I recently bought about 102 blank ATCs. I bought them originally to make my own actual deck of cards...but who knows if that'll happen now...

I played around with some today during art (We had a sub and I didn't want to work on my still life...^__^)

They're great fun...I'll probably make alot more.

Quotes and pictures mainly from old calender pages...some from just paper or cardstock. Stickers on a bunch...and the best thing about working in the music library...old sheet music. ^__^

9 Cards, 1 Bracelet, and an Icosohedron )

That's about all I've been up to. Tell me what you think.

It's true, I'm a columnist on knitting and crochet now! I'm really excited to be doing this, and to boot it even pays. I love the idea of talking about something I love and being paid for it :D.

It's right here:
http://knittingcrochet.suite101.com

I'm brand new to the column, so I would LOVE to hear some suggestions and ideas of what people would want to read about in the knitting and crochet world. Nothing is a bad idea! I want to make sure I'm writing in the area that people want to read about :).

I have this longish sleeved baseball style shirt in white and orange. I originally planned to stencil a James and the Giant Peach picture on it in orange but now I'm thinking black might look better. I really wanted to get to use some of my new orange paint, painting everything black is getting boring but I'm thinking an orange silhouette would probably look weird. Or perhaps orange title on the front and black peach on the back?

Ok black front orange back it is then. The only idea I like more is all orange with black outlines but I've got the flu and feel far too zombie-afied to put that much detail/time into it. Thanks everyone for your input. :)

So I've been working on the bikini from stitch n bitch's Happy Hooker, and it's taking ages. So I decided to do an inbetween project so I can keep working on the bikini. Well I chose the Yeehaw Lady hat.

edited to say: I am not planning on selling this hat, or any like it. I would hate for anyone to get the wrong idea that I would do so and call it my own. I would like to apologize to anyone who got the wrong idea.

Here it is:

Hi, got a question for you talented folks out here in LJ-land (sorry text only).

Have anybody tried to make a purse out of Pop-tart box? I saw it on ebay for bid, and it looks simple but was wondering about lining inside and re-enforcer on the outside.

Any suggestion is welcomed.
Thanks!

[Unknown site tag]I'm the co-captain of our campus wide CIBC Run for the Cure 2006 (Breast cancer fundraiser in Canada) team. At the last meeting someone suggested a B&W "nude" calendar as a fundraiser - a la "calendar girls" movie. Since there is a huge age difference between some of the students and some of the faculty/staff, there will be a ton of different body sizes and ages available and may be a great idea (and a big fundraiser). B&W photography, in my opinion, has the advantage of hiding flaws while increasing beauty.

SO I've been googlin' this to death looking for ideas, suggestions, samples and more and thought I'd come here and source out some more. Since we are a University, I was debating on an academic theme like 4 or 5 team members sitting in a classroom (with a survivor, and we have quite a few, wearing a pink ribbon around her neck)? Obviously this is subject to the higher up's approval.

Has anyone done one of these before or known someone who has? Any ideas, suggestions or samples around? Any words of advice or warning? http://www.breastofcanada.com/ is a site I found that I liked, but to make this more personal I thought that it should be actual PEOPLE on campus, people others would recognize.

**Please delete wiht my apologies if this is not appropriate!!**

alright so i'm doing my first stenciled shirt and I'm stumped as to what i can say on it. so far i have this. )
I was thinking perhaps something like "Even Good 'Shrooms Go Bad" with maybe some dotted lines or arrows connecting the two, but I'm not sure if I like it. So if anyone wants to throw an idea or two at me I'd love it! Thanks in advance!

Oh my god, I love gouache. It's watercolor that acts like acrylic! I hate working with acrylic because it's not enough like watercolor, and this is the PERFECT SOLUTION! Plus, try saying it: "gouache!" It's great!

I found a little picture of a yawning cat on the Livejournal picture generator (http://www.toothpastefordinner.com/livejournal-pictures.php) and turned it into this, with the magic of gouache (gouache gouache gouache):

Grar!

Today I got all kinds of goodies in the mail....

I got:

1lb of Cocoa Butter
1lb of Shea Butter
1lb of Sweet Almond Oil
8oz of Jojoba Oil
4oz of Candelilla Wax
3oz of Anhydrous Lanolin
1oz of White Sparkle Powder (to add sparkle to the lip balms and lotions)
10 4oz Jars with lids
and 5 Chapstick tubes.

I am planning on making massage oils, body butters, lip balm, and Baby Diaper Rash Cream. And whatever else I can make with these products. I forgot to order flavor oil for the chapsticks, so I ordered some today - Juicy Pear and Mango. I also have to get to the Aromatherapist and get some oils for the lotions and such (lavender, neroli, rose, tea tree oil and clary sage).

What else can I whip up with these products? And what else could I use to flavor the lip balms with?

I just want to dive in and make something!!!!!! :)

I got all my material expect the stuff from a swap rangled into apropriate sizes and lengths I was a lil sad though that some of my frog stuff the frogs had to be cut through. I always feel bad about that.

Does any one know if the stamp not for childrens nightware will wash off? They put it on all cottons and flannels and it's irritating cause it's right there in the middle of everything, however I always make the hem of the blanket hide the ugly stamp just in case.

i've been browsing the community for a while -- just wanted to "officially" join & say hi

i'm a 26 year old grad student (chemistry phd) - and love to knit, make earrings, paint...i have a sewing machine and also know two (!) crochet stitches. (if i could get away with knitted cozies in the lab, i'd have them...but then there is always the problem of contamination...)

anyways - just wanted to introduce myself :)

Hey everyone. I need help!

A few of my friends are trying to put together this huge benefit for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Concerts, dancing.. all that jazz.. and well, a fashion show.

Problem is.. myself and another friend are in charge of getting the clothes for the people to wear, and they just told us this recently and we have about a week, and no money.

This is where you creative guys come in. Does anyone have any ideas of how I could alter clothes that people could actually wear as "normal" clothes, that won't be too costly or time consuming. I can sew and I wouldn't mind making a few stuff but there's no way I'd be able to sew everything. We're talking about 3 girl and 3 guy models here. We're also thinking about selling the clothes afterwards, so they'd have to be good quality altering.

I'd love to get suggestions from you guys. Please help me!

Thanks.

I own a button maker that I used frequently, which can make 1 inch or 2 inch buttons.

Lately I saw somewhere, and got the idea of making, fabric buttons... just like pins, only without the lamination, and obviously with fabric instead of paper. I had a few unsuccessful attempts of just using regular, small fabric circles with my button maker, but it didn't work out... the fabric would not stay pressed underneath the back of the pin.

I was wondering if anybody has had experience with fabric buttons? What are tips and tricks if I can use the machine I have now, or is there something else I should buy? And is there a website guide you could direct me to maybe? (I googled it, and searched this community's FAQ, but couldn't find anything, sorry if I overlooked it)

Thanks loves!
