimes here) and I found... crayola crayons for FABRIC. I am desperately in love with crayons, and it seems to be faster than screen printing or using a stencil, but I am extremely frugal and also new to crafting.

so.. have any of you tried these before on a t-shirt or anything? are they worth the money and are they as easy to use as the back of the box claims?

(thank you for any comments in advance <3)

Hello there!

I'm not new to Polymer Clay, though my crafting has been on a bit of a hiatus for a while. Now that I've got the time and inspiration to start crafting again, I've bought a fresh supply of Sculpey and a few tools (including a pasta machine which is one of the coolest things ever!). I have a few books, but right now they're all on loan to my mother, so I needed some inspiration.
At Polymer Clay Central, I came across a tutorial by Dinko Tilov called Birds with Teeth. Now, this title was just too good to pass up, so I took a look and feel in love with the kindof twisted, caricature-style figures presented there. Here is the result of my first attempt:

Close-ups of each of these little guys can be found on my website.
