i'm looking for information about heat sensitive inks or a heat sensitive process that could be applied to a either a waterslip decal (or some other kind) for a ceramic mug. by heat sensitive i mean it disappears when there is heat or hot liquid in the mug. i've seen promotional materials and i know such inks exist, i was just wondering if there was something out there that was made in a DIY fashion for this sort of thing. could be ink or some kind of decal i can cut out and place over my other decal...??

i want to make my boyfriends dad a mug with a pinup girl whose clothes disappear when you pour in hot liquid. i know i could buy one of these but i thought it would be cooler to do something that was my own artwork.

or at least if anyone knows of a manufacturer that would be willing to make just one (most of the sites i've found will only do bulk..)

TIA!

Hello. I usually just poke my head around here, but I was so proud of how this project turned out that I wanted to share. My boyfriend had the idea to make this rune set for my dad for his birthday out of beach stones we collected this summer. He came up with all the symbols and etched them into the rocks with an etching tool I had from a printmaking class. He even wrote a booklet with their meanings and instructions on how to use the set. I helped by making the bag and constructing the booklet!

This weekend, I made myself a light box and now I can finally have some decent pictures of my jewelry to display!

I think every teenage girl in the world is making the exact same type of jewelry, but hey, I enjoy it, haha. Lightboxes are amazing things. This weekend has been a productive one for me. I'm a happy kid, now.

Hey, you know those cute little eyesoft notebooks you are always tempted to buy at Morning Glory?

like this.....

Well i don't usually resist my urge. So i'm stuck with many notebooks like this and i not the best at keeping a diary or writing a story or poetry. So i was wondering if i you guys had any ideas of what i could make with these. Something combining art and writing i suppose..... I just need some ideas to piggy back off of.

These are all super super easy little beaded doll necklaces but I kind of wanted to share anyway. ^^ Also I have a question regarding how to do a certain beading technique. But first the sharing.

hi - i am in need of a suggestion and i was hoping you ladies could help me out. i am bringing a bunch of earrings into a shop tomorrow and i don't have cards for them. i was hoping to come up with something tonight with what i have on hand (which is basically, craft paper, and my imagination.. i have nice pens and stuff and a printer too). they are beaded earrings on fishhooks. i was thinking of printing up some business cards and just sticking them in those, but i don't have any business card paper (the perforated kind) so i will be cutting whatever i do by hand. i just want something that makes my earrings look that extra bit more presentable.

thanks in advance!

I need some help from fellow BUST readers. I am trying to locate the issue that had directions for making hair ties from styrofoam balls covered with knit sweaters. I've misplaced a few issues, and need to know which one I'm looking for. Or, if you happen to know the directions I'd love 'em! I have an old knit hat I want to use, but not enough to experiment with. Big thanks!

Cold Iowa winters + big old drafty house = grumpy freezing girls paying huge gas bills.
So I thought in addition to putting that clear plastic on the windows, perhaps insulating/warm fabric for curtains may help hold some of the heat in and the drafts out. My mother suggested fleece. I found four $3.88 throw blankets @ wal-mart (ew, I know) and the adventure began...

Does anyone know how to transfer a laser photocopy (color or B&W) of an image to canvas? My photography professor gave us a sheet with instructions on how to do it. Since I'm home for Christmas break I thought it would be a good time to practice, but I left the sheet in my dorm and can't remember a thing from it...

If you could help me out I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

I'm going stir crazy without my camera!!

I have so many things to show but I did myself a "favor" by travelling light, sans camera.

To keep myself busy, I thought it would be cool to see if anyone has any cool gift wrapping, or other gift presentation?

I found some cool template sites for gift boxes.

Here's a basic printable square box template:
http://familycrafts.about.com/cs/coloringpages/l/blboxtemplate.htm

You could digitally decorate and print them, and other shaped boxes, like on here:
http://shala.addr.com/print/printables/boxes.html

They sell cardboard templates for these, but I think making them by hand is even cooler.

Any other cool wrapping ideas or photos of beautiful wraps??

A few years ago I dropped quite a bit of money into a playboy lightbox. At the time I was REALLY into the playboy acsessories but I've since moved onto something else. Now I like this lighbox but I moved and accidently dropped it. It still works but the playboy front on it is cracked and it looks like.. well... crapola. I don't want to throw it away or give it to someone. Is there anyway I can make a different front for this thing? The front comes off, it unscrews. It has holes on the back so you can hang it on the wall, even. (I just measured it and it's 2 feet tall about a little over a foot wide)

Is there anything I can do with this? My passion in life is photography and I would love to have a lightbox with my own artwork on it, if at all possible. How would I go about doing this?

Thanks guys.. love the community!
