Several months ago, I came across a cute bag pattern/tutorial online and bookmarked it, but unfortunately a few weeks ago I lost all my bookmarks and I'm still not sure why. They just vanished. Anyway, I'd really like to find this pattern again because I'd like to make the bag for a friend of mine. The pattern piece looked like the top illustration, and the patchwork part looked like the bottom one. You lay the pattern piece, which you measure yourself and cut out of newspaper or something, on the patchwork piece after you fold it in half and cut two, I think, then you cut two of a plain fabric for the inside of the bag. I think it was reversible. It ties at the top in a little square knot or something similar. When the bag is on your shoulder, the middle of it goes down in sort of a V because of the way it comes together.

I know it was really simple to make, but I get confused about linings and how they go in sometimes, and the shape of the pattern piece doesn't turn out exactly like the finished bag looks, so that also confuses me a little. I just need to look at the pattern again and I'll get it!

I found it by blog-hopping one night, but no amount of Googling or checking Craftster and Instructables is finding the one I want. If anyone could link me to it, I'd be very very happy! Thanks!

So, I need patterns or ideas for crafts that could somehow involve penguins. What would a penguin hat look like? If I just took a black t-shirt and bleached an oval on the front of it, would it look good, or stupid? Penguin charms? Beaded penguin patterns? Does anyone have a pattern for a stuffed penguin, or a basic concept of how to do it? (Warning: I do not knit or crochet. My sewing skills are pretty bad, but at least I'm working on them. I'm willing to try anything but knitting or crocheting, though.)

Grrrr. Penguins. So far, I've made salt-dough penguins, cross-stitched a row of penguins, and sand-blasted a penguin onto a nice little sheet of glass. I need more.

Somebody in my crochet class said she'd seen ninja embroiderers with a placemat/lap cloth which is black on one side and white on the other for background contrast when working with very fine thread.

If you've ever tried to crochet fine white thread against a background of white tabletop you'll feel my pain.

Do we know what the name of such a cloth is? Are there patterns for one? Dimensions?

so my friend has a dead black widow spider that he wants to put into some kind of mold and make a paperweight type thing out of it.

we have a mold but we are unsure as to what kind of filler to use to be sure that it doesn't screw up the spider in any way and to make sure that it is completely clear. any suggestions?

So the cooler weather outside has got me thinking about holiday gifts. A few months ago my family and I decided we were going to have a "green" Christmas—in that all of our gifts we are exchanging will have some sort of environmental consciousness or benefit to them.

After doing some research about purchasing gifts, I've decided that in order to fit within the "green" category and still fit within my budget, I'm going to have to be making a lot. (Side note: why does the word ORGANIC automatically make something 50% more expensive?)

As a graphic designer, I've been making calendars for the family for the past 6 or 7 years that are a big hit (no one ever forgets a family birthday). I will be making those again this year, but on recycled paper with soy inks.

Does anyone have any other ideas? More specifically ideas for toys for any age range (I have nieces that range from 12-2 months old, so anything will probably fit someone). But I'd also like to get input for adults/couples as well. Thanks!

Thank you!

I finally finished my craft studio shelf organization project! I’ve got all the boxes done, painted, labeled, and everything into them. Yay! I feel so spiffy! Now, to craft something … Hmm …

I caught this on the purl bee blog and I know a lot of you crafters out there love japanese crafting, so I thought I'd share it here.

Nani Iro is a fabric website with a lot of cute, free patterns. Everything's in Japanese, but if you're familiar with sewing patterns, you should be able to figure it out.

So I made a doll the night before last.

I think she looks like and an orc. Maybe because she's yellow.

Hey everybody! I'm in need of some help.

Because of my cosplaying, I got kinda thrust into crafting stuff with no experience. I sewed and did all sorts of stuff having no idea, really, what I was doing. Now I want to do more, but I'm hitting a road block. I don't know how to do anything!

So my question is, as a beginner, what kind of stuff should I try? Any easy projects that could help me learn the basics of knitting, jewelry making, sewing, etc? Anything goes here, I'd like to learn all different kinds of stuff!

Any suggestion is welcome and greatly appreciated. If it makes any difference, I'm 16 years old. Thank you! =]]

A bunch of my friends decided to do a knitting exchange this summer. I managed to forget all about it until two days before we were supposed to be finished, so I decided to do a simple little purse and felt it. Unfortunately, I've never felted anything before, so I didn't realize just how much the purse would shrink, but the person it's for really seems to like it, so I'm just chalking it up to learning experience.

Pictures taken in the back of my car, right before I mailed it to her XD )

It's the perfect size if she wants to carry just a wallet, cell phone, and keys - although today she told me that she usually just puts everything in her pockets and doesn't use purses. Oops.

does anybody know of a place where i can get linolium sheets for printmaking online?

I got a hold of some craft wire and went a little crazy with my buttons last week. I made a bunch of pendants and have worn a different one almost every day this week. I make no claims at being skilled in beading/jewelry making so I just twisted the wire to make a little loop at the top and strung them with embroidery floss. These are the first pendants I've ever made and I haven't decided how I feel about them. Sure are a lot of them, though, haha.

I apologize for the crap lighting. Lots of pics ahead...

I also have an update on the Super Mario Bros. scarf. I went on a long roadtrip (Atlanta to San Jose, CA) and thought I would knit and knit and knit in the car, but I ended up getting carsick so no progress was made. Recently I realized that in order to get this done by... well, ever I needed to pick up the needles. So here's the progress... it's not far...

It's a me, Mario! )

A question for all gocco users: I see on ebay that you can buy special screens for cloth, is it worth it? do normal screens not work on cloth? (i am about to buy a gocco and just want to know what screens i should buy). Many thanks!

Hey guys, I've got a little dilemma.

I have this great pear of slacks that I turned into shorts, and they're perfect except for this insanely high waist. Does anyone have any tips on how to mover the waist down further? I have a kind of okay idea, but I'd prefer to work from a tutorial or something because I'll be using these shorts in my portfolio for college.

Any suggestions??
