DIY Lingierie
Aug. 21st, 2007 11:13 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I checked the memories, but didn't see anything like what I wanted. I was also a little wary of just Googling "DIY lingerie" for fear of what might turn up, so I turn to you, fellow craftgrrls!
I'm a young married lady, and my husband appreciates it when I wear pretty things to bed now and then, but the few nice sets I have from my bridal shower several years ago are getting a bit old and boring. However, anything that I might buy seems terribly, terribly expensive!
I was wondering if any of you knew of online patterns or tutorials for some simple yet sexy lingerie-type things. Leave any tips in the comments and I will be most appreciative!

Sorry for bugging you guys when I'm just asking for help, but I have a query and this group is the only thing I think can help.
I am going to be a troll doll for halloween and I need a giant plastic gem. I'm thinking like 4-6 inches from top to bottom would do it. I can't think of place online or irl that I could find this and google has produced no leads. I would be forever greatful if someone had any ideas!
A tale of two sewing machines
Aug. 21st, 2007 09:03 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I've had a basic machine for eight years. A nice machine, a real workhorse, that is just not performing as well as she used to. The local dealer I bought her from is no longer selling or servicing her kind, and more and more often I'm having problems that, at the best slow me down, and at the worst, mess up a project.
Now, I don't want to put her out to pasture totally. But the other day at Target, the lovely Shark Intelli-Sew - 9110 caught my eye:
http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-21/qid=1187748420/ref=sr_1_21/601-0036657-2959327?ie=UTF8&asin=B0002TUVN0

Now, I'm a bit of a machine snob, but my SIL has an entry level Shark and has been pleased with it. I like the idea of some extra bells and whistles. Methinks she might be a nice addition to my sewing stable.
But then, I see online for the same price, the Brother SE270D. http://www.brother-usa.com/Homesewing/ModelDetail.aspx?ProductID=SE270D

Yowza. I have always dreamed of am embroidery machine. It would be nothing more than a big toy, really, but wow, what a toy. Embroidery AND regular sewing. This changes things.
So, my question is, do any of you have one of these charming machines, and what do you think? Or, heck, even if you don't, what do you think?

I can has spiders now?
Aug. 21st, 2007 09:20 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
So my last post was all about how I was all about the Octopus and it's myriad of little friends I finagled out of Fimo. I mentioned that earlier in the year I had been obsessed with spiders and tarantulas and promised to post them. My friends list has already been spammed by these spiderlings, but not you guys (as far as I know). Anyways, here they are!

WARNING: If spiders give you the heebies, jeebies, creeps or sweeps, you may not want to be be clickink.
ALSO WARNING: I've linked to a couple actual tarantula sites with pictures, though all the eight-legged critters on this post are completely fake.
( Sure, they're not real... but they all have too many eyes and legs for comfort! )

Drilling In China
Aug. 21st, 2007 09:33 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Over at etsy.com I saw a gal that drilled a hole in a china tea cup to create a pretty cool item for sale.
My question is how do you do that and with what kind of tool?
