Bored of the same ol' knit/crochet scarves I wear every year, I decided to get out of the rut this fall.  It's the bestest thing, too, because I get to mix my favorite things -- color, texture, pattern, texture, composition -- together; and it's wearable!

New design, I'm trying out larger designs on the wallets now. I'm liking them, I want to make a larger bag with the same design on it. Maybe with a little space person as well.

Hey there!
I've searched high and low throughout this community for the solid answers to my questions but really have just found myself growing more and more confused XD;;; I'm an absolute beginner at Resin. Infact, I have yet to even figure out how it all works!

So, I guess the best way to sum up what I'm dying to find out is: HOW DO I START? Are there any good tutorials (besides that TAPP thing that kinda went over my head :/) online or books perhaps that can help me get started? Like I said, I'm beyond a beginner so please feel free to explain things to me like I'm a kid XD;

My eventual goal would be to produce something similar to this:

or this: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=7765325

I'm pretty sure for the first one they use a polymer clay sort of deal but, obviously, I could be way off there too :/ I'd love to be able to make similar pendants for earrings or magnets but.... yeah, I'm just sort of stranded currently :p

Thank-you so much everyone in advance!!

One of my co workers has a young daughter, a pre teen, who seems to be really into crafting and sewing. Can you suggest any good beginning crafting books for her? I wanted to give her some idea for the holidays.

Thanks!

I did some new pendants and really like how they turned out. first two are small face pendants one is painted with Christmas Tree with tiny red ornaments and the second one has a itty bitty tiny snow man on it!

Hi all,
I have knitted up a white acrylic scarf, and I wanted to add some letters to it. I was planning to cut them out from felt I have and sew them on. Will the scarf still be machine washable? Will the felt bits just kind of....fuse onto the acrylic? (that's what I'm hoping will happen)
Or will the felt completely morph/shrink/screw up the scarf (change it's shape, etc).
I have t-shirt fabric to use as a backup, but I'd really rather use the felt, and I'd like to keep the scarf machine washable.
Thanks!

And on another note, I just wrote up my list of X-mas presents I still have to make, oh god! Panic time!

Hi Grrls :)

I thought you all might appreciate this. My grandmother recently gave me this antique sewing machine (a singer!), It is from 1914!

Anyway, here it is!

A small blanket to put on one's lap to protect the legs from a lap-cat's sharp love. Could be quilted, embroidered, applique'd, fabric-painted; wouldn't need to take a lot of or expensive materials (backing it with recycled denim would be excellent); and a cool version could be done at lots of different skill levels.
I have some mending to get through before I make one, but I sure need one.

This is what I began with:

joy

(Except, really, it was much more yarn than that.)

I made a crap load of these:

4 Rounds

And then... after lots and lots of work, I ended up with this! )

Just got this email, checked it out and its legit. Do not buy these if you come across them, or if you have them, you need to send them in to the recall. The product is called aqua dots. The beads fuse together when sprayed with water. The coating on the beads that causes the beads to stick to each other when water is added contains a chemical that can turn toxic when many are ingested. Children who swallow the beads can become comatose, develop respiratory depression, or have seizures. This is confirmed through U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Spin Master (who is the maker of the product), and was on CNN as well. I'm sorry if this doesn't go along with the craftgrrl rules, but I don't want anyone getting hurt. I know several people who have bought these for their kids, and they are all taking them back. Here is the link with the information, including phone numbers to the recall...

Hello all!

I recently found out that I will be running a camp program this summer for children aged 3 to 5 making jewelry related crafts.

So any ideas about what types of jewelry crafts I should do?

Like:
- Pony beads
- Shrinky dinks?

What else?
Thanks very much for your help!

-Emily.
