So

Last Christmas, someone in here had posted a bunch of little chocolate mice truffles using marachino cherries..does anyone happen to have the recipe?? I've searched google and the memories like mad but none of the recipes are the one I'm looking for :S Help!

Also, since I'm on the topic-everyone's favorite festive baking recipe?

GAH!!!

I'm so frustrated. I've probably made a dozen of these things, but I can only find "portfolio" pics of 3, and "in use shots" of two or three others. Sorry guys. It's not a great selection, but if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them. I'm now considering making a tutorial too, but that'll have to wait until next fall at the earliest (I'm "stuck" in Scotland w/ no supplies until August.)

The front cover of this book is made from a vintage, 1960 science diagram of leaves, fronds and berries. The paper is cottony soft and in great shape.

The back cover is made from beautifully marbled paper in silver, olive and emerald greens. Another bookbinder sent it to me in a trade, so the quantities I have are highly limited. I love the patterning and how it picks up the colors and theme of the cover illustration.

The spine reinforcements and interior covers are made of Nepalese Lokta paper, batik dyed in monochromatic coffee brown shades. Lokta is made from sustainable fibers, and is completely tree free.

The textblock is made from 60lb, bright white drawing paper. The paper has a good amount of tooth and can handle ink, pencil and many other media.

A frienda nd I pen pal back and forth several times a month and her main request is stationary and address lables, so I made these for her.

The mailing lables would be a pain in the butt to print on my printer like I originally wanted, so I simply bought some cute stickers that were small enough to fit on the lable, some envelopes and I put stickers on the envelopes, the lable will colaberate with the envelope:) so the smiley envelope will get a smile lable:)

Thanks to all of you for the really helpful comments on my last post concerning beginner's soap making.
I decided to go to Michael's today and buy a starter melt and pour kit- just to get accustomed to the easy stuff before I attempt to move on to actual *soap making*. I just wanted to share the out come of my attempt- I'm actually rather proud! :)

Soap! )

They sell kits and with my birthday being right after thanksgiving I am hoping to find some neat things like these kits on sale, or get a 40 percent off cupon.

Have you ever used them, were you satisfied with them? I was told once Darma trading company was the best dye to use, but I kind of like that the kit comes with 4 colors for one price, while Darma you may have to buy several individually priced pots.

Any other Dyes you've used and you really really liked, that didn't require tons of steps, nor tons of water? I'm looking for a type where you dump it in a bucket of cold water swish about take out and you're done.

Quick! I've got 100% plain unbleached cotton yarn, 'wick' thickness, could I dip it into wax and make my own wicks for candles?

:D

I realize candle wick is cheap and easy to buy, but I have an F-TON of cotton yarn. A thousand thanks ahead of time!

(and I did buy wicks...but I am THINKING the cats ran off with the package.)

I picked this tray up at the craft store and painted it for the show this weekend. I really like how it turned out. Sorry for the huge amount of pictures but I was just so excited with how it turned out that I think I got a little bit carried away lol

My best friend's Christmas is going to be a bit sad this year. Her grandmother, who raised her and was basically her mother, died last week after a long battle with lung cancer. Before she died, knowing she was declining, my friend asked Oma if she would knit a blanket for her for when she had kids. Unfortunately, Oma was too sick and was never able to do it.

I had an idea for a Christmas present for her, but I needed the cooperation of her family. Fortunately, I'm close to Ashley's family and talked to her grandfather and mother about my idea. This is part one of three:
