Hi
does anyone have any ideas what I can use for cushion/pillow stuffing without having to buy anything?
I was thinking of cutting socks into little pieces but im not sure.

Here's the story.....
I once wanted a wedding dress.....namely a black one.
So thought I would buy a used one and dye it.

After dying it twice it only turned out a greyish purple....which would have been fine accept.......

The dress manufactureres glued on the majority of the appliques throughout the dress....primarily on the bottom skirts.
Leaving huge glue spots that took the dye beautifully.

Having already spent time and money on the thing I tried to remedy it as best as I could....until throwing my hands up in frustration it got put into the closet to do something with later.
It sat there, then got moved, then got put back in the closet again for over 5 years.

Yup...you heard right folks. Five years.....maybe more....

Until about a half a year ago I tore it apart. And rebuilt it.
The only part I didn't touch and resew was the bodice....not even the sleeves were safe.

Many beads and sequins later I got this:

Pretty no?

And the back )

I finally finished it this morning.

One in the series of my half done projects finally getting done.....this was the oldest I believe.

Every year I try to do a new dolphin painting for my Halloween and Christmas cards and I found the time a few days ago to do this painting and I really love how it turned out :)

It is watercolor and acrylics

Does anyone know any dragon patterns? I'd like to put a Dragon motif on one of my projects but I'm having a hell of a time finding a pattern and I can't seem to create one.

Help!!

I saw a bag the other day with a large zipper-pull thing on it. It's not a special thing you attach onto the zipper, but the actual pull thing is huge. Like, 2-3 inches long. Has anyone seen something like this either online, or in a store? I would be interested in getting some. I think they're neat. :)

This is the end result of a commission I just did. It was made from a photo of a bead.

Hmm...I think it's been a while since I posted any finished pieces. I've been stockpiling supplies for the big commission I posted the design sketches for (at least, I think I did) a while back, working on some event promo art (that the priorities-for-what-gets-finished-first keeps being switched on), pondering preparations for a Faerie Festival my work will be at in 2007, and plotting and scheming a number of new commissions and collaberative projects -- all of which amounts to much busybusybusybusyme-ness, but little to show for it, in any respect, in the immediate sense. I'm trying to "Oh well" at that, instead of "GAH!", but it only works so well, you know? Even when I'm somewhat productive, it's hard to feel productive...or at least, productive enough! I think that's one of the hardest things for me, about the kind of metalwork which is most of what I'm doing now...it's so much easier to get all kinds of work done tangental to it, than getting the work done on the pieces themselves! I know that's because it demands large chunks of solid work-time, which is especially hard to come by now that I have a baby, but....yeah. Frustrating. Anyway, I do have photos of three finished pieces that were commissioned and made recently...one maybe two months ago, actually, and two just a few days ago.

charms

I have two questions, but they are about two totally different crafts so I will put them in seperate posts.

First, I wanted to try and make some charms for charm bracelets, or maybe pendants for a necklace, and I wanted to do it out of Super Sculpey. Is this an ok medium, do you think? Also, how would I go about attatching it, or really, put the whole thing together? would I have to make sure it has a hole in it, or could I use a thin wire to wrap around it the charm/pendant?

I've never ever beaded/made jewelry so this is entirely new to me!

Alright, second question of the night.

I want to learn how to knit! Or do I?

I want to make fun funky things. Purses, hats (with cat ears, or ear flaps, etc), totes, maybe some mittens. And maybe I can even move onto making a tank top or halter or something.

So what would be the best to learn to do these kinds of things? Crochet or Knitting? A girl at work (I work at Michael's) said knitting looks better and she has a bias/preference for knitting.

Oh and either way, because I'm employee, I can take the classes for free. So there's no draw back for me to learn one or the other.
