If this isn't considered crafty enough, please tell me and I will remove it immediatley.

I'm going to an anime convention this weekend, and stupid me decided to put off my costume to the last second. XD For the most part, my costume is coming together. However, there is one aspect that I'm struggling with.

My character has white markings on her face and arms. I was just planning on getting some white face paint, but now that Halloween's over no stores are selling it. I was dumb and forgot to get it during Halloween. I don't have time to order anything online, so I'm stuck.

Are there any alternatives to paint that I could use to make these markings? Or, do you know of any type of store that would carry white paint now?

Thanks so much for your help. =] (Sorry the picture is so small. There are two markings on each of her arms and two on her face)

I want to make a beaded poinsettia pin for my Grandma, specifically this one:

I've purchased the pattern and it calls for a spool of 26 gauge wire. Being quite broke, I'm wondering if I can get away with using the spool of 24 gauge wire I already have. Anyone experienced have an answer?
and just so I can get other people hooked, here's a link to (mostly) free beaded flower patterns.

Hello Ladies!
I know we have a lot of questions about sewing machine fairly often so I thought it may be cool if we, meaning sewing machine owners, shared with the class what type of sewing machine we have and what we like and dislike about it.  Maybe it could be put in the memories section if we get enough responses!
I'll go first!
Type and Model- Kenmore - Mini Ultra
Likes - This is a very small machine that does everything that I need it to do.  I make accesories and garments on it. I havn't tried any real heavy fabrics like leather or fleece but I imagine it'd work just fine.  The limited number of stitches don't bother me at all, I'd really have little need for them.  The machine also is easy to take apart when problems do arise.

Dislikes- I have had my share of problems with my little work pony, all revolving around tension and such.  Not unlike other machines, the tension is tricky to fix when it for no reason at all goes wacky.  My machine also likes to lock up the needle sometimes.  It may be user error but it sure is annoying!!
Other than that she has provided me with hours of work and entertainment!
And here's something it made a loooong time ago, probably 2-3 years ago... I know, the stripes don't line up- what can I say- I was a rookie!  Most recently it made a great Alice costume, some of you may remember seeing it!

Who plays M:TG, has current rare cards & would be willing to scan some cards for me to use in a craft project?
[identity profile] drowningmermaid.livejournal.com
I've been looking for craft ideas to do with my daughter to give as gifts specifically from HER for Christmas (she's two and a half) and found this really great idea for Baby Food Jar Snowglobes but it says to use florist clay, which I've never heard of and don't really want to go out and buy since I only need a very small amount.

Would it be okay to use something else to fasten things to the lid which would become the base)? Hot glue, maybe? I know it needs to be something that won't fall apart or dissolve in the water.

Also, do you think if I make a holiday themed item (snowman, tree, etc) out of sculpey, it would be okay in the water?

i am knitting for the first time with circular needles.  it is not going well.  i keep getting this gap between the joined stitches.  i have checked my books and the faq here and the only thing i could think of was that i wasn't pulling my stitches snug enough after joining.  so i started yet again.  but no, i've got that dratted gap again.  what oh what am i doing wrong?

My boyfriend's work colleague got her Canadian citizenship today so they held a little celebration at work for her. I was asked to make a card and here is what i came up with. i only had about 2 hours to make it so its on the sloppy side. also got some new stamps which i was playing with (excessively). but anyway, its a card, and she liked it ^_^

as usual, none of the sparkle and glitter shows up in the scan.

Hi everyone,

My best friend is going to have her first baby in about a month. She's very excited and we already know it's going to be a girl. I want to make a Goddess doll for the baby in the next 2 weeks. Here's a picture of mine:

I thought I could buy a Goddess doll from the lady at Womongathering that made my Goddess doll but I can't track her down on the net and can't wait until June.

I can't sew to save my life but I'm willing to try so I can give this baby girl her first Goddess doll. But I need help.

My questions are:

*What baby safe material can I use to make the doll?

*What can I stuff it with it that is safe for a baby?

*How do I make it machine washable?

*How do I make a pattern?

Help? Crafty people? Help?

Oh craftgrrls, how I neglect you. I'm sure you're all just BROKENHEARTED about that. Anyway, I finally got my crap together and now I have a post! An epic post! About 500KB of pictures--even though there's a bunch of them, it should still be pretty dialup-friendly.

EDIT 11/16: As of early this afternoon, my host's server is down (or she skipped town or died or something--I haven't talked to her in awhile--but we're going to assume that it's just down). I'm going to leave the original picture links behind the cut in hopes that it comes back up again soon, but if you're looking and they're not working, I've uploaded everything in this post to A Photobucket album. Sorry!

Two dresses: striped and plaid )

Two pairs of pants: ... also striped and plaid, but um, different )

A pink and black shirt )

Black and white patchwork bag )

And the grand finale: my Halloween flapper costume )

Aww, I feel kind of bad because that was really long and the writing isn't as entertaining as it could be. I blame my economics class. FAIL.

Oh hey, do you guys have any ideas on where I could find little metal cogs and clock gears and things for cheap? My inner steampunk wants them so.

I'm very much an eclectic crafter--I tend to make things that I need/wanted when I don't want to buy them or think that I can try to make them.  Under the cut are two purses, a CD player case, and a scarf-in-progress....

Hello everyone!
It has been a really long time since I posted anything on here, but don't worry I have been admiring your talented skills! I was at Michael's today and suddenly decided to give jewelry making a try, so I bought one of those "starter kits". I came home and I finished my first necklace and earrings. Now, since I've seen beautiful and professional pieces here, I was wondering if anyone had any tips for a beginner like myself.

What do you think? )

It's been a while since I had something to post here.  Actually, it's been a while since I made this thing, and I finally got around to cropping and shopping the pictures for online sharing. :-)

Hello Craftsters,
Preface, I checked the memories but I didn't see anything on embossing. I'm working on a very fine project where I'm using black & red embossing powder on white paper. What is the best way to keep the negitive area free of loose embossing powder? I was advised to first rub the paper with a dryer sheet first but that doesn't seem to do much. I tried cleaning it off with a soft fine tipped paint brush and that works alright but I feel like I'm missing a better way!

Thanks in advance!
