There was an awesome ska show at the Eagles Club in Milwaukee last night. The main act was Flogging Molly, but the entire place was filled with a zillion other opening bands, including the band of my friend Josie's boyfriend, who sucks, but that's not the point. The point is, we went rep'r'sentin'. )

I am looking for a source of velvet pansies either on-line or in the Seattle area. Other velvet flowers would be good too. Any colour

Well here is some of what I have been doing lately.
I made my first stenciled creation, it is for the SOTM thing and is due on the 15th. I still have to put straps on it because I fucked up the straps when I washed it and dyed it. Oh did I mention it's a tote bag ;)

I was recently playing around with saltdough and made a little dragon-candel-holder.
The green thing in the middle of the dragons tail is a candel of course.

What do you think?

HI. I was wondering if there was a way to resize knitted/crocheted clothes without managing to unravel the whole article.

Do you girls know where I can get some wood custom cut? Specifically, I saw on HGTV they made an upholstered headboard for a bed, and I am interested in doing that, but don't have the tools. Do hardware stores do that? What about more complicated designs, like animal shapes? If I have to buy my own tools, what do I get? I am basically clueless! I am talking about using pretty thin wood, maybe 1/2 in?

Im sewing mach. shopping, and I was looking at a kenmore one. It says ideal for quilting. It'll still be fine for regular sewing though right? Cuz I deserately need a sewing mach. My other one broke and living without one is driving me insane!

Okay, today I was down at the shore & besides getting tons of sand in my bathing suit & in my hair (which i still cant get out, rotf) i managed to collect some shells. So i wanted to know, what can I do with shells? Normally, my family just lets them sit in the garage and then my mom throws them out, because they take up space. But I want something creative to do with them. Any ideas?

Hey there,
I watch craftgrrl all the time but have yet to post anything I've done because I don't have a decent camera. The time will come....be prepared (whatever :) Anywhoo, I need to know if I am dumb in not knowing if I can cut a long zipper (16") down to size (4") to use in a small pouch, or do you have to buy a special itty bitty zipper? Thanks a bunch and sorry for no fun stuff.

So I haven't worked with clay since in ages. The last time I played Cranium--and I don't think this counts--I made an Audrey II and then set it upon my opponents game pieces. They were not amused.

Anyway I've got this super cheapo wall mirror from wally world. The $5 full length variety--brown frame, very boring, very cookie cutter, not very me. The kind of mirrors I like, I can't afford.

For those of you who work with clay (or wood, or hell styrofoam, I just figures clay would be most economic) do you think it would be feasable to sculpt a corner motif (I haven't decided on leaves or something more architectural) to turn this mirror into something a little more special? I'm shooting for an oval shape as the end result, but I'm not sure if I'll lose too much mirror space or if a first timer should even approach something like this.

Just an idea I've been toying with as I pack for my move. Advice/nudges in a good direction are appreciate.

Edit: Etching would be fun, but for this project it's actually the frame I'm looking to cover/revamp.

Hi!

I posted earlier, searching for hairpins - the silver, open-ended, non-bobby pin type. Found them!

The brand is Sta-Rite, and the large 3" sizes are available at Sally Beauty Supply.

Here is a link to where the smaller 2" size can be purchased online, even by the pound:

http://www.gotbeauty.com/shop/item.ihtml?idx=242

Sta-Rite also has a bunch of other pin types, such as the "hair forks", etc.

Happily I was sewing, trying to follow some pattern for a cami-looking top...I sewed the entire hem of both sides of the bodice, and got ready to put the two together.

Then I got all confused, because I thought I had sewn the wrong hems.

After careful consideration, I discovered the problem was not *techincally* in my hems. I had, instead, sewn two of the exact same piece. Grrrrr.

Tomorrow I shall begin a second second piece. I will, of course, check twenty-five times before I start hemming.

A friend of mine had a "White Trash"-themed birthday party this past weekend, and I made him a gift basket, plus a little something to wear for myself...

damn them Duke boys! )

ETA the last two shots that I forgot - A pic of the birthday boy loving his new tank top and the dress (and my big bazooms) in action.
