so ladies,
I have a trailer for "The Life Aquatic". My brother manages a movie theater so I decided I wanted one of the old trailers and I happened upon this beauty. It's literally the spool of film on a tiny plastic roll. So, What do I do with this treasure? I don't want it to sit around and Im pretty sure CONSTANT light on them ruins them over time. Ideas please?!

Thanks in advance!

basically i need to print about 5 meters of text onto an equally long piece of 2-3" wide ribbon, or sticky paper, for an installation i am working on.

any ideas?

i had another day off, which of course means that i made jewelry. yay!
also, i've discovered the source of a ton and a half of free postage. ok, more like a hefty stack of paid-postage gallery cards. i personally adore snail mail and would like to share the love if any of you are interested. just email me with your snail mail address and i'll send you a random personalized postcard. girlypirate@earthlink.net

I'm working on a recipe card box and a Gwen Stefani scrapbook type thing. Spring break has left a lot of time on my hands.

I don't think I posted this here before aside from the vinyl bags I have fun making crochet stuff.

This is my little Flash wearing a crochet hat for puppies, I didn't use a pattern for it but it's easy enough to make if you know a little about crocheting.

okay I've been googling for the past two days and I cant find them...

I remember seeing someone post a link to super cute ring that had a loop at the top to put charms... I've tried searching for charm ring, but I just get sites that sell those little wine glass charms or a gazillion sites that sell jump rings or ear rings or rings that are already made. I found the rings with one loop here.

I'm still trying to find plain adjustable rings in either sterling silver (prefered), silver colored or plated, or gold colored or plated.. I cant find any... anywhere.. The only thing I have found are the rings on Fire Mountain Gems to mount stones into..  I also found these... but I was wondering if anyone's seen any that are plain (those have little hearts on the sides) and dont have a huge circle to glue a gem onto it.  Any help is much appreciated!! :)

I am looking for 9 X 12 pieces of long pink craft fur for hats I am working on. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find this? It is easy enough to find white, brown, black and tiger/leopard pieces, but I can never find any other colors. I have a rabid search on eBay, but I have only obtained a limited number there.

Greetings all you in livejournal land!

For christmas I made a bunch of crocheted grannie square afghans as gifts. As a result, and the fact that I like to piddle around with crocheting, I have a lot of acrylic yarn( I hadn't yet gotten into crocheting with handspun or the like...)

Anyhoo, while I was watching tv last night, I whipped this up...

this is a bag i made from a vintage dish towel i picked up at an antique shop. it measures about 12 X 8, not as big as i would have liked, mostly because i made the strap out of the same towel. i have another one of the same print and i think i might make a larger bag out of that one. this is lined with a sweet little white and yellow floral. and took me about a half hour to cut up and sew. haha, i probably should have spent more time so the seams were even and not have been so lazy and changed the bobbin thread color for the lining! whoo blue thread!

the front is hand-beaded with orange and green beads, which i had never done before. now i know why. . .heh. sorry if the pics are a little wonky. it's hard to take pics of bags! sigh. . .

baggy goodness! )

thanks!

how do you rip your jeans? I have used a razor and just about everything i could think of and it turned out really wierd. I want to attempt to do it again (like at the knee) and I want to make sure I don't ruin another pair of pants...

i based these off of amigurumi photographs, but i free-formed them with no pattern. crocheted with an h-hook, 100% acrylic yarn, and stuffed with polyester fiber-fill. given to my boyfriend as gifts around his birthday? or christmas time? i forgot which.

EDIT! i forgot! i typed out patterns as i made them. hopefully they are easy to follow! :) i used an h-hook for everything, regular worsted weight acrylic yarn (like red heart or caron sayelle), and polyester fiber-fill to stuff them.

Everyone here is so nice and inspiring, I'm embarrassed to show my "crafts" because they look like a 5 year old made them (I'm 24). Anyway, I bought this knitting kit at the store that comes with yarn, the needles and a book that is supposed to teach you how to knit, but maybe I'm just slow or something because I can't figure it out. I figured one of you here might provide me with a link or maybe suggest something that will teach me how to knit/crochet. If you could I would really appreciate it because I REALLY want to learn!

ok, thanks!

because i know you guys love math..

we have an extra credit project (not one of those silly ones that yield two points) were talking 25 points, which is some pretty big money. we have to display three different graphs of either all sin or all cos. those are the long graphs that go all squiggly, youd know if youve taken trig.

of course, to get the most points i have to make my project prettier than the rest of the class, but im totally stumped. i want to do something that says "i am smart and creative"

:]

oh, and if it makes any difference, i have access to a laser machine, which means stencils and obnoxious little bits wont take forever

hooray architect parents!

Does anyone know websites with nice handspun yarn?

This is a strange question, but recently I've become obsessed with Anano (if your not familiar here's a link http://www.anano.net/bear.html )
and I've spent a zillion dollars on Japanese craft books on ebay...
so heres my strange question!

I have a bunch of plain tupperware that I keep scraps of fabric, beads, paper pieces & whatnot in, I'd like to decorate them & I've seen it done in Anano art & japanese books, I'm thinking I can paint on them with acrylic, but I'm not sure how to seal them so the paint doesn't scratch off, maybe gel medium? Any ideas? I know I wont run them through the dishwasher, but I'd really just like to spruce them up a bit.

Has anyone else bought some Japanese craft books? I was thinking it might be kinda neat to trade scans of the books, the more fun stuff the better...any ideas/anyone interested?

:D

I'd like to thank everyone who helped me with double point knitting. I ended up just fumbling along and accidentally understanding it. So is life. Here's the result. I used the same yarn as my rainbow dropstitched choker.

I'm sure I'll make another one for my now naked right wrist.

I just saw the greatest idea on crafters coast to coast. (I love DRV btw)... this woman makes these nifty backpacks and she used shrinky dinks printed with her info on them for labels.

Now I just need to find a place that sells that plastic that can go through your printer and I'll be happy as a clam in tomato juice.

hmmm ... I hope this is an ok question to ask here. I have a huge collection of vintage craft books and magazines and I'd like to put some of the projects online. I already know how to check if something is still protected under copyright, and most of my stuff is. So this is actually kind of a two part question.

1. Does anybody know how to contact a company about copyrights?? Like Better Home and Gardens .. who in the company would I contact about using thier patterns? And what about companies that no longer exist, who do I contact then?

2. Is it even worth it? I won't be making a profit from this site, and I doubt that the copyright holders will be making a profit off of these patterns ever again, but do you think they'll give me permission to put this stuff online?

Thanks for any help/advice you can offer. And if this post isn't crafty enough, feel free to remove it.
