To you lovely ladies that use sewing machines...I need help.

I have a very old Singer, probably a model from the 60s or 70s, that up until now has worked fine. Today I sit down to sew my boyfriend some curtains and *wham* it fucking sucks.

This is the front, the stitch on the left is a tighter stitch, the one on the right slightly looser:

Alright, that looks good and normal, sure.

But here's the back, in all of it's messed up glory:

What's going on? Does anyone have any clue how to fix it? Oh, and this isn't the material for my boyfriend's curtains, haha.

It is my neighbour's 50th birthday today, so I made this necklace for her. She's a funky, hippie lady that I absolutely adore...I hope she likes it :)

Office supplies are my weakness. Well, ONE of my weaknesses.
What am I supposed to do with 50 of these? Other than use them for gift tags and such.

I'm trying to put an image on a glass mug, and am using that etch cream they sale at michael's. anyway, in order to make my OWN stencil, the directions said to put the image on contact paper so it will stick on the glass. my question: how do i get it ON to the contact paper? i tried to print the image i wanted, colored all over the back (hard) with crayon and then traced the image so that the crayon on the back of the image would transfer onto the contact paper, but that didn't work so well. Now i'm all out of ideas. Does anyone have an suggestions? I'd really appreciate the help. :) thanx

I am fixing to go about making a gift for a dear relative of mine and it was going to include making my own paper. But i’m not too sure of how to do that. I know that the process involves using a blender and something about screens or something but could some one maybe give me a link to a site that would have really good directions on how to make paper, or even maybe make a tutorial? I would really appreciate this. Thanks a lot.

I have a question requiring adding things to a shirt. I read the memories and everyone had good suggestions for putting words on a t-shirt...such as puff paint, this regular paint...etc.
But no one said how well they stay on shirts.
Like...which stays best after repeated washes? The paint or the puff paint?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
I am looking for something inexpensive. I could get the iron on letters, but don't they cost a pretty penny?
I have a computer, but my printer doesn't work right and I wouldn't want to print out the image on the proper paper then iron it on. Did that make sense?
I would prefer to be able to do something free hand on a shirt. Perhaps draw on it first and then paint over it.
I am not a stranger to puff paint, I love that stuff, and it was mentioned as something to use. I just have not used the stuff in awhile and I forget how well it stays on after washing.

Thanks!!

its overcast and rainy outside and my fiance is working so i had to find something to entertain myself with. i figured i would start working on our engagement party invites. my sister is technically the host of the party, but shes not really crafty this way and i really wanted to work on these.

these are the invites i bought at a paper store (the colour is a little off). we cant afford to buy expensive invites through a wedding store or anything. even with my sister and my parents helping out with this party, we dont have much of a budget.

instructions and more pics )

this is the first complete one. its a bit rough on the edges, but the rest will look nicer.

you can slide the invite out through the top or the bottom of the wrap, or you can just unlace it. im really happy with these so far. i still might change them a bit more, but ill have to wait and see. i have an idea using a vellum overlay over part of the actual invite, but im not sure if ill do it or not.

Oh If only I remembered what this yarn was called. It was a thick and thin.. With the thin being too thin... So I doubled it up with some glitterspun and double crocheted with a P hook.. No Pattern... yeah...

hey. i looked in the FAQ to find out some stuff about making capri pants. i'd like to make a pair, because i have neat fabric, and i can't afford to go out and buy a pair. also, most pairs of women's pants don't fit me because i'm strangely proportioned, so i'd like to make my own.

anyway, all i could find there were links on how to take old jeans/pants and turn them into capris but chopping the bottom off. i don't want to do that. heh. does anyone know where i could get a decent tutorial on how to start from scratch? i've googled it like a crazy person and can't find any good info. help?

Okay, at the risk of sounding dumb...how would someone go about dyeing a white wife beater? I am planning on buying a bunch of them in white (cheap) and then dyeing them. The only problem is I have no idea what to use, where to buy it, and if it will run in the washing machine and ruin all my other clothes. Please help. Thank you. <3
