I got a old zippo from my guy friend, my girlfriend who smokes loves zippos, and she loves how I "customize" things. here is my dilemma:

the zippos kinda beet up, the inside is fine, but the case or cover is just plan black, with a weird compass painted on it. the paint is chipped and it looks real bad.

so here is my question: how can a decorate it? can i sand of the paint, then repaint it? or maybe mod-poge something on it? if i painted it what would be the best paint?

thanx in advance

I want to make something like the pendants shown here.

Basically, I love pendants. Just random stuff to string onto a ball chain or something- one at a time, and just switch it up. (In fact, ANY ideas for unique or interesting pendants are certainly welcome!) But the idea here is to use a picture (printed, photocopied, even a tiny collage of sorts) and create a pendant out of it.

Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance. :)

EDIT (5:00 est)
Thought of some other questions to tack on here:

Can I stick other things into the resin? Like dried flowers/leaves, dead bugs (don't flinch, I'm a nature geek), beads, or- whatever?

If I were to use molds other than ice cube trays, are there specific things that it won't stick to? Could I spray pam or put olive oil on something to keep the resin from adhering to it?

i have a stack of photos that are stuck together. how do i get them apart without damaging them? if i leave them in the bathroom will the moisture allow them to separate or make them worse? i think the photos just got wet and they fused together....

bah.

EDIT: thanks so much! i'm soaking them right now!

I need some help. I'm making a website and I was wondering if anyone knew what font this is and if so, where I can find it.

here it is )

I made this out of leather like most of the things I make, and I stiched little leather pieces on for the sprinkles. It's cool because it's sparkley leather.
comments are appreciated!

I finally got around to procuring matching thread for some fabric I wove over the summer, and sewed up a poncho. The fabric is still kind of stiff, but that should go away after I wear it a few times.

please excuse the makeuplessness and dirty hair )

Does anyone know how to bend fork prongs to create wind chimes and photo frames? I saw the end of it on DIY scrapbooking today but it's not on their website.

I've been on a mission for the past several months to find your basic black and silver YKK zippers (the ones that are on, like, every Hot Topic product ever made), but to no avail. I've checked JoAnne's, Wal-Mart, you name it, but I can't find them anywhere. Do any of you fine ladies know of a place online where I can order various lengths for a decent price? Thank you bundles.

So i love the natural orchid flowers coated in resin at firemountaingems.com but they're a little pricey. So, i just made one myself.

I didn't really know what the hell I was doing and could find no instructions for making orchids out of sculpey, so I just winged it. I'm not 100% happy with the way it came out but i figure it's a decent first try.

It's made with sculpey III, 1 part white, .5 pearl and a pea sized ball of red. rolled out a sheet, cut up and hand shaped some pieces, drew in some veins, la la la . I secured everything together with liquid sculpey

here's a pre color post bake pic. )

After it was baked and cooled I colored it in with chalks. Added in some more liquid sculpey where it seemed a little weak and baked it again.

When it was completely cool I mixed up some poly resin and coated it then let it dry overnight. It's got a hole in the back so it could be used as a pendant although I'm not going to use it as such until I can refine them a little better.

a pack of birthday cards. )

Fairly standard xyron constructed birthday cards. The top cards have a handmade glitter paper using some cardstock, my xyron and my laminator. It's something i want to experiment more with in the future. All the stickers are premade clay accents. Trimmed out with metallic fibers and paper ribbon.

Enjoy ;)

Does anyone have an idea where I could find some Marilyn Monroe-esque patterns for Halloween? Maybe the dress she wore in The Seven Year Itch?

I have a somewhat large piece of fake fur I bought for a costume, but I didnt use most of it, so I want to make a blanket. Ive used a piece of fur just as is as a blanket before, but this fur is quite long and sheds a lot. How can I finish this off, in an easy quick way?

get yourself a gluestick, cheap IKEA picture frames (3 for $1.99) and vintage sewing patterns from the thrift store (mine were 6 for $0.45) and a coat of varnish (optional & not shown here), and this is what you get:

hello, i have a question, i hope someone could answer.

i had this plastic heart shaped box that i just painted with acrylic paint, and it's a bit sticky. i was wondering if they sold a spray that you could spray to make it nice and smooth, and/or shiney - and if so what it was called, where i could purchase it, etc? thanks for reading!
