I've never made clothing before, so this is all very new to me. I just had a crazy idea about pleats and the flats and sharps on a keyboard (didn't show up very well in the photos), and I couldn't rest until I'd tried it out. I didn't have a pattern to work from, so I ran out of fabric for the pleats at the back. Whoops!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a pattern for creating your own chinese takeout box?

I'm asking because, no matter where I look around here, I can't find a chinese food restaurant that has those cute little fold-out boxes, & my fiance & I both would LOVE to get takeout in them, but since we can't, I'd like to make chinese food some night & package it up all cute like that

If anyone can help me, I'll be greatful ;D

I made this bag for a friend who asked for a simple bag to carry stuff to work in. It was really easy to make. The only thing I plan on changing next time is probably using a button closure instead of velcro on the flap (I hate velcro) and I'll probably add pockets inside.

So what was I to do with an entire day at home with nothing to do?

Bust out my fabric markers and canvas tote bags, of course.

a while ago someone posted (possibly in a comment) how to join 2 pieces of wool together, so there is no knot and the item can be double sided (such as a scarf)
i've been looking for about half an hour and for the life of me can't find it-would be eternally grateful to anyone who can find it for me.
oh there were photos where you could see the 2 wools intertwining.
thanks.

For the sewers:

I HIGHLY suggest you look at the latest Threads magazine (although maybe it was September? I forget which issue my library had).

There's an article in there on how to make a sloper for yourself out of duct tape with very good directions. For those who don't know, a sloper is like a very basic pattern that records the precise measurements of a body, so that other garment patterns can be made from it. These instructions cover a hip sloper, so that you can make skirts. The author runs a business that makes custom riding habits, which often need to be close-fitting. This is her preferred method.

I am so tempted to just buy the whole issue if I can find it!

Hey everyone!

I've been a watcher for so long and this is my first post. Unfortunately I can't post any pictures of my craft because my computer won't load the pictures from my digital camera.

Anyway, I was thinking that you could easily make earrings out of coca cola cans. I mean the ones which are discs with smaller circles cut out of them. I don't know if they are fashionable in the US but they definately are here in the UK. I hope you know what I'm talking about.

i have a question--- but i come bearing gifts to lessen the blow!

first,
someone posted a while ago asking about crocheted cat toys, and said the someone they had known used to crochet little balls and then stuffed them with shopping bags to make them crinkly. would this pattern work? i found it today and thought of you.

also, i finally kinda finished a crochet project - and here are pics-

kinda finished )

but i still have the question! i'm looking for a crochet pattern for a cardigan. not even a cardigan, i just don't know what to call it. definately not like a cardigan for a twin set, but a chunky button up the front sweater, that goes down to mid thigh, and has either a shawl collar or a hood. i have a bought one that's a few years old, and i really want a new one, but they're more than my budget will allow to buy. i've been searching online all day, but all i can find are massively unflattering bag shaped patterns, or granny square sweaters, which i might have to end up using, but all in one colour.

here's are a couple of kinda examples- these were the closest i could find )
i don't mind buying a pattern, as long as i can find it somewhere, but free would be be better.

thanks so much!
