so, this is awesome. these folks sell a kit for making a jello mold out of your face. i'm cheap and was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for making this on your own, as in what substance to use for the making of the mold?

Hi, I'm relatively new here, mostly I've just been admiring what everyone else has been making.

anyways, I come to you with a question. I want to make this hat but no matter how hard I try I've never been able to properly crochet. I know that you can convert patterns from crochet to knitting, but I'm not sure if you can when it has a design like this pattern.

I tried to check the memories but that part of lj is down right now I guess. If anyone knows anything about it or has done this I'd love to know. Thanks!!

For some reason I was thinking about a ceramic piece that I made during my junior year of high school (2000-2001). It won a Scholastic Art Award, and I was wondering if they still had a link to it on their site. They did! I am still quite proud of it, here is a picture:

Not the greatest picture in the world but I got it from the Scholastic Art Awards page and it's the only one I have (I'm away at college, it's four hours away at my house). You can't tell scale at all in the picture, but the pot is actually about a foot tall. I made the actual pot and then I made a lot of snakes and put them all over it. Then I glazed the whole thing with about four different colors. The lid is my favorite part, but unfortunately it got broken along with a few of the snakes when they shipped it back to me after the award ceremony in Washington DC.

I really wanted to do something with it after I first made it, but right now it's sitting at my house collecting dust. I thought about putting a plant in it, but I really want to use the lid in some way if possible. Any ideas?

Please let her know you saw the post on craftgrrl so she doesn't freak out wondering why all these strange people are helping her.

Hi all,

I'm hoping to get my jewelry line up onto ebay by next weekend and am looking for attractive yet easy/inexpensive ways to package necklaces. Since it's not necessarily my main product focus I don't want to spend that much money on it, YET...until I have to.

Any ideas appreciated, thank you.

some friends just had a baby, so my hub made me make the new little guy some onesies.  i just picked up some onesies at kmart & velvet iron-on letters at hobby lobby & wa-la.  so simple.  i'm sure everybody's doing it cuz walmart was sold out of the red iron-on letters.  hmmm...

Anyone have any tips on getting something to rust quickly?

I seem to recall that one could soak a metal object in salt water for a few days and that would do the trick, but maybe there is a product or some clues to speeden it up. Got any idears - all up in your heads?

Please no tips on achieving a faux rust look - I want the real "2 legit to quit" oxidized deal!!!!!

Thanks in advance!

sorry

I know it's here somewhere, but my computer's being stupid and won't let me search for what I want.

Someone not long ago posted a tutorial about how to round the corners on photos. Me being arrogant, said I don't need that, I already know how to do it.

And of course, now I need to do so, and I can't figure it out for the life of me. And I can't find the post. If anyone can direct me to it, that would be awesome.

Sorry for cloggin the space with this.

i think this will win for the lamest question ever: how do you sew by hand? yea i know you put the needle in the cloth and pull the thread through, but how do you get a solid line instead of a dotted line? is the only way to sew over the thing twice? because my aim isnt that great, and my line looks all gross and jagged. *feels incredibly stupid* :[

I made myself a knitting bag yesterday, out of navy blue fabric and brightly striped red-blue-and-yellow lining. Stitched a sheep on the front pocket. Was rather proud of it, but it's just 1.0 in the 'Quest for the Perfect Knitting Purse'.

Today, someone-Random Stranger In Store-came up and asked my where I bought it. *pride* Best. Feeling. Ever. Anyone else have that happen?

I painted this (watercolor) for my boyfriend.
It's basicly a picture of us that I'll try to frame by the end of the week.
Nothing to hard, but it's thoughtful and he loved that picture.

Alright, after going to the craft store and seeing how much the soap base was(and being broke)...I decided to look online. I looked at the warehouse site, but the shipping was way, way too high. So *struck by lightning* I tried ebay...and eventually won this:
Goat Milk soap base - 4 lbs
Castile soap base - 3 lbs
Aloe soap base - 1 lb
Extra Lather soap base - 2 lbs
Now...I know how I can use the Goat Milk and Aloe soap, but is it ok to make "regular" soap out of the Castile and Extra Lather...or are they specially formulated for certain things? I'm sorry, memories isn't working, and this is my first try at soap...Even just this M&P seems complicated!

Thanks!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I am making soaps to put in baskets for my fiance's pregnant sister, and sister-in-law. The baskets will contain (when finished) baby quilts I'm going to make, onsies I plan on decorating(along with other cute baby things), handmade teddies, and stuff for the mothers to relax with: soaps, bath bombs, lotions, warming/cooling pillows etc. I will post tons of pics when I finish with this massive project!

My fiance went and got me a subscription to the paper since he knows I like to read it, and now I'm drowning in old newspapers. We still haven't gotten a bluebox for recycling [will get it soon], and I'm a huge packrat/recycling junkie and hate throwing things out.

I'm getting in to paper making, and while I don't believe I can make good paper out of old newspapers, I was thinking about papier mache. [Of course, if you CAN make good paper out of old newspapers, I'd love to hear how and get some tips!] Not the strip kind, but rather the kind that's more like a paper-goo-clay that you use to sculpt on things. Anyone have any experience with this?

Pardon the bad pics; done on my camera phone. I editted it as much as I could in PS, but...

I used [livejournal.com profile] musicisuseless's tutorial for a no-sew skirt, but I used a turtleneck instead of a tshirt; I prefer longer skirts. Plus I like the additional option of my waistband.

Yesterday maybe i posted a coolie jounal thing. Yeah.. very pastel-y with button closure. Today I filled 7 pages! Hurrah! My digicam is recharging after a hard day's work, so i used my scanner to get these pics. This means that every time i covered a picture/part of a picture with modge podge to make it look cool.. it kinda got a glare or looks really dark (woodsy one). Eh.. you can see for yourself.
Clickity woo woo! Seven pictures of pure squee. Och, aye! )
