Does X-rated fabric exist? Maybe just naughty fabric in general?

i recently moved into a new apartment, which i love. the only problem is that my bedroom window faces the street, and i can hear cars, sirens, and drunkards at all hours. there is a huge tree in front of the window, which helps, but it's still rather loud. is there any kind of fabric i could use at night to absorb some of the sound(a la school of rock), or anything else i could do? please and thank-you.

Well, university life will be starting again in a few months. Does anyone have any nifty ideas for school accessories? I've made notebooks out of cereal boxes, but that's about it.

Thanks everyone for all the wonderful compliments on my Snape doll. I went ahead and stayed up late and made the latest one Sirius Black!

The hair was tricky (especially the moustache) and I still am not sure about it and I wanted to give him more realistic eyes. Hope you all like him!

Necklaces

I finally have some stuff to post!

Red beads and red pendant on wire.

Paper mache beads I made myself out of strips of magazine paper.  I put them on stretchy black cord.

One long wire covered in beads to wrap around my neck 4-5 times or around my wrist a ton of times.

Toggle clasp.

Blue beads on wire.

Sorry that my pics aren't the greatest.

Hi!

I have an old, DIY ankle length denim skirt. Well...not anymore, now I have a super-short denim skirt and a long denim piece I'm intending to turn in to a ruffle.

My question is this:

The jean skirt is now waaaaay big on me in the waist and only a little big on me in the hips. I need to resized the waist, but without making the hips/butt too tight or look funky in a bad way.

Does anyone have any experience with resizing in this way, and if so, could you please share?

Thanks a million! <3

is there a kind of marker/paint i could use on records that wouldn't melt when baked? i wanted to use a silver paint marker to write lyrics on a record bowl but i'm sure i'm going to have to get way more creative than that if i want it to work!

So this is my first offcial post. Including pictures.
I make a lot of craft stuff. But I was finally inspired to scan some of my stuff. Here are my creations from me getting bored and sitting in a hotel with a little brother pretending to eat me...

aaaah! real monsters! )

I'm new to decorative sewing and was wondering if anyone had an idea as to wear I could find some diagrams or what have you for some decorative stitches (by hand)? Attempting what would seem to be the simple chain stitch, I have found I am going to need improvement on it. Thanks everyone, for humoring a clueless girl =)

(x-posted to communities where some might be able to help)

Hello! Well, this thursday I get to fly back home to california. I just now realized, how the hell am I going to be able to continue to work on my crochet projects when airport security is so tight? Before driving up here with my grandparents, I purchased a set of plastic hooks. Now, that leaves the scissors... I know there's those plastic kiddie kinds out there... but some even have the little strip of metal.

Well, what I'm getting at is... what do you use?

Does anyone know of any ways to shrink a cotton t-shirt besides hot water and dryer?

I would google it, but I have no idea what its called, so I wouldn't know what to look for.

I want to get one of those (white plaster head shaped things)? See, I really don't know. I've seen at least one person on this community who has one and uses them to display her hats. So does anyone know what they are called or where to buy one? Thanks

[first time poster, how exciting] I just finished my first non-sucky bag. Well. "Finished," in a sense. I have yet to add a lining or buttons to close it up; I'm not sure if I want to or not. Alas, I am impatient, and am posting pictures anyway.

Comments/suggestions/critiques are highly appreciated. Nothing too harsh though, this is the first thing I've made completely from scratch. :D

I made this bag entirely of Duct Tape.

some people sew, some knit. I stick.

Below is the bag in a few contextual situations for you to better understand it's purpose.

Today I played with glycerin and made soaps and I cant tell you how easy and fun it was! For anyone who has been intimidated by making soap, then this is a fun easy project for you.

You just shave off slices of the glycerine with a knife, and put it in a microwavable bowl microwaving for 30 second intervals until melted. Dont stir it, because it will get bubbly.

For my soaps I did a experiment with cut out magazine images, I was worried that the oil in the soap would ruin the paper but they were suspended perfectly in the soap.

If you try this yourself you need to fill your mold halfway, let it sit for a few minutes and firm up before you put the image in the soap. Then I let it sit for a while longer to make sure it was fairly firm, then I poured the rest of the glycerine on, and topped off the mold.

If you dont wait long enough the new hot soap can actually curl up the image and make it sink all crooked into the first layer of soap, so patience is really important.

I dont know how sanitary this procedure would be if you wanted to sell soaps like this, but for myself Im not that finiky.

I let the soap set up for about an hour then I pulled away the sides of the mold letting some air in, then when I flipped it over the soap popped out. I used clear plastic soap molds, though Im sure the latex flexi molds would work much better.

I hope this will encourage some of you who have never worked with soap to try it, I had a blast!

OH! And I almost forgot! Maybe one of you professional soapmakers could tell me a way to shine my soaps so they stay nice and clear and sparkly on the surface?

I'm a bit happier now I finished my second transformers bag. This one has a shoulder strap and it's fully lined with blue material, and has a blue snap across the top as a closure.
