glue?

i know people ask glue questions a lot but thistothat.com isn't helping me.
i want to cover my cell phone in glitter (not rhinestones) and don't know what sort of glue to use.
i want something that is relatively thin, so my phone doesn't become bulky.
i also want some sort of clear coat to cover the glitter afterwards so the phone is still smooth and there is no chance of the glitter falling off.
any suggestions?

here's my phone if that helps at all:

thank you.

I couldn't find this in the memories anywhere, i recently went to Big Lots with my future mother in law (she knew it was a bad idea to take me in there, the boy warned her, lol), and i found these paper lanterns for a dollar each, so i grabbed two of them (might go back for the rest later, lol), now, When i grabbed them I thought that they were for candles, WRONG! They're designed to go on the end of a hanging lamp.... i think that's what it's called..... it's a long cord with a light bulb on the end??? Anyone know what I'm talking about? If so, does anyone know where I could find some of these? I'm wanting to redecorate my living room with these included, seeing that We didn't get the friggin house we wanted ::pouts:: and we have to stay here longer.

Hi, all,

I checked the memories as well as doing numerous searches on google that didn't turn up anything, so I thought I'd ask all of you. Do any of you had MP3 players similar to the iRiver iFP models (like this one here, which is the model I have) & have made a case, cozy or some other type of protection for them? I crocheted a case for my own actually to hold both the player & headphones, but I wasn't quite satisfied. Because of this player's thicker shape in comparison with other players like the iPod & Creative brand players, it proves a little difficult in making a case that form fits the player.

I also use the player to record, so even something that fits the player, headphones & a small mic--which isn't much larger than the player itself--would be another idea I would consider. I thought about just buying a very compact camera case with an extra pocket for batteries or memory, but I've been inspired quite a bit lately to make things, so making it would be a lot more fun! :) I've thought in particular about neoprene-type materials & using snaps to put the case together, but I've never seen or heard of this done before.

So, any ideas or have any of you made cases or cozies for such MP3 players? Found any tins, sturdy materials or similar items that fit these players or could be modified to fit (I love the altoids tin idea, but the player is too thick to fit with the tin closed)? Any other ideas?

Thanks so much, everyone!

Hello all, I have a quick and probably dumb question to ask:

I finally found a good tutorial to use for a simple tote bag on ohmystars.net. So last night I decided to finally try it out, or at least do a practice run on some extra fabric I had laying around. Everything seemed simple enough when I was reading it, but when I started to actually do it, I got stuck on the second step. It said to cut out a 1 inch square on the bottom of the 4 pieces of fabric which I did, but, here's my question, how do I sew it? I know that if I sew it normally it'll have a big notch at the bottom. Do I sew everything normally, and then "sew flat"? So now I'm hoping  you guys can point me in the right direction.

Sorry for text-only, but I have a quick question:
If I wanted to order a bunch of shirts to stencil, what would be the best way to do this cost-effectively? I know getting shirts wholesale is cheaper, but how many do you have to buy to get a wholesale price? And how do I know what shirts are good quality? Any lessons on wholesale purchase or good companies would be really appreciated!

Hi. First time poster here, blah blah. You ladies are fantastical I must say.

So, here is a clock I made for my friends birfday yesterday. She adores Calvin and Hobbes and wanted a 'wacky wall clock' for her birthday, so I did what I could. Sorry for the horrible phone camera pic.

Thanks for looking. :D

This is post only. I'm sorry. I have a baby blanket I'm almost done with and I've been making catnip toys, so I'll be posting pics of them soon.

This is a very simple and stupid question. My son has a hole in the knee of his jeans, and I thought I'd patch them with part of a shirt that my youngest has outgrown, Do I need to fuse some backing to the material before sewing it onto the jeans? I know it would make the patch last longer, but is this something I really *need* to do? I always hated that stuff on the inside of my clothes when I was a kid, and it bugs my son too. These are just play jeans that I thought I'd spruce up a bit.

Thanks!

I've been a member for so long I thought I might contribute some things I've done finally.

These embroideries I did for my current Textiles Course. The first for my drawing project, and the second for my current Textile Design project. Pretty pleased which how both turned out.

More detailed photos and explanations under the cut. Not Dial Up Friendly )

Hullo...I've been a member here for a wee while but I'm without a digital camera so I haven't really been able to post anything here. I've not seen anything posted about them before so I don't know what the deal with posting these is so feel free to tell me off if I get it wrong.

These are just a couple of collages I've made for my wall. I was feeling bored and vaguely arty so I thought I'd have a bash at doing something creative. I don't have that much creative originality so I'm afraid their just collages of images from magazines that I thought looked cool.

Anyways...I hope this shows some sort of progression, I like to think I'm getting better at it, but I thought I'd share to see what other people thought. :)

hi,

i've been watching this community for a while, but haven't joined until today. i love seeing what people are making.

i'm a writer who also produces books of her own work using various techniques. for my latest chapbook, i purchased a dark (almost navy) blue cardstock with red specks. i'm wondering if anybody has suggestions for how to print the title & author name in white on such a dark background?

thanks. & sorry it's text only.

I have tons of plastic bags that I've turned into "yarn" but my crochet skills are non-existent (well, i can sort of crochet, but i cannot follow a pattern and i've tried to make the bag before and simply cannot!) would anybody want to help me? Like, I'll send you the "yarn" that I've made, and we could trade or something? If this is not appropriate, let me know. I just really want to help the environment and I cannot crochet... :(

vinyl!!

I was in a store the other day looking at these really awesome vinyl bags and, of course, as with nearly everything I look at in every store, I said, "Why would I buy that? I could make it!" I think mine turned out pretty well, I'm really proud of it. It took me maybe 5 hours total, and I was way too excited to not post it before going to bed.

my first attempt at a vinyl bag! )

I'm hoping to start making more of these to sell (possibly wallets / smaller purses, etc. as well) and donate 100% profits to Friends of Outdoor School. What do you think you'd pay for this bag?

I'd also appreciate comments/criticism!! Thanks!!
