after searching for evah in the real world, i caved and bought a gross (a gross!) of cell phone lariats online. seriously, i called 4 different stores looking for them!

so, a few years ago, i had made myself this tigerseye bead bracelet. i got out the headpins and black seed & e beads and went to town making all sorts of long dangly bits. but when i put them together to make the bracelet, i realized that 1 1/2" danglies spaced inbetween beads just looks junky to me.
massively discouraged and not wanting to take half of them apart to make shorter ones, i put the whole thing in with the rest of my beads and went and made a bunch of book purses instead.

so anyways, i got my lariats in the mail, and got out all my beads, and i realize that all those tigerseye danglies look awesome as cell phone charms!

yay for my little bitty phone!

the lariats came with a split ring, but i HATE split rings with a passion. or, at least, my thumbnails hate me for using them. (they also hate it when i work with headpins in general. but they can take the pressure, they're just whiny) so i replaced the split ring with various wild wire rings that i had floating around from when i took a chain mail class. i'm so happy with how the black ones look that ive decided to use all those colored ones i have too. boo split rings!

so, here's some more pictures and some questions for you guys...

These are a couple of gifts I've made for some friends. I wish I had new and current crafts to show, but until then.....

This is a simple sling bag I made for a friend for Christmas.

Here's a CD case I made. I cut out white stock paper and glued it together to make a paper CD case. The rest is sewn/printed on fabric and vellum. This is the first one I made, and I've made several more, but for some reason this is the only picture I took of them.

A forum I frequent has a graphic making contest, and recently one of the participates posted this:

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9291/ppttg30nq.jpg

One of the requirements is to give a original source image used for your graphic (in this case, a wallpaper) Now I don't use Adobe Photoshop CS or Adobe Illustrator CS, but I don't think that he could've made this in photoshop. The picture seems highly familar to me (either because I've sat here staring at it, trying to decide if I've seen it before, or because I HAVE seen it before.)

Theres only one place I could've seen it before, and that was here, or pixelgirlpresents.com I already went through pixelgirlpresents and couldn't find it. I tried to do the same here, but with so many posters everyday, its a bit nightmarish.

I apologize because this isn't crafty, but its driving me nuts and I hoped you guys would be able (and willing) to help.

Edit: Thank you everyone for your help, its very much appreciated. I guess I've learned never underestimate the uber skills of doom that Photoshop gives you. While I'd like to reply to everyone individually... I'm lazy and tired and trying to fight a headache. So once again, thanks for the input =)

THE MOST OFFENSIVE SCARF?

A while ago I was commissioned (through etsy!) to make a scarf with George Carlin's 7 Dirty Words on it. It took a while, but I just finished it the other day! It's pretty funny, and I am happy with the way it turned out. I just wish that there was a way to make the tension perfect so that the scarf wouldn't curl, but I think that might be impossible.

Check it out! In case anyone is offended by DIRTY WORDS, here is a link to my post about it with a bunch of photos:

i recently had some custom 1" pinback buttons made for a friend's band and am looking for a neat way of displaying them so they can be sold at shows and events. i was hoping some of you would have some cool, thrifty and fast ideas (they have a show going on tonight) to display these buttons for viewing and sale.

I'm sewing a whole new batch of shirts which I'm going to post later, but I wanted to post this question while alot of pople are at lunch and might notice it.

I've got a makeshift website up right now for my stuff, but I'd really like something better. I LOVE the way mine looks, but I made it off of a pagebuilder template thing, which has zero HTML, so I don't know if I can just copy it somehow to another site. I looked in the memories and didn't find much help, but I know the question's been asked before, so I feel bad for asking. But here I am, doing it anyway. What kind of experience have you guys had with having a website? Where did you get yours? I'd like to get a reasonably cheapish one, but I really want a pagebuilder or the ability to copy my current site to the new site. I'd also like to have a www.whateverthehelliwanttonameit.com kind of address. I found www.ipage.com and it seems nice-ish, but I'm not sure, so I wante to ask all of you guys for your opinions on different webhosting sites and stuff. So...thoughts? ::begs::

I suck at actually remembering to take pictures of my crafts. I get so happy that they are done, that I normally just give them to the intended person, or wear them for months never actually thinking about taking pics.

Under the cut are: my first freeform wire wrapping, my version of the 'fraggle rock' hat, and a very nifty rose pendant necklace.

Sorry if you already saw this on craftster )

Hi there - I have done some research online, and have some very good ideas, but I wanted to ask you all so that I might have the chance to actually converse with an expert...

I want to make a mold of a stalk of asparagus then cast the asparagus in plaster or plastic or whatever will work best. (I'm going to try and paint it to look real.)

What are the best materials for this and how should I actually go about it.

Thanks!!

Alright girls, I have a dilemma.

I am ALMOST done with a cross-stitch for my week-old niece that I started before she was born, and had no problems so far. But now, in the last steps, I DO have a problem.

For s cross-stitch that marks her birth, is it better to have her first and last name or her first and middle name on the nameplate section? The instructions give no insight into this, so I'm stumped. And I tried, and there is no way to fit all three names onto the plate.

So which is more proper for hanging in a nursery/bedroom? First and last? First and middle? Help!

EDIT:: Thanks to everyone who commented, I'll be going with first/middle. I'll be sure to post the finished product (framed and unframed) here before I hand it over to my brother and sister-in-law. They have no idea what I've been up to. X3

My friend [livejournal.com profile] exile618 gave me a few of his old t-shirts, thinking I'd want to wear them for just knocking around the house/painting/doing stuff that requires wearing older clothes. Nope, wrong, I wanted to turn them into pillows! So this is a surprise for him, but I'm sure he's not going to come here to see it...

I've only done one so far... I want to see how it goes over with him before I decide to make the other two.

They're engraving my Worst Seamstress EVER trophy as we speak... )

So I recently redid a few of my notebooks made from recycled books.

Then I made some from scratch (Amazon packaging turned out to be quite handy)

.

I'm sill struggling a bit with the corners, it mainly seems to involve huge amounts of glue, usually all over me. Though I've discovered that Power Pritt is really useful and saves so much time holding things waiting for liquid glue to dry.

so my musical is over now, and i'm terribly sad and heart broken over this, however. it does mean that i can get to know my sewing machine again. i've been working on this bag off and on for the past three weeks, and finally got around to finishing it this afternoon.

New bracelet! This took a couple of days, but I'm really, really happy with how it turned out. It looks better in person than in the pictures.

I just discovered that the small sewing machine that I bought today needs batteries. -.-' I thought it would have a foot petal but it doesnt.
I only bought it to use for right now.I have my big one loaned out.
The one I got is a Provo Craft Tools Sew Crafty Mini.It was under 10 bucks and it says it works on cards, scrapbooks, cloth and any craft projects. So heres to hopping!I dont need it to go thru think stuff so it should work.
Heres my question.Has anyone ever used one of these before? Is it worth keeping or should I leave it in the box and return it?

To make this post craft related a bit more, does any one know where you can get good thick needles that will go through the size 7 hole in canvas AND still be able to thread? I got tons at walmart but their chicken shit chintzy please excuse that curse word. in like 5 minutes of using them the eye breaks and you can't keep your thread in your needle, and that consequently frays your yarn

We go on vacation soon,

I have to pack my yarn for my canvas crafts and get suitable needles to stitch with, and I have to pack embroidery floss for my hand sewing I'm doing and the bibs to do it on the only thing is, like it takes like 30 mins to do 1 bib, and that's no problem but lets say you have oh I don't know 50 bibs to sew get them ALL sewn the first day, and then you have to haul them done and just wasting space the rest of the trip.

In your guys's opnion like what should I do? Like I think the op to sit there undescracted by pc and other at home things would be awsome, but what then. I'd have to haul them the rest of the trip which is a week or ship them home.

My art teacher had us do a project based on a work of literature, so I did this watercolor. It's a character named Rosa from The House of the Spirits by Isabel Illende. She was born with green hair, and when she died her young sister watched her autopsy through a window. Weird book.
