So all of ya'lls awesome posts of purses and totes has me really wanting to try it out. I was wondering, what's your favorite material to use for making bags/totes. I have a really great sewing machine, and I've sewed enough to wing a pattern myself, but I don't know what type of fabric or material will work best. Any tips for a beginner???

Thanks!!

Ok, So, I've wanted a Dollfie for years. I love them. They're just SOO cool! However, I dont know what to buy!! Ive looked on the website, and its a little confusing. Ive looked on ebay, and a lot of the stuff for sale for Dollfie is for 60cm, and they all use codes! like MSD, DD, SD13. I just dont get it. Also, whats the difference between a Super Dollfie and a regular Dollfie? I just have so many questions! I'm so confused! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
  thank you in advance!

Neat trick!

For those of you who roll yarn balls instead of leaving your yarn how it came from the store, I offer a neat little trick: Secure the loose outside end by tying it to a hairpin and sticking the hairpin into the ball. It stays put and works whether you wind it as a center-pull ball or... whatever the other kind is called.
I'm not posting a picture of my just-finished Calorimetry because it's to match my work uniform so the color is arch-uninteresting, and I -nevar- want to knit with acrylic again.

Hi peeps,
My first post, Thanks for looking!

So I bought this fabric because I was so intrigued by it. It is a large image and it doesn't repeat on either side of the yardage. It took me a while to figure out what to do with it, but this is what I did:

The smallest one is 25cm diameter (9.5 inches). The larger ones are 30cm diameter (11.5 inches).

Any ideas?

Never posted before, but  I need to stop being so darned shy...Here we go.

One of my New Year's resolutions was to set aside one day a week for crafting.  Since I shop at Aldis, I am always in need of shopping bags to pack my groceries in.  Aldis bags are sturdy enough to use once or twice, but I'm still buying them once a month.  I decided to make my own out of cloth for this weeks craft.  I went to the dollar pile of fabric at Wal mart and bought 2 yards of each fabric.   I can't just leave them plain, so I dug up some scrap ribbons and what not and decorated them a little.  Nothing fancy, but I have some good sturdy bags now.  Here is a teaser and a couple more examples under the cut:

experiences with using a hot glue gun on fabric?

not instead of sew parts together, I'm using it as applique or to glue two stuffed things together. im afraid to use it, but my other glues definitely aren't strong enough.

A friend of mine just had back surgery and is bed-ridden for a couple of weeks. He was pretty down about the whole thing, and almost all of his friends are either in school or working in other states because he's back home for the surgery, so he's kind of on his own out there. I really wanted to just send him some small pick-me-up kind of thing.

He also works at an Apple store and is OBSESSED with it.

Thus:

It's about 4 inches high (6 if you count the leaf), about 2 inches 'thick', and is very obviously hand sewn (it's the thought that counts, right?) out of silver vinyl.

I finished my mudtire monster. It was a pain to figure out a pattern that let me make flat circles with a hole in the middle. It's not the world's most perfect monster, but heck, he's for off-roading. He's just going to get beat up anyway. ;)

I finished my first ever rawhide drum!!! What a task. I used hints and tutorials from various internet sites.

I made a new saddle pad. This one is so plush my sewing machine hardly managed.

I ride this woolly beast.

My next horse project is going to be tail bags.
