I'm not 100% thrilled with the clasps, and the Amber Gold doesn't have one yet. I'll have to do some fiddling still I think.

Forged steel candle holder
Feb. 27th, 2006 07:23 amI need a special Tim Burton-inspired forged steel handle for a bag I designed. Instead of paying someone to make said handle, I took an intro. to blacksmithing class so I can eventually make the handle myself.
My first two projects, a leaf hook and a fire poker, turned out ok but I'm really proud of my third project-- an interesting candle holder. We all made the same three plates and candle cup, but we got to make the 'arms' however we wanted. We had no idea what the finished product would look like, just that it would all be welded together at the end of class. I decided to practice my 'Tim Burton' spirals, and it appears I need tons more practice... as well as strength. I couldn't get that super fine tip on my spirals but now I understand how to do it. I think the overall candle holder turned out really nice.

does anyone know where I can find a pattern for a peasant skirt? I don't think I'm brave enough to try it on my own =)
thanks!

neck tie dress questions
Feb. 27th, 2006 02:11 pmIm considering making a dress like
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=28983.0
(only i think i'll attempt to make it a halter neck)
Any hoo the question is to all those who've made tie dresses and skirts is:
do you slice the seams or just sew em as is? cos ive heard/read of it being done both ways
does it make much of a difference (aside from basically doubling the width and thus requiring less ties)
with them being split and therefore wider, do they lose their neck-tie ness look?
also is it hard to remove the pressed folds?
thanks guys!

old post, can't find
Feb. 27th, 2006 02:11 pmthere was a girl who had a HOODIE WITH ANGEL WINGS ON THE BACK and i looked back as far as i could until i gave up (so many posts a day in this community!)
she did it with stencils and i'm trying to figure out if she did it with a bleach pen, spray paint or fabric paint.
i don't remember HOW she did it, just that she did it and i LOVED the look of it.
i thought i saved the entry as a bookmark, but i just don't seem to have it.
anybody remember what i'm talking about?

Feb. 27th, 2006 04:53 pmSo I'm trying to re-create a necklace I saw in the most recent issue of Shop Etc. Magazine (pg 30). I've never made jewelry before, so I'm not sure if there is a website that might sell the links I'm looking for
( The necklace is similar to this... )

trellising market bag
Feb. 27th, 2006 05:40 pmOkay, I'm trying to find a pattern for this bag:
http://www.lollygirl.com/images/market_bag.jpg
I found this pic on a blog, and the person had posted where she got the pattern, so I clicked the link, and there's no pattern for it. So, any help would be appreciated! It's called the Trellising Market Bag and it's knitted. Thanks so much!

For 28 years (since the 1976 Copyright Act went into effect), you¹ve been told that your work was protected ³from the moment you put pen to paper.² No more. And artists who for 28 years produced work with the confidence that it was protected by that promise will find that the promise has been repealed. In effect, you could now be penalized for having believed what the government told you for the last three decades.

I made tea paper...

I really love how tea paper looks. I added stamps on it to give it a little more.

Feb. 27th, 2006 08:48 pmI think this is the right place, but does anyone have a pattern/found a pattern for fifties style halter swing dresses? I bought fabric the other day that would be perfect! Thank youuu!

Feb. 27th, 2006 08:51 pmOk, I want to make a lamp similar to this but I can't figure out how to make the swirly part that catches the hot air from the bulb and makes the paper stencil cut out inside the lamp turn. If anyone knows how to do this or can point me towards a site w/intstuctions, I'd really appreciate it. TIA ^_^
(I already know how I'm going to make the frame & rice paper shade, the twirly part is what's getting me)

Feb. 27th, 2006 10:38 pmcollege yields very little craft time, as i'm sure all or most of you know, but i found a few hours this evening to make another brooch.
(i've also been working on my first knitting project, just a simple scarf, but it isn't complete yet.)
( i promise i can do more than work with felt and thread, but... )
i hope you like it. :D.
