I have a question for all you crafty pirates... ARR... the paint on my glasses frames is chipping and I would like to either touch it up, or paint the frames some crazy wild color. I've tried touching it up with permanant marker but it just rubs off. They're metal frames so I don't know if acrylic paint would stick to them or what. Maybe spray paint? But then the problem is how would I go about spray painting or regular painting them with out painting the lenses? Like what could I attatch to the lenses? Tape maybe? I don't have any clue. Here are some pictures ) if that helps. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I am trying to learn to knit. I can cast on but by the 3 time AI cast on it is a jumbled mess and I have to start all over again. What am I doing wrong? I have 2 booklets that teach you knitting basics, are there any sites that have very clear instructions? I have thick acrylic yarn and 11 needles to learn on.

Also can you make a decoupage liquid out of Elmer's glue to use with magazine cutouts and glass? I want to make some candle holders for my sister to take to the cemetery for her birthday.

Help this spazz out!

So you got a new sewing machine and now you want to make an easy dress for yourself?

I strongly suggest choosing something from the New Look pattern book (they're Simplicity's European division but you can get it in the US too).

Why? I find that the designs and the technical aspects of the patterns are better than the other Big Four pattern companies (Simplicity, Vogue, Butterick, McCall's). I'm experienced at sewing and today I was making a simple knit dress for myself from one of their patterns. I was afraid it would look like a hospital gown on me, but it didn't! I was very impressed. In the past, I've made easy dresses from Simplicity and the others, and the end product looked like a hospital gown. I had the skills to add darts and stuff, but a first timer might not want to have to deal with that.

Other items from the Big Four are more or less just fine with a little tweaking, but be wary of their "Two Hour Dress!" patterns.

Can anyone suggest a good easy pattern from one of the other companies?

Pyjamas are also a great thing to start with, probably even before you tackle a dress.

I decided to start an all purpose craft journal for myself and this is it. Hopefully it will inspire me to document all the little bits and pieces I do as well as do much more.

This was my first real adventure into quilling and Im still working out the amount of glue I can get away with. So here goes.

There are more pictures at the new journal, but I didnt want to overwhelm the entry with all the pictures I took *chuckles* Merry Holidays all!

I know you all have seen pants turned into bags, but I thought I would show mine off anyways and ask what I could do to jazz it up..I was thinking of stenciling maybe?

I have a few things left over from my Christmas crafties and I was wondering if anyone has some ideas about what I could do with them.

-- Chickenwire, not too much, 1/4 inch squares. Maybe a yard's worth?
-- Vellum, 2 11x11 sheets.

They dont have to be incorporated into each other. If you have an ideas for only one of them, please post!! Thanks you creative vixens, male and female. ;)

I've wanted to learn how to Crochet/Knit for a long time. Well, I went off to Michael's today and bought myself two little kits "Teaching yourself how to Crochet" and "Teaching yourself to Knit" and it's been an innnnteresting night. I've got how to do a chain stitch - and with some help from a video on the internet, the slip stitch. I'm imagining that my fingers will be sore by the end of the week :) It's going to be fun keeping my cat away from all of this.

Also: What are the rules for bringing crochet needles on airplanes? Can I do it, or am I a terrorist if I do? We have a flight this week, and a 2 hour layover.

I know it's kind of late, but here's an idea for next year. I made these as Christmas cards for my friends. Made of paper with buttons glued on. I attached them to each gift with thin wire used as ribbon.

i made my siblings and [livejournal.com profile] elt03c their gifts this year. my brother and sister both got iPod cases, and i made my friend a semi-circle purse following the tutorial. (thanks [livejournal.com profile] pinkyninky!) the purse isn't QUITE what i was expecting/what it should be, but thats because i stopped following the tutorial halfway when i got cocky. :) considering its only the second thing i've made on a sewing machine in over four months, i won't beat myself up too much over it.

the images are HUGE (..kinda), but it was the best i could do -- i've already resized them onece and if i try to do it again, i'll go over my 24hour file transfer limit. gaaah. there are a ton of pictures of the purse, but only because its my favorite. i really wanted to keep it, and now my sister is bugging me to make her one. :)

drumroll, please )

Isn't it great when friends send you pictures with them using stuff you gave them?
