Hi,
If this isn't the right community to post this question in please refer me to another if you know one.
I am interested in actually selling some of my crafts at craft fairs or in small stores or even online. Do you actually have to register as a business to do this? I am currently residing in California. I have tried to search all sorts of government sites and craft start up sites, but none tell me why you would have to register a business. Do all of you who actually sell online and such have a registered business?
Thanks for your help!

I've been getting started on Christmas gifts.  Here's the scarf I finished yesterday for my Mom.

Fake rust?

I have a feeling I'll be asking a lot of odd questions in here over the next year, haha.

Anywho, I'll keep it short and sweet:

Anyone know how to make something look rusty? And not necessarily metal- even something like clay or wood or canvas. Is there any kind of paint on finishes or anything anyone knows of? Anything? All suggestions welcome, I got nothin :P

EDIT: I love the hell out of you people. Seriously. ♥

YAY! :)

Hey, is anyone familar with dryer lint clay dough?
I saw it on a kids show the other day and it dries really cool looking.... I've googled it and found the recipe, but I'm not sure what sort of glue or paint would work best on it.... Anyone know??

And if you want the recipe for it...

These were a lot of fun and fairly simple to make. (you just need a very small stapler, if you use a stapler, though tacky glue or rubber cement might work too if you have the patience, it would probably come out nicer.)

Directions to make your own are here: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-3D-Paper-Snowflake

This was my first try, using six 4x4" square pieces of printer paper:

It measured about 11 inches across from point to point when it was done.

Wow... It's been a long time since I posted here. I've got a question:

My mom is kind of old fashioned.... Her grandmother had a chenille robe that was a coral color.  She wants one too.  I've searched and searched for coral chenille (not red or hot pink or orange) but to no avail.  Does anybody have suggestions for websites that might have what I'm looking for?  Thanks!

I just got a serger. A shiny new Janome. I think it's a ... 1110DX. I had to look. (I have a 'plain' Bernina 1001, too.)

It's sitting there looking cute at me. I've played with it a tiny bit. I have a heap of fabric begging to be made into bags and such.

And I can't think of anything to make. Ideas? I have a handful of zippers of various length, 3 or 4 types of interfacing, batting for stuffing, lining fabric, velcro, thread, miles of elastic and trim, appliques and lace...

Anyone have a simple pattern suggestion? I've got crafter's block. :p What's your favourite quickie thing to sew, your crafty equivalent of a snack?

anyone know where to get small, black and metaly zippers like these?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

i used to get them from angry young and poor (ooooooh the irony) but they just doubled their prices and i'd like to be able to get them in bulk for cheaper.

and so it's not super boring, look at (a closeup of) my pretty elephant tank girl hat! i carved the stamp and made the fabric and the pattern, i'm way pleased with myself.

So im trying to win over this girls heart.

She wants world peace.

Anyone have ideas?

the first thing i thought of was a globe with a peace sign on it lol

Thanks!

Any ideas as to where I could find cone shaped bags to make these:

They suggested party stores, but I've had no luck so far. I've got everything else I need to make them, but none of that will do me any good if I can't find the darned bags! I live in a pretty large city, so I've got Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, etc.

Also, I foolishly failed to either bookmark or add to my memories a post from here from the 2004 holiday season. The poster was celebrating Hanukkah with robots and candy with her boyfriend, and had the best Peanut Butter Buckeye recipe in the world. I searched the archives and couldn't find it. So if you're her or if you have the recipe somewhere, I would be much obliged. (And yeah, I searched for other buckeye recipes, but hers had graham crackers in it and none of the ones I've found have matched up.)

Thanks!

EDIT: Ahh, pastry bags! Thanks! Now if I could only find that buckeye recipe...
