I made my first amigurumi today. I didn't use a pattern.

The other day, I was having headaches, so I didn't feel like moving around too much.  This kept me from moving too much, by keeping me in the same place the whole afternoon (not counting getting a couple drinks).

I feel I've been improving on my jewelry making skills!  :)

Hope you enjoy the pictures...click on the LJ cut below.

Today I want to make my first dress... I wanted to know if anyone would be able to draw a basic pretty dress pattern for me to enlarge, just so i can the right idea on the shape. I can't figure out how the bodices will go together and if I have to seperate closer to the chest or if there is a bigger shape that can hold the pattern in place as the fabric I want to use has lots of pattern on it and I don't want it to look BADD.

I was thinking a nice simple 1950's shape. With a cute sailor collar like...

Ok. I'm guilty of totally falling for little birds everywhere. I've also recently turned my entire wardrobe into pink & brown clothes (makes it easier to dress in the dark, right? :D)

I'm pretty happy with it, especially considering I don't know anything about embroidery at all. I was going to do one on each shoulder, but I A.) got lazy or B.) like it assymetrically. (either way.)

+4 scrapbooking and valentines, hurray! )

...but I have a knitting pattern finding problem. I've just spend the last hour trying to find this one free pattern (that I had saved, but then lost alot of my links due to a computer glitch). I came across a pattern for knit shorts (on circulars, and it had pictures) that I thought would be perfect for me to make sometime to wear to dance class. I've decided I'm ready to attempt it, but now I can't find the pattern anywhere.

Any ideas?

EDIT: It's kinda like this, but not as open. I do recall that you worked from the top down, and you put one leg of stitches on a stitch holder while you worked the other leg.

I just spent an hour unpicking about 2 hours worth of half cross stitch work!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghhh!
So frustrating.

This scarf was inspired by one I saw in Last-Minuted Knitted Gifts. Instead of plunking down $18+ for a pattern book, I just decided to invest my money in The Big Book of Knitting Stitch Patterns and recreate the scarf myself. I'm using US 8 needles with one ball of Noro Kureyon in the colorway #74 and approximately half a skein of Cascade 220 in the color 7816 (a turqouise-ish color).

My friend Katrina's birthday is coming up (...tomorrow) and I just finished making her present. The bag is made from some fabric that my dad's friend gave me. I appliqued hearts and beaded it. The top closes with a bow, inspired by several other bags on here.
The t-shirt is for Invisible Children, an organization helping kidnapped children in Uganda (Check it out!). Earlier this year, my APEuro class was raising money for this group and I stencilled similar shirts to sell (sry no pics). Katrina was pretty disappoined though, because she was too late to buy one so I decided to make another!

I have a question about mod podge. I did read the memories and found some posts that were helpful to me, but nothing that was exactly what I wanted to know.
I recently acquired one of those cheap dressers...you know the ones they sell at K-Mart for $30.
Anyways mine is white and I can't have that.
I have a bunch of scrapbook paper and I wanted to cover the dresser in the papers and then put the mod pdge over it. Has anyone ever done that before? Do you think it would work? Or should I do something else?
I need something that would make a seal over the tops of the paper. I will be putting stuff on top of my dresser and I don't want the papers to get all ripped and messed up.
So is it even a good idea to try that or should I use something else? I have never worked with mod pdge before, but it was the first thing I thought about when I got this idea. It isn't the real thin papers either. They are the ones that are a little thicker.
Painting it is out of the question. I don't think any paint would stick to it unless I sanded it down and I don't want to do that. I just want the best way to cover it.
Any suggestions would be helpful...thanks

So my mom was just diagnosed with cancer and I want to make her something special, other than a blanket. Any ideas? I can't knit, but I can crochet along with sewing and the likes.

[Edit:] I just wanted to thank everyone for their support and for the great ideas, it means a lot. And I'd appreciate it if one of the mods added this post to the memories, since I'm sure there's other people out there going through this same sort of situation.

Does anyone have any tips for adding sawrovski crystals or rhinestones to my jeans? I'd like to add a little something extra and a few rhinestones on the back pocket sounds like a good idea to me. My main concern is them falling off in the wash. What could I use to set and place the stones? Would fabric glue work? Suggestions would be awesome. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

So, this is my very first post...but my lurker spirit felt totally connected to the craftycrafty girlie world the day before yesterday when I was motivated to make a faux fur mini-vest! I saw one I wanted to buy and, instead, got the faux fur and the sewing machine out to create a super-powered vest! For me to make this half-sized vest it took about a half a yard of faux fur (it has fur lining the inside, too!) and I made the pattern up using the dimensions of a fluffy sweater I have. It was surprisingly easy-- but time-consuming.

vest of power! )

I'd also like to take this post to say how much I admire all of you ladies' work and how awesome it is what you all create every day.
