I posted a picture of this bag the other day.

I ripped the bag apart today and added a band of black to the top, to make it look a little more proportioned. I also moved the snap and added another band of ribbon trim between the pink and black.

this might sound strange, but i need to know the measurements of a standard twin sized duvet.

i want to make a new cover for mine but it's about thirteen hundred miles away and i don't know the measurements. i haven't thought of a quicker or easier way of finding my info than craftgrrl, so please help me out.

Edit: I fixed it!

Urban Outfitters sells shirts that say "Everyone Loves a German/Irish/Italian/Jewish/Latin/Asian Girl," and nearly everyone in my neighborhood wears them. Here's one of them for reference.

The page selling the shirts says "Show Your Pride!"

So I made a parody shirt showing my pride.

When I finished painting down the stencil, it looked like this:

And I let that picture sit in the community until I figured out to mix up some paint as close to the color of the T-shirt as possible and fix it by hand.

This is not exactly the time of the year for this, but I decided to put the pretty purple yarn that I've had for over a year to use finally. I am by no means a good crocheter, but this was fun.

I basically just crocheted a little loop the size of the part of my arm that I wanted to end it at, and crocheted a tube up to my wrist, made a loop for my thumbs and crocheted around them. This involved a bit of unraveling, but overall, they went pretty fast.

Hello all, I have an important question.

I have been making and selling bags recently and I've been using thicker material like canvas.

The only problem is that I can't seem to find a machine needle thick enough to go through the canvas. I've actually broken 2 needles size 18/100 in 2 days :/

The woman at the store suggested 16/100 for denim but that's too thin! Can anyone tell me what size/type of machine needle I should use when working with canvas/duck cloth?

Has anyone seen Penguin fabric or possibly Adult Swim print fabric?

hi, i just joined but have been watching this community for a while and have gotton very inspired by you all.

my question is in regards to mod podging inkjet photos (shiny side out) on the back of clear glass plates. the memories says you should coat the photos with a sealant or hair spray so the ink won't run. i can do that, but i was also wondering if i printed the photos out on regular paper or cardstock would they still run? i wouldn't think the type of paper would matter since it's being mod podged anyway.

any other hints anyone has about mod podging photos to clear glass plates would also be helpful to know before i begin my project. thanks!

I'm making bookmarks, and need some clever ideas. I have some made already, but I'm interested in making more. Can you give me any ideas?

Where do ya'll get your quality, interesting fabrics? I haven't found much I care to use at places like Jo-Ann's or Hancock's. Ideally I would want something like a jobber, but I don't think they sell in small enough quantities and they usually require you to be a business. So are there any good on-line sources for fabric?

I have several champagne glasses that look like these:

http://www.factorydirectcraft.com/wedding/70301.gif

And I would like to use them to hold pencils and pens. Kinda classy but not really. The only problem is that they look quite boring. I don't want to etch any design on the glass so Im not sure what I can do to make it look nicer. I thought maybe of wrapping ribbon around it(spiral design) but I couldn't it the ribbon to stay. So if you dudes have any ideas it would be appreciated. Thanks

so i had spraypaint, spray glue, a really ugly purple trunk, a bunch of old magnetic poetry, and memorabilia i wanted to do something with, other than keep them on my bulletin board, which my cat recently figured out how to get off the wall...

Does anyone have any experience with removing sleeves from a dresshirt.
I have some nice ones, that are a bit snug in the arms, but otherwise fit just fine.
I figured if i cut the arms off, i could make them sleeveless, and still wear under a jacket or cardigan.

Any suggestions or links would be appreciated!

Thanks

I want a really particular type of fondant wedding cake and don't really trust that any of the cake decorators are A. going to be able to make it and B. if I find one that can it will be too expensive. I am considering making my own cake. I know it sounds insane, but I want to try it out now(a year or so ahead) to see if I can do it. Does anyone know of any good wedding cake decorating books? I did a search at Amazon and was overwhelmed by the results. I know Colette Peters is the queen of wedding cakes, but does anyone know if her book is helpful and informative or merely a picture book to awe over? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. If I were to get good at this, I could do this for a living!

another question for all of you out there:

i bought my sewing machine today; even though i didn't get any help about what to get i think i found a good one for my needs. now of course my little crafty mind starts to whir and i begin looking up fabrics.

okay, i lied, two questions:
1: does anyone know where to purchase pearl buttons/snaps, a la western cowboy shirts? (i love these things) in addition can anyone suggest a good place to look online for findings/buttons, perhaps somewhat retro-looking ones? i haven't dared to look at ebay yet...

2: i love some of the geometric patterns that are mixed in in traditional japanese fabric, such as this or this. (note: what i'm referring to isn't the actual print but the pattern/print inside the example, such as in the fans of the second picture). but i haven't really been able to find fabric like this, though perhaps i'm looking in the wrong places. has anyone seen any fabric like this?

hope i didn't write this too confusingly! once i actually make something, i'll find a way to post it. thanks!

Help!!

Rememer in preschool when you made a candle holder?? You would take cut up pieces of tissue paper and attach then to the jar or whatnot. So when the candle was inside the tissue paper would reflect the colors of your tissue paper.

OK-my question, does anyone remember how we attached the tissue paper? Did we use watered down elmers glue? Does that dry clear? What else would work?

I'm trying to make one with my daughter and do not know what to use. Thanks for all your help!!!!

I recently made a handbag with a flap. I thought I had regular velcro but it is the sticky back kind. I have regular and industrial strength. Has anyone had any luck with it staying stuck to fabric?

My second question is does anyone have any suggestions for other ways to close it that involves stuff I probably already have? Also I would rather not have to rip it apart.
I will post pics after it is done and after the person who I am sending it to receives it.

I'm having a candlelit dinner next month. All lit by candlelight, and foods cooked over open flames, fondue and bananas foster for dessert.

This is a boxed invitation (without the box, obviously.) It's a embossed glass candle holder. Each invitation has a different candle holder, there is hope, joy, life, health, and love. Then a candle to go in the holder thats embelished with a tag I printed and then embossed and eyelash fibers.

The invitation is printed on 5x7 cardstock with a vellum overlay printed in light teal. The word candlelight is printed on the vellum, it's hard to tell in the picture.

I just got a new fabulous printer, so I'm having lots of fun with it.

I have a CD to include in the box. It's a cd with a matching cover with Imogen Heap's "Candlelight" on it. Just a fun little gift.

That's all.

Enjoy.

Hey I just joined and I love to sew....buuuuut theres something wrong with my machine. It feeds the fabric through in reverse even though the reverse key is not down, so if I sew I have to do it backwards. I checked the memories and found nothing like my problem so maybe someone here could help me...?
