Hey guys, I have a quick question here.

So I have these 4 bottle caps, and a guitar pick. They all mean a whole lot to me, and I want to make them into a necklace. I want them to look like this: the guitar pick in the middle, with 2 bottle caps on each sides.

I understand that using a split ring and glue it to the inside part of the bottle cap would work, but the thing is, I want the inside part of the bottle cap to be showing, instead of the front part. Because the inside part have quotes and I find them to be pretty neat.

So how can I make them into a necklace? Without destroying the quotes from the caps, and the bottle caps themselves?

Also, how shall I go about with punching the hole in the guitar pick? It's made of plastic (obviously!), and I'm scared that I might split it in half when I punch the hole?

Thanks for all you guys' help!

I have a vision.. However I have no idea how to go about it. For a local bars 1 year birthday, I thought I'd decoate a bowling pin.

I have two of them, incase I muck up the first one.

So its a normal bowling alley bowling pin. It appears to be covered in plastic?

I need to paint it a shiny black, any ideas? Also, does anyone know where to find flames stencils?

Thank you crafty lovlies!

Hello! I've a couple of questions. First of all, I'd like to bind a book as a possible birthday present for a friend who's having her party in a week. I think I've found all the intructions I could want, but where do I go to get good archival quality paper??? I looked at Michael's but they only seem to have cardstock and that's too thick isn't it? I can't shop online :(

Also, if you have any other birthday gift suggestions, I'd really appreciate them! I've looked in the memories but there's nothing that really caught my eye. I've even searched crafter.org. My friend is more of a tomboy, but not totally so. Thank you! :)

So thanks for all the button ideas. I'm not too good with string, so although i would have loved a button necklace, I am just not that crafty. Well, I decided since I'm moving into the dorms soon, I could decorate something that I need to buy anyway. So here it is... Read more... )

I'm proud of this. This is the best thing I have ever sewn in my life, honestly. The craftsmanship and quality is better than any I've ever done, the fabrics aren't chinsy and cheap so it looks a lot richer, the colors go together really well, and I finished it all in one day. I am soooo proud of myself. :)

Comments? Please?

I just finished a change purse featuring a flying piggy.

Pictures! )

I was thinking about writing on it, "you can FLY!!", but I wasn't so sure if it would be too much or not. What do you think?

I was working on a few other plastic canvas things and my best friend gave me the patterns that inspired these coasters. The pattern in a pixeled print out on a grid of the cows from a video game called, Harvest Moon.

i'm re-making this dress for homecoming. scarlette johansson wore it the grammys and i absolutely love it. it's going to be light pink with a few things switched around. everyone says i look just like her so i think it should look good on me. i plan on just buying a plain corset somewhere for the top part but i cant find any plain ones..just sexy ones. any suggestions like websites online? also, i'd be sewing over it and embellishing it so its not so plain. another question...does anyone have any patterns i could use for the skirt? i have an idea but it would be nice if someone could explain or if someone has anything for it. i'll make sure to post the dress when it's finished! it'll probably end up looking nothing like the dress in the end.

Any one have an easy knitting pattern for a small dog sweater? I want to make a cozy thing for my sphynx kitty ), but I'm not a particularly skilled knitter. The simpler the better.

I've also been fooling around with embroidery and did a couple of the Sublime Stitching patterns ) on bags. They turned out so well I've started working on my own designs, I also have some geeky fan inspired works in progress to be posted soon.

I LOVE this shirt. It turned out EXACTLY how I imagined it.
I HATE how these pictures turned out. They do the shirt NO justice. Stupid camera and bad lighting :(

EDIT: Oh yea, quick bit of the info.
Cheap Wal-Mart t-shirt, fabric paint, and TLC. Hand-painted.

Hi everybody. Quick question...

I'm making a shirt for a friend, and I discovered that I don't have any black paint. (I'm using acrylic.) "Okay," I thought, "I'll just make the lettering in navy blue." Well, it turns out that the paints I have are way too light, they have too much white in the pigment, and even though I added some pink, the combo won't turn purple. I'm so desperate to get this shirt done tonight... I think I might add some of my dark red nail polish to this to make the navy color I want. Bad idea?

I could always wait and just go buy more paint tomorrow. Sigh. But I'm such an impatient crafter. Haha.

I'd appreciate any input you guys have. Sorry for the text only, pictures to follow :)

Yesterday was at my friend's house and I fell in love with the fabric her mom had used to make some throw pillows. And today I was a dog coat made out of this awsome strawberry fabric, but unfortunatley I found out that both of these fabrics were from Walmart, and I'm not exactly what you would call a Walmart supporter. So my question is, are the fabrics sold at Walmart exclusive to Walmart or are they made by an outside company that sells to other fabric stores too? And if so does anybody know what company produces these fabrics? Thanks :)

Ok... I'm ALMOST certain I never posted this here, but if I'm wrong I can delete it. I just found it in my files and wanted to share.

So anyway. Remember those wild n' crazy days of Election '04? Good times. And remember how election day's like a week after Halloween? Well. I combined the thrill of the holiday with my youthful liberal enthusiasm and created this masterpiece... )

hey guys... i browsed memories but didn't find anything about pillows. i have a brother getting married in a week & no present, but i found this awesome shirt that he would love that's too small. no problem, i thought, i can turn it into a pillow! except i don't know how. does anybody have any tips/know-how on how to sew pillows? i get the basic gist - buy some kind of stuffing, sew tshirt fabric around it, but i kind of want it to look halfway decent since it is a wedding present... any help is beyond greatly appreciated!!!

(yeah it's crossposted, sorry)

While looking up the dates of the next Tax-Free Week in New York State, I was surprised to find that besides clothes and shoes, fabric, yarn, thread, buttons and zippers are tax-free then, too.
Just a heads-up for those looking to stock up on sewing supplies...shop August 30th-September 5th!

Ever play the Squirrel Song game? Basically, you think of songs with the word "girl" in the title, then replace that word with "squirrel." And then you laugh at songs like "Fat Bottom Squirrels" and "Squirrel, You'll Be A Woman Soon." Oh, and the entire lyrics to "Girls" (aka "Squirrels") by the Beastie Boys. Seriously, it's a good time.

Two of my best friends from college and I have kind of a squirrel inside joke, so I made us all these shirts.

Hey guys, it's me again :)

So, I made the necklace today! Thanks for all you guys' help. But I've got another problem...I don't know how to wear the necklace! As in, I don't know if I should use string, or what, to make it into an actual necklace. Can anyone suggest something?

Here's a picture of it so far, excuse the math homework in the background!

almost there! )

Thanks for all the help ♥

About the chain, I don't know how well that would work, because I want it to stay in the shape as the shape in the picture. If I get a chain, everything would be squished together and it wouldn't look too nice in my opinion.

Anything else? O.o!?
