Not sure if this actually counts as being crafty or not...so feel free to delete-but my little sister just graduated high school and so I made her a College Survival Handbook.

So this is what I made...it took me a while, but I hope you all enjoy checking it out...

Yes, I handwrote it all out. Most of the information is just stuff that I would like to have known being a freshman, other things are from friends.
Anyway, I figure this might be of help to some of you that have younger siblings graduating within the next few weeks. :)
Peace,
Crystal

i thought you all might enjoy this project.

i found this window that someone was throwing away, wiped it down and cleaned the glass. then i took a bunch of paper momentos, photos, drawings, etc that were cluttering my wall and taped them to a measured out square piece of mattboard (size of window opening). i thumbtacked the mattboard to the wall and then hung the frame over it - using thumbtacks, also, which is probably not the best way to hang heavy objects.

it really helped my room feel less hectic and it will be easy for me to move all those little momentos without having to pull them off the wall and pack them up individually.

I made a bunch of these whale pins. I want to see what type of water spout you like best.

It's been awhile since I completed any sewing projects, but I finally did it! Thank the Lord for a break from summer courses!

i've done some googling on the matter and looked in memories. while i've seen some passable solutions, nothing really jumped out as perfect or truly inspiring, so i thought i'd ask.

does anyone have any ideas or links to tutorials for good jewelry organization/storage? i'm particularly interested in something that will work well for necklaces. some of my necklaces don't have a clasp to open (they're on oh-so-sophisticated stretch invisible cord), so keep that in mind, too.

extra points for something that reuses materials i may have laying around the house; i'm big on recycling!

HELP!

I finally decided on yarn and colors and a pattern for the afghan for my boyfriend. I have decided that I wanted to knit it doing the stockinette stitch. I have tried almost every needle under the friggin sun. I still cant get the look of the stockinette stitch, it is almost to the point of it looking like a garter stitch. Then after a few rows its looks like I have been knit 1 purl 1 for a row. Im starting to get frustrated.

Any suggestions or tips? Thanks everyone! And sorry for it being a picture-less post. I will post pictures as soon as the afghan is done.

PS. The yarn Im using is Red Heart Soft Yarn. (it was on sale, its machine washable, and its soft. I made a test patch and tied it to my dogs collar to see how it would stand up. Of course it will probably be better taken care at a fraternity house but it survived my two year old puppy that enjoys getting dirty. =D)

Has anyone made their own stencils before? If so, how did you got about doing that?

Also what is a good knife to use when cutting shapes such as circles and wavy lines?

And lastly, for anyone who uses foambrushes how do you keep them clean?

Thanks!

Arrows?

Hello, all.:D I'm new to the community and, as odd as it may sound, am curious to see if any of you have any ideas to use old arrows for. Yes, arrows. I'm an amateur archer and have about 7 plexiglass arrows with foam fletchings that really don't shoot all that well with my bow(in contrast to the traditional feather fletchings). Now, I COULD get these refletched with feathers, but they were incredibly cheap anyway and aren't all that good in quality. So...I figured I could ask around for some creative ideas to use them for.:D

;3 And in case you're even thinking about it, I am not a servant of Sauron. Killing someone is NOT an option.

Thanks very much.(: I look forward to posting future projects here.

I got my yellow jade yesterday, and just felt like I had to use it for something immediately!

i've recently started knitting cabled socks. this is a result of messing around with cables and handpainted yarn:

the pattern is my own, completely improvised and off the top of my head. make it up as we go along, as the song says. :)

if you'd like more info on this sock and/or would like to check out my other knitterly exploits, please visit my knitting blog at Spillyjane Knits.

Hey guys! I recently got a bottle of Armour Etch to etch some glasses for gifts.

Here's My First Attempt )

And a Screenprinting question:

I made one of the cheap screens out of curtains and a hoop and was wondering how many times you washed them out during production runs? I have a bunch of pillows to put one design on and was wondering if I should do them in runs of 4 or so then wash the screen and start again.

Thanks in advance!

I will have better photos of these soon on the chains but here are some of the shrinky dinks I've made.
Mind you, I have about 40 of them lined up in my living room.
Before some cruel human-being stole my sidekick, I was able to take a picture of these few.
I just put some on 18in gold colored thin chains, silver thick bracelet chains, and I have other ones I want to glue onto backpins and some I want to make into keychains.
