I have been a member for ages now, enjoying the fruits of other members labor and finally I have a crafty item of my own to post. For years now I have been longing for my very own swanky bar. Searching the thrift stores, yard sales that I frequent to no avail. When I purchased my home I had the perfect spot for a bar but never found one. So this weekend I decided to fashion my own bar. SO few power tools...well one, a staple gun and 50 dollars worth of supplies and....

Being part of the curvy girl population sometimes has it's challenges. Finding cute clothes to fit being on the top of that list. My solution is to use my modest sewing skills and create things that I love and actually want to wear. No muu-muus for me, thanks.

T-Shirts??

Sorry for the text-only post, but I have a question. Does anybody know where I can find those soft little t-shirts (you know, like the kind they sell at Urban Outfitters but plain)? I don't even know what they are called exactly, so it's hard for me to search online.

So does anyone know what they are called and where I can find them (preferably in bulk) for fairly cheap? American Apparel seems to have them, but they're not exactly cheap and I'm not sure if they are exactly what I'm describing.

I've checked the memories and found lots of places to buy blank tshirts in bulk, but they are just regular tees. I'm looking specifically for those super soft shirts that are supposed to look vintage.

Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!

Hey everyone! I need a bit of help. I am making my boyfriend one of those no-sew blankets for Christmas. I was thinking of a way I could interestingly present all of the reasons why I love him, and was thinking of writing them on the strips or like edges of the blanket...what is a nice way that I can do this? I don't want it to look tacky like I ruined the blanket by scribbling on it...and I'm also worried I won't be able to think of enough things, becuase I am making this blanket HUGE, probably over 7 feet long...any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated :0)

I just made my first earrings! I've made wire necklaces...but now got around to making earrings. Now here's the earrings. They're not bad for a first try. I had had the tools the whole time but never got around to making earrings. :-p

Gonna wear 'em to work today and see what other people think...

Hello, I'd love some advice about which I should make to accompany Christmas presents this year. Something that is pretty much foolproof, I can do within a day, isn't too dangerous and that my 3 year old might enjoy helping with.

Thanks!

here is a very easy tutorial, because some of you requested it.
hahaha. :D here you go:

OH YEAH. and put stuffing inside.

Ok. The post right before this got me thinking. I've been wanting to ask this for a while. Anyway, here goes. Would my unity candle explode if I sprayed it w/ spray mount (just the outsides) and then rolled it in white glitter? That would be too funny/awful ... exploding unity candle in the middle of the ceremony.

One of my really best guy friends' dad died last night.
Is there anything crafty I could do for him?
I brought him roses and cookies tonight.
Any other ideas??

I tried to hold out. I really did. I wanted to learn to knit in the round w/ you know.. the normal needles. BUT I did it. I bought a knifty knitter. It's SO fun. I love it. :)

I've been making hats crazy like. My future mother in law sent me a pic of my future neice in the hat I made her. I thought I'd share... it's just too cute not to. :)

W/ out further ado.

wax!

i just had a totally rad idea when i was in the shower! is it posible to "draw" on a candle?? what medium could be used (only one in my mind is sharpie) ... otherwise, i think black wax might be the solution, but i wanted to see what you fine gentlepersons thought aforehand.

sortakindaalmost on the the same topic, how easy would it be to create one of a kind candle molds? im thinkin create in clay first, then create plaster mold/impression, then pour wax in the mold... i like making things especially complicated for no apparent reason :) unless, this is the simplest way? danka my dears

knifty knitter.

for: my boyfriend, colin.

model: me

i really like making hats with those looms.

edit: with sarah we went to my boyfriend's house, and gave it to him, like at 11 o'clock at night. he looks so goofy with it. i'll ask him to put it on for you guys to see. actually, his mother looked even funnier.

So this is only about my second time posting but was inspired to do so because I too have jumped on the knifty knitter bandwagon. But i decided to skip the obvious hats and scarves and go straight to....

Hey I'm sewing some graphics onto a shirt that i cut out from other shirts and wanted to glue them to another layer of fabric to make them a little more durable before sewing them on. Is there any type of glue that I could use that wouldn't be too stiff and is not washable etc.?

I have two dogs, very sweet pups but they make vile stuff come out of their backsides. That vile stuff needs to be cleaned up so no one steps in it and wrecks their day. I have baggies that I purchase in bulk and I end up wasting and loosing many because I put them in my pocket and wash my clothes or they just get misplaced. Well I came up with a little vinyl pouch that I can attach to my dog's leash so when we are walking I have the baggies right there. Now I know there are things like this out there, but they aren't this cute.

I had been tossing the idea of a patchwork bag in my head for a while - so I decided to give it a go today.

I used kimono juban fabric for this bag largely because I have tons of it incase I made a mistake ;P Also - I have something like 11 different patterns in the same pink/blue/yellow tones so I figured it was good to use in patchwork. I've lined this bag with a soft cotton/poly blend and it closes with a magnetic fastener.

I will be making more of this style - but using fancy kimono fabrics for the next lot.

I realized today that when I am busy sewing - I completely forget to eat or drink...so by the end of the day I feel like I've been ran over by a truck a few times over. Am I the only one who does this when they are crafting - or do others?

I made this iBook cover during the summer when I was saving up for a new laptop. I still don't have an iBook (I think I may be too poor for a new computer), but now I have an awesome sleeve for when I eventually get one . . .

More Pictures Under the Cut )

I crocheted the fuzzy part out of Lion Brand Fun Fur yarn, and it turned out fairly well being that I mainly eyeballed it using the iBook measurements I pulled from the Apple website. The yarn by itself didn't offer the kind of scratch-and-general-dirt protection I had in mind, so for added strength, I bought some cheap Wal-Mart flannel and sewed a bright orange floral lining into it. You can tell the stitching was done by hand, but whatever. My iBook cosy is BITCHIN'. . . in a cutesy muppet sort of way.
