Does anyone have a good source for pretty cotton voile? I need to make curtains for the boat my bf and I are moving onto (woot!). For some reason neither of the fabric stores in town carry any thin cotton fabric. I would just buy curtains from Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie but I can't justify spending over $40 on something that will probably need to be replaced due to mold a couple times a year.

EDIT: The curtain is for the area between the v-berth and the rest of the cabin and it's really dark and somewhat claustrophobic in there. I want to use voile (or some other thin, somewhat transparent fabric) so that light can get through.

Fima Clay

Hey all. got a question. Just found an old bag of fima clay from when i was about 13 (lol, im 20 now). its been sealed in a ziploc bag, but i dont quiet remember it being this hard. its not dried and crumbling, but seems less pliable then usual (maybe its just me...) but does anyone know of anyway to soften it up? like would it soften in the microwave? and if so for how long? i was about to try this, but it is ment to be baked in an oven, and im afraid the microwave will harden it. any suggestions? thx all!

Ok so I have a question about this new yarn I'm attempting to crochet with, it's called Ribbon Yarn and I was wondering if anyone knew what size needle I should be using? I'm currently using a K, metal needle, and it's hard to catch the yarn-over with this size. Help me out super quick! Thanks!

I don't know if any of you remember (probably not because I never do when posts start out this way) when we were talking about stained glass awhile ago and I told someone that I stained glass'd my bathroom mirror with liquid leading and the paints.

Everyone wanted to see pictures and I promised that I would post some, and now, 2903847320987 months later, here they are!!

one more detailed and also some of my artwork (art counts as crafts, right?) )

LOTS OF PICS!
With repaired html!

but first the post!
You know what I hate?
When magazines you ALREADY subscribe to are FULL of those subscription cards!
So irritating. I was looking at one last night and 5 of those things fell out of 1 magazine!
Yeesh!

So I was thinking

IDEA:

if I save a bunch of them up I could make small a book out of them!
A book of collage and art. With maybe 10 or 15 pages?

but for now I'd like to post some pictures of some collage and "artist trading cards" (ATC's) I have been working on. I have been sick for a couple of days but I have been making good use of my time!

Hey,

I checked memories, but I couldn't find what to add to soap for 'milk' as in a "milk & honey' bar...I was thinking maybe the powdered milk but I don't know!

I have been making tiny bags in the shapes of different animals.

butterfly )

They are made from little scraps of fabric I had left over from other projects. I liked making them because I got to use some tiny scraps of fabrics that I loved.

bird )

I'm not sure what I'll put inside - maybe a little charm or a coin or something.

cicada )

I think they'd be nice affixed to the top of a wrapped gift.

I think it looks like something from the ocean's depths. It's the first time I tried plying and is my third ever skein of homespun yarn. It's made with fiber I dyed myself and plyed with bright pink thread. What do you think?

I'm really getting into this whole card-making thing.

One day a few years back, I got really bored and decided to make something interesting...

Tampon mouses!!

You start with a tampon, take it out of the applicator. You loosen it up by holding it on both sides and twisting it for a bit. Then you pull the edges apart and fluff them up. You can draw/paint a cute little face on them if you want and...

Tadaaa!! )

I cant get the purl down so i just decided to knit this thing. Its the first thing ive ever made thats not a scarf. Im starting a new one right now in better colors (im not a fan of the ones that i picked out for the one in the picture) Tell me what you think!

I wanted to make a friend of mine an ipod cozy out of some awesome fleece I got on sale awhile ago but I don't exactly have an ipod at my disposal for measurements and the like. Does anyone have a tutorial or measurements of an ipod?

I was going to knit up the Roller Girl Legwarmers in SnB Nation, but I want something I can wear this weekend already, and it would take me forever to do these.

Then, I remembered that knitty had a legwarmer pattern! So, I started on the Postmodern legwarmers pattern, with Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick&Quick in Wheat.. since I had some left over from Christmas gifts. :) I didn't follow the pattern exactly, but closely enough, and I was able to make one. I still have to make the other (I'm out of yarn), and make the i-cords for these.

Ta-daaaaa.

I've got photos to post of the Valentines gifts I made my boyfriend, too; but I don't want to post those yet in case he sees them. :)

I was playing around with some plastic military/weaponry miniatures and realized, hey, these hand grenades and knives are the size of cute little earrings. So cute little earrings they became.

Why is (almost!) everything cuter in miniature? ;)

I just found this page and I thought perhaps someone here is interested; it's a lot of nice jewelry made from computer scrap:

(the text is in German, but when you scroll down the list and click you can see photos of different projects)

Sorry if this is in the memories, but I did look through them.

I would like to know how to make a skirt that would be somewhat like a tutu, but longer, not totally see-thru, and with an assymetrical hem. What do I make it out of, as well? Would I need to put elastic in the waistband? I haven't sewed in a while, so I can't think too well on constructing one.

Thanks to anyone who replies, I really appreciate it.

Still working on ATC's and I made a couple of mini journals too.

Font help

Feb. 8th, 2005 11:24 pm
[identity profile] boogirl1984.livejournal.com
I am trying to stencil a shirt and I really really want the font that is used in the "I <3 NY" shirts. I tried plain old Times New Roman but it's not rounded enough, in my opinion. I am currently going through pages and pages of fonts on different web sites but am thus far not having any luck. I thought I'd see if anyone knew the font and where I could find it so I can go ahead and start stenciling. Thanks in advance for your help!
