I have a sewing machine, but I haven't done anything with it in a long long time. I've had a few days off from work and I got into this big ferret hammock kick. After getting a new giant cage I've gone to town making all kinds of little hammocks and sleeping sacks. Just squares, stuck together. Rings though the corners. Nothing amazing, but more than I'd done in ages with that machine.

Toad's like "'eh, it's alright. I GUESS."

Well last night like many nights I was looking at saddle pads online and I thought to myself "I should try and make one!"

So at nearly eleven pm I went off to the store and got crap to try and make an English saddle pad. Thankfully when I got home [livejournal.com profile] ugotogal was online. She is AWESOME and made a tiny cat size saddle pad and took pictures of the steps. Gave me an excellent idea of what I should be trying to do. I didn't have a pattern just my current saddle pad to give me an idea of size.

It's not great, I don't even know if I'll use it. It's thicker than my current store bought saddle pad though. Blah blah blah I ramble.

Picture are behind the cut.

I had no idea what I was doing. )

What is the difference between the glitter you find at Michael's and "German Glass Glitter"? And where can you find vintage tinsel?

Does anyone in here make soap? I don't know the first thing about it, but I'd like to learn. Are the materials hard to come by? And pricey?
Can anyone direct me to any sites where it has (easy, lol) tutorials for soap making?

I made jewelry.

Flat pieces made from sculpey, pressed with a rubber stamp, baked and painted.
Finished with purchased glass beads, jewelry wire, jump rings and crimp beads.

Okay, I've gone through the memories & found some useful information but I'm looking for a turtorial.

I have a ton of plain canvas tote bags & I am wanting to paint them/screenprint/whatever it's called. I have zero talent when it comes to drawing, etc. I want to just be able to print a picture I like off the interent (color & black&white) and put it on a bag. Is that possible? Do any of you wonderful girls have any turtorials or advice for me?!?!

Thanks & have a good holiday!

What are some ways to decorate a picture frame? I'm sure there's an obvious answer to this question, but I'm just wondering if I need to use a specific type of frame, specific materials, specific glue, etc.

I'm at a complete loss as to what to get my boyfriend for Christmas this year, so I figured I'd make him something while I'm thinking of what else to get him.

Hi-I have an idea for a top I want to sew. The fabric is a nice thick ribbed cotton knit, it won't fray. I was thinking of cutting a pattern into the neckline, cuffs and hem. The problem is it will most likely curl after washing. I need to make the fabric where I plan to cut stiff but washable. Has anyone attempted this? I thought of buckram, but that's not washable. Any ideas are appreciated; otherwise I will use the old trial and error method.

spin, knit & hooker buttons & pocket mirrors

I designed and made these last weekend for the weaver's guild sale I was in--they were a hit. I made them as 1" pin-back buttons and also 2.25" pocket mirrors. I thought the hooker one was hysterical . . . not sure if anyone else did.

I did some new pendants with some left over clay that was given to me (it is called Jovi) and I really llke how they turned out. Pendants are double sided and I did a whole bunch of them (each one different). I think the hearts are my favorites (I also think they will be nice for Valentines day.

Here are a couple samples...

I've dedicated this week to working on stuff for my upcoming (and very first) craft show! I'm hoping that it won't end up being a total flop for me. So far I've managed to finish and package up 20 sets of push pins and a few sets of magnets. The push pins are mounted on pieces of foam core board (so that no one gets hurt) and the magnets are attached to their cards with a drop of rubber cement (for a pretty display and easy removal). Here's a sneak peek!

Feel free to comment / critique, I'd love any and all input! :)
