My boyfriend's birthday is next week on the 28th. I have no job which means I have no money so I had no idea what I was going to do - he told me of course not to worry about it but I can't just sit back and not get him anything. Well, of course, last week I got a phone call from an interview I had gone to so I will have a job starting the beginning of next month...and because of that this is what I came up with for his present since I still won't have $$$ to buy him anything by the 28th :P

I need some help here.
Last week I got some of that...monster fur...fake fur...whatever...looks like this: (http://www.gothichaven.com/gothic_clothing/cyber_wear/cyber_thumbnails/cyber-monster-fur-hats-lilac.jpg)
I got it in this hot pink color and this black & white color.
I got it because it was on clearance...
I want to make small bags with it..nothing too crazy.
Perhaps...a few small bags in pink with the black handles and vice versa.
My problem is...I have never worked with this before. What do I need to know about making some simple bags? What do I need to line the bag with? How do I sew with it?
Will it be sturdy enough to hold the bag as a handle?

Also...how do you cut this? It is different then anything I have ever worked with before. Should I hand sew it or machine sew it?

I just want to make your basic rectangle purse...fold that in half and sew a strap to it. Unless one of you has a better suggestion. Heh.

hey all,

in my search for fuzzy flocking powder i came across this link and thought it might be beneficial to some of you. it seems like it might be mostly scrapbooking things, but i think some of their ideas could be inspiring to some of you out there. so i figured i'd pass it on! (hopefully it hasn't already been posted though, i'd feel like an idiot then...)

i'm experimenting with glass ornaments. i have pre-shaped ornaments from Michael's and i etched a few with snowflakes and what not. they were kind of plain, so i wondered what to do to spice them up. i thought maybe coating the inside with glitter would be nice-they'd be all sparkly as they're hanging on a tree (presumably). but of course i'm having an issue with this. i tried using some spray adhesive, but as you could imagine, i could only spray in one direction, so the glitter clumped. i've had some luck watering down some Clear Gel Tacky Glue, mixing in the glitter and then pouring it inside and moving it around. but i'm still getting little bubbles and streaks. i'm not sure what it will look like dry!

has anyone done this successfully and have any tips? am i using the wrong kind of adhesive?

i'll also gladly welcome any tips/suggestions to spicing up my glass ornaments!!

just so this isn't boring text-only, here's a bad picture of another etched glass i recently did )

thanks in advance for your help!!

My best friend and I both collect cow related things.
We each have pretty much everything commercially available related to cows, so we make each other cow related things for birthdays/christmas.

Alrighty! I need some input on my halloween costume!

Since my whole dark angel thing didnt work out, I decided to go the pirate route. And since Scott was dressing as a pirate himself, I thought it would be cute if the two of us matched. =P Anyway, I decided to make a few additions and subtractions from my tavern lady costume and turn it into a Pirate Wench costume. So anyhoo, I am just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how I could make it look a little more pirate-esque?

Here are some pictures of what I have as of now (sorry the pictures are so crappy.

Sorry if this post is a bit off-topic, but I thought i'd be able to get an answer here =] I'm looking to get a paticular fabric but I don't know what it's called. I have a picture HERE ) and the fabric I want is whatever that skirt is made out of. Sorry it's not the best example but it's all I could find. Any help would be appreciated =]

Does anyone know where I could find a (fairly simple) pattern for a stuffed bear (or even any other type of animal)? I'll be making it out of fleece. My aunt purchased a 30" x 31" (approx) piece of fabric and asked if I could make a bear or something out of it for my cousin who is three.

The patterns I've found have been for more complicated versions. Or the "cut out two bear looking shapes and sew them together" patterns

Thanks in advance.

ok, this was a while ago but:

i remember someone buying a mini sewing machine...like the one you can put on the table..not the handle ones. it had different colors like pink, seafoam green and so on.

i also remember that it was cheap at like joann fabrics...

well im planning to buy it as a birthday present for someone.

does anyone have it? if so, is it of good quality?
