So I've looked alllll over the FAQs and googled like crazy and I'm still lost. I want to find ring bases with just a flat top to glue something onto. I don't want the kind that you add beads/stones to. I've seen many sites that have tutorials on how to make rings by adding things to these types of bases but nothing about where to find the actual bases.

any idea? or do I have to learn how to work with silver and make my own? =P

I just ate some fresh Medjool dates and I've lined up the pits along my desk because I'm fascinated with the way they look.  They kind of look like little wooden cockroaches.  Or burls.

I'm tempted to turn them into a necklace or buttons.

I'm curious if any of you have ever drilled holes in date pits.  If so, can you tell me if it worked out nicely?   I have a dremel somewhere in my basement and i think it would work well.
I've never drilled holes in any kind of bead before, so tips would be appreciated.  I'm mostly worried about them splitting or breaking when I try to drill them.

Thanks in advance for your tips!

I needed white or cream cardstock and all we had was pink green and grey, and a trip to get some was not to be in the cards tonight, so I printed on the colors we had, then painted them the color I needed:)

quick thinking inginuity and craftness on your feet rocks haha

I was wondering if anyone knows of any methods to dye concrete.
I'm thinking about making some of these ( http://www.finkbuilt.com/blog/?p=8 ) and would love to have a set of 3 in primary colours. Now I'm sure I could just paint them after (by hand, or probably with spray paint), but I bet that if there was some way to actually dye the concrete prior to setting, the colour would be that much more even.
Any ideas?

Would a bathing suit made of t-shirt material keep its shape if I use several layers?
Also, if I crocheted a bikini is there any sort of special yarn for that?

I just checked the memories and didn't see anything pertaining to my question, but what I'm wondering is, how do you properly store clay? I just bought two bricks of polymer clay and don't know if there's any proper way to store clay once the package has been opened. What can I do to keep my clay from hardening?

Thanks!

I am looking for metal hair combs to wire wrap beads on. They can be any color but metal works best for what I want to do. Anyone know of a place that sells them in bulk?

Hey. I'm new, just joined and I have a bit of a dilema. My best friend in the whole world is having her big 18th in about a month or so and she loves Fall Out Boy like crazy, especially Pete Wentz. Well, Wentz has a clothing line called Clandestine and he made a hoodie last year that my friend adores. They no longer make that hoodie and it's extremely rare and I can't seem to find this $45 hoodie for under $200! So, I decided that maybe I could make her some sort of "knock-off", if you will, of this hoodie. Now, for the problem. I was never the seamstress and I'm terrible at zippers, but the hoodies' design is rather simple. I have two options. Start from scratch and buy all the fabric and make the screen and sew it all up myself, or buy a plain grey hoodie and alter it to look like the one she really wants.

Specific questions and a pic under the cut.

There's a decorative fire hydrant in my friend's garden (I don't know why, either!), and I want to paint a design onto it. It's your basic red, but the paint is chipping off in spots.

My questions:
Should I sand down the whole thing? I plan on wearing a mask while I do it. Do I need to do anything else before I start painting?
What kind of paint would work best for this outdoor project, painting on metal?
Any suggestions for sealing it after I'm done?

This is a weird request. Thanks for any tips you can give me! I'll post pics when I'm done.

Oh, and to slap a picture onto this entry, here's my brand new kitten, Alice. )
(I'll be making her some cat toys next week.)
