I made a few new bags the other night.

Also, I'm going to be making a lot of bags over Thanksgiving break. One of the guys from Fall Out Boy saw the FOB bag I designed over the summer, so I'm going to be making about 40 of them in a couple weeks. I don't think I've made 40 bags in my entire life, and now I'm going to do it in a matter of 5 days. Does anyone have tips for mass-producing without sacrificing quality? Here's how I have it scheduled in my head:
Tuesday night: Buy & wash fabrics
Wednesday: Cut, start screenprinting design on the pieces
Thursday: Finish screenprinting, eat Thanksgivingy vegetarian food
Friday-Sunday: Sew sew sew.
...wish me luck...

With Christmas rapidly approaching, it seems that I have to go over the rules (again).

Here at [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl, we have an upwards of 40 or 50 posts in a day. To help keep the flow of posts down, we have a rule that - and I quote- because of the sheer volume of posts dealing with the generic question of "what do I get for my ...." we are going to ask that you post those to the community [livejournal.com profile] crafty_gifts because that is not the primary focus here, and we can not keep up with it. If you don't know what to get someone, read the faq memories. If you have a specific question from there ask away. Thank you. . What this means is you CAN NOT post "what do I get my boyfriend for Christmas?", "my mom likes cats, what should I make her?", etc etc. You MAY post "my mom is into cats and i want to make her a cat bed, how do I go about this" (AFTER googling and checking the memories for yourself, that is). If you make a post that violates this rule, it will be deleted. Also, ignorance of the rules does not excuse you, just like ignorance of the law does not save you from jail time.

And, since people can't read, I will also remind you that there is NO SELLING. Not only does it break our rules, it is also against the LJ TOS and may result in your journal being removed from LJ. Linking your photo to your selling page will be counted as advertising; watermarks on photos are OK.

Although it isn't against the rules, I have also been seeing alot of "I don't want to share how this is made because I sell these items and don't want competition". If this is your feeling I suggest you do not post your work in our community, because we are here to SHARE and LEARN.

On that note, I've decided that from now until November 30 we will have a little contest! Post your handmade Christmas tree ornaments (bought and altered ornaments OK) and we will vote on who wins. The prize will be tiny at most, but you can declare yourself superduperchristmascraftgrrl of 2005!
Just post your pictures with the topic of "I'm the Christmas craftgrrl!", and we will vote on December 1 who wins!

Hi,
I came across this ad on craigslist, for a craft show in Portland, OR. It's December 10th, and the vendor fees are super cheap. I have never done a craft show before, but would really like to sell at this one! Would any Portlanders be interested in sharing a table with me? I won't have a whole lot of stuff to sell, so it'd be nice to share. I make things like this(sorry it's just a directory of pictures, the only other link i have is where i was selling it), and brooches and embroidered journals/notebooks.

Click for more info about the bazaar, including prices (seriously it's like $20, so rad)

Email me at anja_louise(at)hotmail(dot)com if you would like to talk about getting a table together.

Hello all! I'm needing guidance on how to make those frilly and girly 'floozie' beer koozies. I've seen some for sell on the net and on ebay, but it just seems ridiculous to spend up to 10.00 a koozie on something I know I can make with (probably) cheaper and more personalized. I looked at the memories section, but I didn't see what I was looking for.

Am I making sense or is it just me?

Thanks ladies for any and all help!

ideas...?

I'm trying to get started on some crafts for Christmas gifts this year...

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for making some sort of case or box or bag of some sort for cigarettes? One of my friends is really into smoking all sorts of foreign cigarettes/cloves/cigars/etc and I wanted to make something fancy but small enough to fit in his pocket for him to carry them in.

Thanks in advance :)

Since the holidays are coming soon, I was wondering what you're all making as gifts?

It's been, like, forever...

A few weeks ago somebody posted This Link for a pattern of a totebag crocheted out of plastic shopping bags. I decided I needed to make one, and since we have a gabillion and one shopping bags in our house, I had plenty of resources.

So I printed off the pattern, started it, and then promptly ignored the rest of the pattern.

Oh Digicam, just because I don't use you often doesn't mean you have any right to be blurry. )

And I have absolutely no clue what I'm going to use it for.

Last night, while I was finishing cutting up the bags, the exchange went a little like this...
Roomie: You're doing what with that again?
Me: I'm crocheting these bags into one big bag.
Roommate: Yeah, that's just WEIRD.
Me: I'm RECYCLING!!
Roommate: Call it "crocheting," call it "recycling"...know what I call it? WEIRD.

He's so the uncrafty boy. He doesn't get it at all. But he's funny, so I guess he can live.

Does anyone know where I can find bobby pins with a pad online other than Fire Mountain Gems?

Thanks in advance.

My pearl berry cellphone danglies (straps/chains/charms/whatever you wanna call 'em). :3 *smiles* they make me happyyyyy.

PS. Do you guys think a green berry would look terribly odd? :O

I know this community has a strict "no selling" post, but I've read the rules once, and then I read them twice and then I decided this post can be deleted if it causes a stir.

Anyway. Stuff that relates to selling things online, but does not actually offer anything for sale, which is how I think I squeeze by the rules. That, my friend, is called a 'loophole' )
