I am knitting really boring stuff right now (a tank top that will not end) so I crocheted up a lion for my friend's baby's 2nd bday.

RAWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRR!!!!

psychodelic lions rock!

I didn't have a pattern, just an idea, and I made it up as I went along. The head and body are one peice...legs and tail are sewed on.

another thing, and hopefully this doesn't seem inappropriate (if it does, feel free to delete or redirect), but i figure i might as well ask--

while cleaning the mess of my room i've found, besides money and a long overdue library book, several yards of burlap. you know, the brown kind commonly used for potato sacks and possibly other things. well, i had it from a basic sculpture class but barely used it, and it's just currently taking up itchy scratchy space.

what i was wondering was, if there was anything anyone could suggest i could do with it, or barring that, if anyone could possibly have a use for quite a bit of burlap (and if so, i wouldn't mind shipping it out to that person). i paid very little on it so i'm not trying to make a profit, i just want to get it out of the way somehow, and i'd rather not just throw it out. so if anyone needs some, i'm your girl. :)

Earlier today I looked at the craftiness in my craft doors and thought, what shall I do?

This is what I came up with. )

I own a red 92 sunbird 2 door car. It's an oldy, and I want to make it into an art car. Has anyone done this before? What is the best way to make murals on a car. I'm assuming I'll have to buy car paint. But in what forms does it come in? Roll on, or spray paint?

I'm also doing the interior all in leopard print. I'm tempted to do the outside in leopard print too. (leopard print painting) I might just make other murals on it though. Haven't quite decided yet. I'm tempted to get the outside done in white, then use the whole car as a canvas. Make it into my own personality mobile.

Any suggestions?

i found some beloved modge podge at home and i am experimenting with it. i'de like to know if there are different TYPES of modge podge. Mine says "Matte" on the front of the bottle, so i was wondering if there is a glossier version that would say "Gloss" on the front (or something similar). Does this make ANY sense? if so,i'de appreciate the help.

i want to make a microwave heating bag thing. i'm making it with salt because i'm broke &can't buy anything else to put in it. i read the memories but i couldn't find an answer to this.. would it be ok if i put the salt in a plastic bag, and then put that in the fabric (instead of putting the salt right in to it)? i don't want to worry about it getting wet and putting the salt in a bag is all i can think of..

thanks <3

Here's the latest little creations I have rolled out. For some reason DA is being wonky, and thus the direct linking to the deviations might not work. If that's the case, feel free to visit my DA user page and check my gallery from there:

I promised goodies for [livejournal.com profile] the_ash and [livejournal.com profile] isfacat for DA hit number 666 on my page. Somehow or another they both managed to get it. I blame DA being wonky and the number 666 for the results. Because only strange things of that nature can happen when 666 is involved.

So, I wake up from my little *nap* tonight to find out that my boyfriend has sent me a link to a website his exgirlfriend in involved with. My first thought is, "Why do I want to click this weird adoption link? I'm not having kids to give them away to anybody." (Remember, I JUST woke up.) But this exgirlfriend is Liz, the only one that I think I'd like if I did get the chance to meet her, so I click it. After looking through it, it seems to be interesting. Crafters unite to create gifts of warmth for children living in orphanages around the world. A very warm and touching premise, if you ask me.

Hi Everyone!

Since I have so much clutter in my room, and I do not have drawers on my desk (just little cubby type things) I decided to make little curtains to cover it!

I pretty much just used some scrap fabric and
ADHESIVE HEMMING TAPE!!!! as opposed to sewing
Which leads me to a question
Does anyone have a EURO PRO sewing machine..and if so... would you care to help me out a bit with the settings? Mine are allll messed up

Anyway, I really liked the finish product and if anyone else is in a similar situation, it's a really cute alternative.

Is it breaking copyright to make something (ie: crochet a stuffed animal) from a pattern and sell the actual item? If the pattern is modified slightly, or the name of the item changed, does that break copyright?

I'm just wondering since I sell my own crochet stuff on my site, but I have a couple of items that I've made from patterns & have no use for and would like to sell online, perhaps so someone else can use them instead.

I figure as long as I don't claim that the pattern of the item or the design of it is my own and give credit to the author, then I should be ok.. yes? no?

Thanks for answering. :)

Hello there,crafty gals and guys!

I'm sorry this is text-only post, but I can't include anything else with my question. And the question is-
*short intro story* On 24th,in a small town here on Adriatic coast, as ending of Ars et Musica Antiqua Festival, there's going to be a Baroque fiesta.I would like to do some stuff to make it more Baroque-like.So far, I've come up with small boats that would take passengers from shore to island (where fiesta center will be), floral wines and cloths strung on them as a decoration and some floating candles (if the sea isn't rough, that is).And that's it.Not very creative, huh? That's where you, amazingly crafty people jump in ;) What else could I do to decorate and make everything more Baroque (or Renaissance) like? What exactly to do with candles? How to decorate them etc...Or maybe you have some other ideas (if you've organized something similar). Thanks in advance!

I'm new here... this is an awesome community. You grrls inspire me so.

I've decided to decorate my notebooks for school, I want to make some stencils, but I'm wondering what kind of paint I should use. I have four Mead Brights notebooks that have plastic covers and I don't want the paint to chip off or anything. I'm also wondering if i should spray them with anything when I'm finished painting.
any help would be appreciated! =)

Hey everyone! I joined this community a few days ago when I decided that I wanted to get into crafts. I eventually will open an e-store and sell stuff, but I have to actually MAKE that stuff before I can do it! Right now all I have is soaps.

Anyway, yesterday I purchased my first sewing machine. Sears, Kenmore $159, so far, I love it. And I already made a bag! Which will be my first ever.

Rashes?

Aug. 10th, 2004 03:42 pm
[identity profile] arejze.livejournal.com
I found a rash on my leg the morning after I used Modge Podge glue, and there's no other way I could have gotten the rash. The Modge Podge container says nothing about skin reactions. Are they normal with this glue? I obviously don't pour glue all over myself, but should I just be extra cautious, or could I be allergic? I tested the glue just now on the back of my hand, and it stings something awful. No rash yet though, I wonder if one'll show up.

And even in a well-ventilated area, the smell of Modge Podge makes me nearly faint. I implore anyone using it to have windows open, doors open, etc... just in case.

I know this is an unusual question... sorry if I shouldn't ask. For compensation, I'll post pictures of the scarf I'm knitting when it's finished. :p
[identity profile] butterfield8.livejournal.com
Sorry to post again so soon, but I made another bag this afternoon and I wanted to post it. I think its very adorable but I feel like I could have sewn it more carefully. A few things feel a bit pulled... overall it could have been a bit better but I love the design.

Bronto?

[identity profile] hugamime.livejournal.com
This is gonna sound really kinda stupid, but I'm making a bag, and I wanted to add a brontosarus to it, just a green cut out of one, but I can't draw for my life, does anyone have a picture of one?

I know a lot of people but brontos on purses and shirts and stuff, so if you could even post a link to someone's post with that in it, I would be eternally grateful

With school starting tomorrow for me, I realized now would be a good time to pose a question.

I'm starting a craft club at my school next year. It will meet two times per month, the first week focusing on a community service project (making blankets for newborns, hats for the homeless, decorations for retirement homes, etc.), while the second week will be focused on "show-and-tell" and a craft to take home.

With that in mind, here are my questions.
What's a good name for a craft club at a high school? I'm supposing it needs to be at a level of sophistication, but I can't really think of anything that would fit. And also,
What are some crafts for teenagers that will cost around $5 each? I've looked in the memories, and I came up with the following: melt and pour soap, decoupage frames, seed bead mini-notebook, basic knitting, magnetic poetry, and decoration of Altoid tins or AOL tins. Whether these are plausible for under $5, I'm not sure.

Any suggestions for either question is highly appreciated. I know I can count on all of you craftgrrls&boys.

With that said, do any of you guys know where to buy nice floral bushes online? I'm looking to make a floral arrangement like this:

I don't remember if some of these have made it into my posts before, but in any case, I was recently shopping at the store I work in, and noticed a string of customers going to customer service with disgruntled expressions and merchandise from my department...so I thought it time for another post of random crafty warnings and information (with WalMart in mind).

I'm sure I've seen this somewhere before, but where is beyond me. Anywho, how would one go about removing the lable from a bottle and still keep it in tact? I've thought of submerging it, but that would ruin the thin paper. Also, a razor would make it inclined to be shredded. Thanks in advance!

this is my first post, although i've been lurking/posting comments for a little while.

i've been designing jewelry for awhile, all gemstone stuff, and i was hoping to get some feedback from you guys. you're all massively talented and all i ever hear about my stuff comes from friends and family...and you know you can't trust them for honesty. i'd like to hear the honest opinion of other talented people. i've been toying with the idea of taking my stuff to a gallery or consigment shop but my fragile creative-person ego shrinks at the thought of getting laughed out of the building :)

So anyways my room was bright bright pink and i got sick of it
so i decided to paint it white
and then i didnt like that white color
so i painted it another white

so i had 2 freinds over and we painted it another color white and i got really sick of dropclothes
and i discovered that when i didnt use oil based paint
when i spilled on the floor i could just scrub it off later
i dont know if that will work for you
but it worked for me

i also scrubbed 3 month old acrylic paint off my floor
so i can be messy
and still clean my floor
i am ecstatic

With astonishingly good luck, I recently came across a very old, U.S. Navy uniform. It looks like this.

Anyway, it's made of wool and I decided it'd be a really cool jacket.

So, I cut it open down the center and I'm now wondering . . .

Will unhemmed wool do anything undesireable? Should I hem it?

Thanks!
