The first shirt screened besides a test scrap. I love how it turned out. Someone else mentioned it earlier, but Wet Seal has buy 1 get 2 free. So I got 6 shirts to screen on. This is so fun!

What are some great craft books for a beginner crafter that are under $20?

I really want to pick up some books for ideas.

Or do you think some crafty books would be in the library?

This weekend I made an attempt to use resin. It seems promising. My first mistake was not mixing well enough, and I ended up with a rubbery result, which is cool, but not what I was looking for. I have a question about suspending things in the resin. How do you keep it from sinking to the bottom? Can you suspend items (like say, a very large dead hornet) in it by going through two sessions? pour some, let it harden, then put the object in and pour over it? Will the two come together to make one seamless piece of resin?

thanks much

Thanks everyone for your comments in helping me with the scissors-on-the-airplane problem, I've decided to print out the pdf a lot of you linked to show them if they confront me. I'll take a pair of rounded tip scissors, nail clippers, and the floss box... along with a self addressed thing for them to send any taken-away objects. If you're wondering why I need scissors, I'm making two projects that are both granny squares. One is a poncho for my half sister, the other is a sweater for my step cousin. My step cousin and her twin brother were born premature, they were sharing a placenta (sp). She's still on oxygen, but he's off now. They're a little bit over a year old, but she's still really tiny.

Who can show me a decent website about sewing pattern copywrights? Knitting patterns?

See, I NEEEEED to use up scraps and I decided to make and sell little things, from purses to hats to pyjamas, etc. But I am lousy at drafting patterns and I want my stuff to be good, and I spotted good ideas in books and with patterns. But I know it's practically immoral to make and sell them exactly, so I want to be inspired (read: based off them) by these.

So who can tell me about this? I've heard that one has to change a pattern by 30%, but what constitutes a change? Would extra trims or sizing be considered a "change"?

I already checked the FAQ but those memories have more to do with images than sewing/knitting patterns.

I have a quick question. I am trying to create those large bricks of soap that you slice (almost like a loaf of bread) with an interesting design made of other soap inside. I have seen sailboats and all kinds of stuff crafted inside these soaps at different shops around town, but I can't figure out how to create what I am looking for (a communist shape, for a friend of mine) I figure that it should be made with glycerine soap, but if I am wrong let me know. Anyways, after all that, I guess my question is, how do i do this? Do I have to carve shape and then embed it like normal, or is there an easier way?

dog collars

I have a question:

Has anyone had any experience making dog collars?

I was thinking of using the ribbon belt idea for the collar. I think this might work because other collars rub my dog's neck making it red, and this could work if i get light or small enough D rings to use.

Does anyone have any ideas? They will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

I recently made a bookbag out of this very pretty white and pink fabric and I thought, to be cute, I'd make the pockets out of lace and then use lace trim remnants (a few leftover feet) to make the strap. But then once I put it on with books in it, it sagged and stretched because of the strap being a bit weak. Does anyone know how I can keep the lace look of the strap and reinforce the strength preferably without removing the lace (I went overboard and doubled back and forth, like, 12 times with a satin stitch in two rows on each side)...? I can't think of how to reinforce it.

I got an adults medium shirt...I wanted to make it a bit smaller and possibly into a tube top type shirt?

I saw a tutorial on here before but now I can't seem to find it...can someone point me in the right direction?

Last year I covered a notebook with a Chaka Khan album cover and decorated it with rhinestones for my school notebook. This year I decided to keep it simple.

Hey everyone...
Although it's become kind of cliche, I'm making my fiance a scrapbook of all the things we've done for the past four years for his birthday. I want to make it super, SUPER special. *ya know, something to take his breath away besides ME for a change! lol*
Okay, the book I got has black pages...what types of things can I use to jazz them up and/or write on them? Any cool background ideas? Something to texturize the pages without bulking them up terribly? Any and all suggestions/ experiences/ alternate sources are totally appreciated!
xoxo

I'm currently slaughtering a pair of old jeans per request of my younger sister. She wishes to have a certain design bleached into the bottom foot or so of the legs.

Now, I did this to a pair of my jeans a year or so ago, but the bleach (though I diluted it) severely weakened the denim. It wasn't a month or so until it began to come apart while washing. Plus, the bleach/water mixture I used bled more than I would have liked.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to prevent either of these things?
Wish I had a photo. Sorry.

Inignot: You and your third dimension.
Frylock: What about it?
Inignot: Oh, nothing, it's cute. We have five.
Pause
Err: Thousand.
Inignot: Yes, five thousand.
Err: Don't question it."

Decided to make a surpise gift for my brother. He's a big Aqua Teens fan, so I thought it would be cool to make the mooninites. So meet Inignot and Er.

We are Mooninites from the inner core of the moon.

No one can defeat the Quad Laser!

edit: Thank you to everyone who commented! I'm really glad everyone likes them. I haven't done too many doll projects lately, so I wasn't sure how they would turn out. My brother liked them, too, though! ^^ Also, I'm going to try to send some pics in to Adult Swim. Thanks for the tip! Maybe they'll be famous! Anywho, I just wanted to say thanx! You guys rock. *hugs*

I made this mirror a few years back and only recently got around to taking a photo of it. It's so hideous that I kind of love it.

I'm planning to redo my bedroom somehow by myself on my own money. I can't paint it or put too many holes in the walls. I don't have the money to buy new furniture, so I'll probably end up slip covering some stuff.

Ultimately, I want as a theme: Old world England and/or France tied in with very modern, contemporary elements

The two parts of the theme are very different, so you can probably guess that I'm having a hard time trying to come up with some ideas.

Just feed me some ideas on what I could do...fabrics, colours, anything. You can be as general as the overall colour scheme or as specific as a certain item that would go well in the room or some sort of project.

Merce in advance. I adopted merci and turned it into merce.

Oh, also, does anyone know any good communities for interior design related stuff?
