Okay, picture post coming later this evening (or morning, as the case may be...), but for right now I have a question. I'm currently attempting to reverse-stencil a polo shirt with bleach. I cut stars out of sticky-back fun foam, put them where I wanted them, put paper inside the shirt, and sprayed with bleach. Nothing is happening.

Does bleach just not work on some things? Or did my mom just secretly replace her bleach with colorsafe bleach but use the regular bleach container? It's been about 5-6 minutes and nothing has happened.

Thanks!

The other night I was working on a case for an iPod mini, but I don't have one so I borrowed my friend's. Then as a thank you, I made her a makeshift case out of one of my first attempts that wasn't quite right. I laced it up the back so it's kind of like an iPod corset.

Then tonight I made this )
into these )

Also, in regards to my bleach post an hour or so ago, I just went to rinse it out so the bleach wouldn't damage the shirt, and it did work a little bit. But not well enough to see the stars very well, and it looks sort of crappy. I'm going to try to save it tomorrow by putting the stars back on and spattering white paint. Hopefully I can save it, because I was so excited to find a pink polo shirt...

Go figure.

I've been crafting and creating like crazy recently, taking on commissions and other craftwork in hopes of raising enough money to save my college scholarship. While taking a break in betweeen commissions and filling out college paperwork, I figured I'd take the time to share some of my recent creations.

Arting beyond this point... )

Just got a new Ramones T and want to cut the collar out but it has that funky thick seam inside the neck line that makes the hole too big and misshapen. Anybody have any expierence with this problem? And,yes, I looked through EVERYTHING and found nothing that even remotely refers to this problem.
Thanks!

Sorry I don't have any pix to show how I did it but I think I can explain it pretty well.

1) Turn shirt inside out to see if you have a "line" of fabric that runs from shoulder to around the back of the collar and over to the other shoulder.

2) Very carefully use a ripper to take this fabric line off from shoulder to shoulder. This fabric line is sewn on both sides so you will have to rip each side.
Note: be careful not to rip into main seam as the shirt will fall apart from shoulder to shoulder.

3) Cut ends of fabric from each shoulder and, voila! You now have a perfect binding to run around the raw collar if you like!

4) Then carefully start ripping the collar seam off. If you're lucky you may find the "magic thread" that takes the whole collar off for you!

5) You may have to reinforce the shoulder seams near the collar area so they don't unravel and if you like cut the sleeves and hem(save this stuff and the collar for other projects)but that's it! A perfect 80's cut t-shirt!

We waste an insane amount of grocery bags each month. We do recycle them, but I still feel guilty. So I'm making my own grocery tote bags to bring with me from now on. This is my first one:

I fell in love with the fabric, so I sewed a simple bag. People ask me where it's from all the time. Apparently, dinos are pretty popular.

I'm going to buy a sewing machine, and I have the Husqvarna's Scandinavia 100 in mind. Does anyone of you have it, and do you recommend it? I used to sew on a 20-30 years old bernina machine, but this one is more advanced. http://www.sew.husqvarna.se/scandinavia/scand_100.htm What do you guys think? I can buy new foots and get it quite advanced, but I'm hesitating a bit because it's rather expensive (3995 norwegian crowns, approx. 620 usd. It's on sale, though). I'd really appreciate any inputs :)

Frog wristlet )

I made this little wristlet today. The only thing was that the zipper was hard to sew on since I made it a 3-d bag, and not flat. But I don't use zippers often so props to me for that!

I got the supplies needed to make marble magents today. The 3/4" magnets were too big for the marbles, so I got the 1/2". I'm wondering though that since the marble will be bigger than the magnet, will this make a difference? Should I clue the picture onto the marble first and then add the magnet?

I've never made them before and now they suddenly seem complicated! ;) Please help!

EDIT: I MADE TEN MAGNETS AND IT WAS A BLAST! AS FAR AS I KNOW, THEY LOOK FINE. I'LL KNOW FOR SURE WHEN THEY'RE COMPLETELY DRY. THANKS FOR THE HELP!

Today I finished a project which I started ages ago. It was inspired by bondage pants. Pictures behind the cut. )

And this one is an old(-ish) project. I made it in the beginning of June. Poodle skirt! )

I'm looking for fabric to buy to recover a futon mat using the memory here...how much would I need? It's a fullsize. I guess I should just get out my tape measure and figure it out, but if anyone had any offhands or any past experience to relay...I'd be grateful!

Would I be allowed to post a link to a place where I've found some cute fabric? It looks like people here would like it, in fact, I think I might have seen a purse of one here. I don't have any financial obligation or anything to this place, they just have cute fabric. I guess my question is, if we're not trying to sell it, can we post links to craft-related sites?

I'm pretty much done with Fleuri. If I run into some extra cash I'll put a lining in it or try the thread idea you guys came up with.

Oh, and my domain has been down off and on today so if you can't see the picture I apologize. It's there, I swear!

So I've been making "cards".

That is, I've been folding cardstock in half and using Elmer's glue to attach construction paper, ribbon, and scrapbook paper.

Now that it's dry, it's awfully wrinkly. Would ironing it help? Or have I gone about this card making thing the wrong way? If so, can someone school me in the ways of Card Making? Please help. Thanks.

Ok, so I just finished embroidering something. Am I supposed to completely remove the stabilizer, or leave a 1 cm border around the edge of the embroidery or what?
I've never done this before, so I am 100% lost.

Edit: Here's a picture so it's not text only:
